  • 1968, oder irgendwann um diese Zeit, ich war schwer verliebt uiiiiiiiiii

  • Golden Earrings were supporting Spinal Tap whose Flower Power hit 'Listen to the Flower People' was at Number 1 in the Dutch Charts. At at open air concert in Holland Tap's drummer was decapitated by the sail of a windmill

  • That's quite catchy!!

  • still can't believe that that eight miles high album was from the same year

  • @hellyfornication

your right, because this song was released in 1968, Eight Miles High was released in 1969

  • This song brings me back to the time of the early 70s. At the time I got this Golden Earring song often heard from my brother's tape recorder. I was there 4 or 5 years old, but I have this carefree sound of that time still very good in the ear. The musical lightheartedness comes clearly into play here: loose, fluffy pop-rock with a dash of psychedelic, wrapped in the comforting cloak flower power - a pity that this beautiful song finds itself today on oldies radio stations, almost no attention.

  • komplett behindert^^

  • Im so glad they evolved musically!!!

  • NEDERLAND!!!!!!

  • Do all Dutch have bad hair like this? And what the hell is a dong dong diki diki dong anyway? Wait, never mind, I don't think I want to know.

  • @greyflap "Dong dong diki diki dong" is just a bit of nonsense dreamed up for this song.

  • @greyflap Yes, and we all wear wooden boots and live in wind mills.

  • Rinus Gerritsen was echt een snoepie daar...

  • 1:45...;]...wat 'n cuty die George.

  • @PAULLONDEN

    totally cute!!!!!!

  • So cute this song as the band is 50 years old!!!

Georges Kooymans did it sound all so Dutch***

    Brave!

  • The lads were obviously having a laugh with this one... Probably egged on my the success of some of those silly sing-a-long tunes that top the charts on occasion. At this point Jaap Eggermont was still on drums (he would go on to produce the global hit 'Stars on 45'... remember, that cool medley of Beatle tunes? 'We are start on 45...'). After at least one more drummer (for their '8 Miles High' period they got Cesar Zuiderwijk and became a 'rock' band... 'Radar Love' etc. was their new standard.

  • Ah, to have been around in the 70's...is this song about, ahem, oral sex? George was beautiful. (Women have hips people) Good Looking Band. I hope I get to see them live as they are still performing and I think they are awesome.

  • @Lekecity

hahaha:) zondag op moederdag:) de kids:)

  • George looks so cute.... but a bit drunk too...hahaha. Love the song!

  • I can't believe this is the same group that sings twilight zone

  • Oh ja!!!! Ich war 15 als ich sie so zum ersten Mal gesehen habe. Seitdem sind sie meine absolute Lieblingsband. Bis zum heutigen Tag und in aller Ewigkeit.

  • 1969 whoop, check out the hairdo's!!

  • Rinus lijkt op Neil Young!!

  • needs more cowbell

  • man not only has this band been arowne dfor ever but they have a veriety of sounding songs

  • lekker oldschool of niet dan

  • Te gek man!! moet je eens kijken hoe lang die kerels al spelen!! Een van de beste Nederlandsche bands !

  • kuo tie jang shong -he ´hut?? Froiést Laöd!! Gong-´Huä... KIEN´T- TÓNG TÂÕÕÕ!!!!!!

  • that boy is very skin

  • Well, That's the first song where I see G. Kooymans NOT playing guitar, but percussion.

  • @bunnyhop0123

As I recall this right: It was a joke to turn all the instruments all around for this video clip.

  • I love them since 1972, but I'm speechless! It's very possible that I have at last found the musicians who wrote the theme from Scooby Doo!!

  • ...and there ain't no mixture

that will give you back your youth

No mystic machine that makes the sand turn to gold

Like there ain't no magic word

that holds you back from getting old ...

  • Wow, cute guys! What has happened to them? Are they still together and performing?

  • @peperudi yes they are still together!

  • @vampire4000 Thanks, I googled them out; amazing career indeed and impressive songs. Their 80s' are slightly too dark for me but they are still performing!!!! (sadly in their 60s - I can't believe it!!!) What is their lead-singer's name in this clip and in Buddy Joe?

  • @peperudi the singer in this clip and in Buddy Joe (my favorite song) is George Kooymans, he is born in 1948.

The lead singer is normaly Barry Hay, on drums Cesar Zuiderwijk en Rinus Gerritsen on bas and keyboard.

  • @vampire4000 I checked Blind Love out - impressive! Thanks. And so is Love is the Only Magic. What was the 5 May 2010 concert with G. Kooymans' participation about?

  • @peperudi the 5th of may, we celebrate the end of world war two, and there are freedomconcerts througout the land.

  • @vampire4000 and in about 40 years you celebrate the end of Dutch history. Know your sharia. It's the next wave!

  • @BroughamConspiracy Your sharia?????

    LOL

  • @BroughamConspiracy , you good luck with obama! Greetings from holland!

  • @peperudi taka a look here George Kooymans & Frank Carillo - A Blind Love (official promo video).

  • @peperudi Why sadly? They probably love what they do! All the bands that were AROUND in the 60's are pretty much IN their 60's now... :)

  • @PlaceSoFarAway I agree. The 60s bands have a particularly rich output which they can be proud of. Yet, it's difficult to link these vibrant boys to their current age (no ageism, no negative implication!). It's just that their generation shaped the looks and fashion/ music taste of the next five decades. It is difficult to accept that the boys-next-door might have 'moved on' with time.

  • @PlaceSoFarAway

As for Golden Earring, their songs are truly brilliant! They should have received far broader international coverage!

  • te gek nummer

  • They hate this one themselves...

  • bubble gum pop lol

  • heard a little story on the radio just a while ago.

at that time these guys thought i'd be funny to switch places just for the heck of it.

glad they cleaned up their act though...

  • Diese Holl--ies waren spitze drauf.Ich liebe Golden Earring.

  • What an embarrassing dated '60s bubblegum pop song from this great hard-rock band. The 1970s were their greatest era. George looks real pretty.

  • Mit diesem Song habe ich meine Vater irre gmacht!

  • LOL. Sounds like the freakin' Arcfhies!

    I love this!!!

  • love this song. very different from the other songs of the golden earring but good for a change

  • who'd have thought watching this that they would go on to produce Radar Love? LOVE Golden Earrings - THANKS for the upload

  • This is the previous version of what today is called "The Josty band" a Dutch group of autistics and downsyndromes. Luckely todays television has been put together a little more sophisticated (watch 0:46 as he isn't able to hit the drum) (watch the whole video as he isn't able to playback) although his looks were the reason he was in this video. Even as a non-gay i'lld still love to shag this mother... Is this really the Golden Earring? Is it really Barry Hayes on guitar???

  • @netherlandspolicy this is a very old song! dis you ever listen to a recent more song. because this is a little soft but in the 80ies they made great songs.

  • dude im not gay man but the singer in this song in hotter then some of the girls at my school

  • don't know if it was the good weed I just smoked or the sound and video was outta sync, either way it's funny as hell stoned

  • 1968 nummer 1 in de top 40

    goud van oud

  • I don't have a gay molecule in me, but that vocalist is beautiful enough to make the most hardcore hetero swoon......

  • Tomthat's the most sensible comment here.

That Kooymans dude was nut for nuthin, a first rate lady puller.

  • Well, if isn't the male Karen Carpenter!

  • !968,

    super

  • The Earrings were still pretty much a pop band and this song with the Rolling stones influenced usage of latin drums and Clavecimble reflects that, they still were a band perfectly at home in the charts with the Mamas and the Papas, the Byrds and The Hollies.

  • GOEIE OUWE ZENNE EN ZEVER NIE!Of is hetgeen ge tegewoordig hoort zo vrolijk?Ge zoudt er iets aan overhouden!En dit is gewoon een ongecompliceerd vrolijk deuntje nie meer nie minder.

  • Maybe that's why he married you

  • Hahahah! He looks like a woman here

  • @leonvisser i thought he was a woman until you sed :P

  • @leonvisser How *he?* they are with 4 Leon...LOL!!!

  • @leonvisser you looks like a woman

  • You wished......tonto

  • Their next hit was different

    watch?v=q6JB9o9W1-g

  • Reminds me of Spinal Tap's "Flower People" period.

Hardly a speck of the great band they became.

  • its earring not earrings.. u want to offend dutch ppl? racist

  • In the beginning the group was called the Golden Earrings...

  • @JoopFCG Before that, they were called Tornado's

  • haha stupid

  • Not true, George Kooymans is also singing the first part in the song Twilight zone and did another 45 miles on his own.

    +

The first period of the Golden Earring 1961-1968 they had another singer called Frans Krassenburg

  • So different from their other stuff. I mean, I've heard Radar Love and Twilight Zone on our rock station countless times, but this???

  • This was there earlier period, Golden Earring had 2 periods, first period with singer Frans Krassenburg. After he left and Barry Hay came to replace him they started to make harder songs, like twilight zone and Radar love.

  • They must be incredibly embarrased by this.

    Signed,

    A Big Fan of GE

  • Not all their hits ... there are quite a number of songs on which George Kooymans sings. One other is Buddy Joe IIRC.

  • my goodness, i never heard this band, but I accidentlly got their Twilight Zone song and realized how rich and great the song is.... they sing great even in live too!

  • Wat leuk! Nostalgie...... Ineens weer vrolijk. Dank je

  • ''''',、

  • Damn, George Kooymans was #@%& beautiful. And this is coming from a straight dude.

  • Golden Earring at his best!!! Amai dat is jaaaren geleden , ze konden mee met de Beatles ;)

  • how ik wil ff mijn excuus aanbieden, ik drukte op de min duim inplaats van de plus (schaam)

    srry....

  • That better not have bombed the beatles. Lemme go get my dad to translate >.>

  • He only said they could compete with the Beatles :] which they could, having bands like KISS and Aerosmith as opening acts and scoring some huge international hits and all :]

  • Fantastisch! Nooit dit clipje gezien, wel véél gehoord natuurlijk....zo een happy liedje! Een classic!

  • earthgurl...I'm glad yr dad is able to translate the comment, is he dutch, just like the earring(s)?

  • echt ongelofelijk leuk om te zien, die jonge koppies, echt blij maar het was natuurlijk een hele prettige tijd the 60's

  • Wow a dutch person. I need my dad to translate x3

  • This is one of my fav songs... ever. :o

  • I'm out of words. But it is nice in a strange androgynous way.

  • i think they couldnt hear the music well cause of george playing those drums for real,he had no idea how to play!

  • Man I'm glad I wasn't around for the 70s. Great music (way better than the present) but men and women looked about the same. From any kind of distance this looks like a girl band. Especially the guitar player (cowbell in this video); looks like a girl's head and clothes on a man's body.

  • have you ever seen the members of j-pop/j-rock bands?

most of them are guys, most of them look like girls ;)

    anyway..

    this song is great!!

    i love the golden earring^^

wanted to go to their concert in november, but my parents wouldn't let me.. D:

  • I love this ...How could they know, they would be writing songs like "Radar Love"

    later on...:-)

  • Vette pruuk haar,, goed nummer.

  • I like it: It is slightly different from Kasenetz Katz Singing Orchestral Cirkus, but both versions are groovy.

  • ik vind dit toch een minder nummer van de earring

  • that cowbell player really shreds

  • He's also their lead guitar player.

  • No doubt! It is obviously an attempt to cash in on bubblegum1 Kind of sounds like Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mickey & Tits (or whatever their name was)

  • Actually Kooymans (singer) wrote this song for another band. Their producer saw the hitpotential and made them record it. It's not their favourite song. Although nowadays they play a llot old songs, this one never makes it to their playlist.

  • so funny, like it.A good GE song...

Golden Earing (netherland rocks European rock)

"Dong dong diki diki dong" elvira2262

  • Cesar really look different back than...

  • Had Cesar even joined at that point?

  • Cesar joined the band in '70.

  • no. this is jaap eggermont.

  • That's not Cesar, it's their first drummer Jaap Eggermont

  • And Jaap Eggermont is another great Dutch product. He produces the Stars on 45 single that scored a huge world record hit and was even nr 1 in USA in the 80s !

  • Actually, Jaap was their second drummer. He replaced Freddy van Hilst in '64.

  • Hahahaha..Golden Earrings first number one hit.Sounds diferent than their usual "classics" huh???

  • I like the song, But it's sound way different from the other GE songs

  • yep i was a hippy and it was an era that was way better than today

  • Dong? Dickie Dickie Dong? Is it too obvious for everyone here to mention it, or is it me who's just too vulgarized? If they sing what I hear, this song surely must have been banned from airplay in the US (if they knew it at all over there). With its brilliant video, this tune could have been even more subversive than FZ's Bobby Brown when played to non-English speakers ten years later ;

  • Dutch pop history at his best!

  • you mean ROCK!!

  • *Pop*

  • @oldehove1 woaw this is so different from the golden earring i saw playing radar love.i didn't know they were a pop group.

  • this are not hippies !!!!!!!!

    this are dandy-freaks

Spass beiseite:no this are popmusicus from Holland

  • :) :) :) :-)) ;-) :-)) *g* ;-)) (: ((-:& (:(:

why you put it second time back the kommentar.

    your soooooooooooooooogreat!!

You make the 2 points away from my side-?! *g*

  • who put this side commentars from the side with dong doki diki dong at this side? I don`t understand this "Politik" Hacker around?! It`s the same drummer Cesar Zuiderwijk by Radar love and here, he is the psychatrist in this clip that`s not a joke... whats this Fake fake &:(
  • some guy; spezialsiten; kopieren die Texte hin und her, bad hacker :(

  • No fake around %;-))

  • wow, chapman and chinn must've been inspired by this song to write "papa joe"..

  • This is tippycal '67 innocent flower children music . from a coinnaseur viewpoint, this is bloody interresting, actually,I think it's very cute ! &:~)

  • Oh good God, look at them, LOL. Yes, the same band who did "Radar Love" and "Twilight Zone". Only the drummer is different.

  • I bet you they're not playing this song live anymore. lol. It actually looks ten times worse than it sounds. Just an innocent little summer tune. Great way to tease George!

  • True True cute Georgie

  • Let me tell you this, it was their first number # 1 hit in the Netherlands!!!! Yes, The Golden Earring in the 60's was a bit different than what they became in and after the 70's

  • I'm not a great Golden Earring(s) connaiseur, but I think this song was even a-typical for the band they were in the late 60's.

  • GREAT !!!

    i couldn´t stop smiling..so cute !

  • sweet George:Golden George for ever ....timeghost

    bionda from Heidelberg now Düsseldorf

  • my bad.......couldn't believe it was the same band

  • uh..........no it isn't

  • Yes, it is!!

  • Oooo yes it is!! And, believe it or not, they're still rocking, check out some more on you tube!

  • I can't believe it - the same Band who performed the all time favorite rock song "radar love"????
