  • Its called "Bump".

You can get it in App store and Android Market, yeah, its the future

  • good idead, but who's gonna shake two phones in public?

  • Good idea! :O

  • thats stupid...

  • sux for people with lepra as well

  • if i want to sync my laptop to my printer, should i chuck them out the window at the same time? or just molest them like i'm spanking the monkey? where on my phone menu does it say, 'now shake'? Under connectivity maybe?

  • what, I gave this a try with my brand new laptop and printer, so out the window it went and the printer was so quick, couldnt figure out where the paper come out, but it was alot better :L

  • Make passionate love to all your devices and they will sync

  • what the FUCK?

  • Sucks for people with arthritis.

  • ok guys.

bluetooth uses pairing to establish a kind of trust relationship between two devices. (like you don't want your neighbor to use your cell phone, but maybe your laptop could connect to internet through it)

one way to do use it secure is having device A give out a number which you have to enter into device B. device B connects to device A and presents the number. if the number is correct, device A allows the pairing.

  • i carry two phones and it seams when i carry them in one pants pocket they screw up on me. are we spozed ta know what the hell this guy is talking about?????

  • what is in the video is not important for consumers (yet).

that's a kind of maybe 'future' technology.

if you like tech it's interesting.

  • What the fuck

  • haha... perfect comment

  • I can imagine a new range of phone accessories where the phone is slipped into the back of a glove. A handshake between 2 such equipped people will literally connect the phones. :-)

  • what would connecting the phones do though?

  • create an adhoc network and exchange for instance contact details, similar to a business card. The benefit of the 'handshake' (excuse the comms. reference!) would be to ensure other devices in the vicinity do not receive the information - a sort of secure handshake.

  • Oh, so like a way to steal info?

  • it's a form of passphrase security for bluetooth. probably some module in the phone measures the movement. a bluetooth security module uses that information to provide a passphrase. when 2 phones are shaking the exact same whey they should provide the same bluetooth passphrase

  • It's a secure method but wireless connection is indeed to take advantage of physical distance between devices.

  • oh lots of lovely people

  • is that when you have an earthquake lines mix up

  • cool, after an earthquake all phones are paired ;-)

  • great if the two phones are a) small, and b) the same size. not so great if i want to pair my blackberry with a small nokia. i guess one can use traditional pairing instead though

  • If it's possible to link more than just two phones this way, what if a hiking expedition of 10 needs to link each other like so? Pretty hard to shake 10 in two hands, wouldn't you agree?

  • *Pairing* only works for two devices at a time.

  • Does this only wok on certain handsets then?

  • what's the point of pairing them up in the first place?

  • i think the idea is phone A would like to transfer an image to phone B, rather than the two people go into settings and accepting etc the users shake the phones together and they detect the same shake paterns and know which devices want to comunicate. i think.

  • never used bluetooth, what does it mean by pairing them up? is it like giving each other a contact number or a location but this occurs by shaking? what would other methods be to pair those two phones in the clip? do they stay paired after the shaking? stupid questions. please answer.

  • where you think i posted the question from?

  • have you not a fire to light with some flint and some wolves to hunt ?????

  • lol. you're right i am so far behind. i actually thought that this method of pairing up was discovered by accident. like it was some sort of phenomenon in the way that wireless waves, or whatever, vibrated. so vibrating them together on the same level linked them. i didn't realise it was specifically created to do that. i want a bluetooth. p.s my business card is better than yours.

  • i don't have one

  • thats because you're not pat bateman. i am.

  • your cave ?

  • Simple and elegant solution :)
