god I bawl every time at this scene. And I've got goosebumps. I feel like maybe she sang that song when she was a little girl and still had hopes and dreams of grandeur. She sounded so vulnerable when she sang it. Maybe it's bringing back old memories for her brother too...that's why he's crying. I love this movie!<3
@thechoosendude Yes she did. She's credited as the performer in the credits. Carey Mulligan has sung before, even appearing on a Belle and Sebastian song on their most recent album. She brings such a beautiful vulnerability to the way she sings it because she's not always pitch perfect.
I just saw it today, and I have to say, it shattered my expectations. So beautifully shot, well written, reflective, and absolutely haunting. Needs to be seen. (This scene was even more stunning in its entirety). :)
I'm so mad I'm not old enough to see this movie! It looks so amazing!! Michael Fassbender is such a wonderful actor and deserves much more attention. And Carey Mulligan is a wonderful actress too. I remember seeing her for the first time on the episode of Doctor Who called 'Blink'
This scene is absolutely heartbreaking. They did an amazing job of... well everything in this movie, but their portrayal of New York was a surprisingly well captured and unexpected layer. Love the use of this song.
this scence is fascinating and sad...bring me tears when I was in cinema

This felt so much longer than one minute in theaters because of the tension between the siblings. *Shiver

@beautifulgirl425
You do know Mulligan didn't actually sing this, right?
thechoosendude 3 weeks ago
@thechoosendude I wasn't talking about Carey Mulligan. I was talking about the character Sissy she plays in this movie.

@thechoosendude No. Who did sing it? How do you know? In the film credits, I thought CM was credited. Terrific lip syncing if she didn't sing it.

If you're 12+ you can see it here in France... Funny how NC-17 works.
