    the pads render all strikes pointless, you'd be forced to utilize

    1)taking them off balance

    2)holds,throws,swipes

    that's unrealistic bullshit. saw dude kept striking the padded helmet-wearing attackers and they just kept attacking.

    In real life, they would be stunned/hurt/disoriented even if just for 1 second or 2.

    in this video, they just keep attacking him as if he didn't do shit, that's unrealistic.

    REMOVE THE FUCKING PADS AND HELMET...RE-SHOOT VIDEO

  • @chrisgrinhard Thank you for our thoughts, Chris. Do you see the guy dropping at the final scene? That's Keith and he got really knocked out in this demo :) My point being: HighGear (the suit) is an impact reduction property that allows transfer of impact but reduces it to a degree you don't get seriously hurt. However knock outs and bleeding noses etc. do occur. As Coach Blauer puts it: training should hurt but never injure. So I'm totally with you on that matter. Only it doesn't apply here.

    I'm just used to going at it(fighting/sparring) without pads/helmets/etc.

    That's how I've always trained/sparred.

    but I respect where you're coming from about you were trying to reduce injuries to your crew.

  • Guys, thank you for commenting on this video. If I may clarify: the SPEAR System is not built around a special move but rather around how the human body reacts towards violence and danger. The SPEAR tactic (use of the forearm) is a simple evolution of the natural flinch response. Needless to say that Mr. Blauer did not build a whole self protection system around this single move. There's LOTS more to it than spearing everything and everyone away :-)

    I only see the flinch move against hook's. How does it work against straight punches? i never saw it.

    Can we be injuried in the arms or in the face?

  • @jaimeneves Thank you, we get this question a lot. You see the flinch is an instinctive reaction and gets triggered by any stimulus, that's been introduced too quickly into our perception. We use the haymaker as an example because it is the most occurring assault in the streets. Also by a good non violent posture you negate straight punches pretty well. Needless to be said:you can't spar with the SPEAR System, not a martial art. Where'd you rather be hit/injured? Very resistant forearms or head?

  • the spear thing is brilliant, im a kickboxer and when ever any of the lads i know go to grab me or anything i use the spear thing never been gotten the better off, handy thing

  • @thecyberpunkten for a kickboxer it might be new... its standart in self defence and ju-jutsu. Seen it in wing chun and karate groups, too.

  • I've studied various self defense systems but there seems to be a lot to like in this system, though I've never tried it. It seems relatively simple but fairly intellectual with how hand to hand self defense is to be handled. A simple and small set of moves that could be administered when they are needed and are compatible with the most common hand to hand situations. If you don't mind me asking how much are his seminars?

  • @valgorlin I know what you're thinking and I've been there, too. I have a solid background in boxing so when I first met the Spear System my thoughts were somewhat similar to yours. But what I was actually referring to, just as you are now, is the Spear Tactic, about one percent of what the Spear System is all about. The reason it's featured in most the videos is, that converting the instinctive flinch response is paramount and the Spear Tactic is one of the most reliable structures to do that.
