@azinoth Mind Spike removes your DoT's from the target and it also removes Shadow Orbs so you can't even use it at the start when you're waiting for orbs to spawn. DoTs are much, much better damage per cast, so hopefully that answered your question, if not let me know.

Ya I Ben playing for around 2years and I have done a Mage and warlock but they weren't what I was looking for but priest looks promising but I will keep in touch if I need any help along the way
@MetsDude1222 Not into your regular rotation. The only time you'll use mind spike is for low health adds. Exampls are: Spinners from Beth'tilac, oozes from Omnitron, and heroic dungeon trash.
@AlexDman161 It's not that it's not viable, it's just not possible. The only DoT that you can "clip" is Mind Flay and you actually want to "clip" that after the second tick so there is not even a millisecond of downtime on it. It's a rather small DPS increase, but the best of the best players fight for every tick possible. I've never heard of VT not ticking until the last 10 seconds. I'll have to test that on a dummy when I get home.
I don't know if someone has already posted this, but you should keep the running and jumping around to a minimum. On top of it being a bit distracting while we are trying to listen to you, it started getting me a bit dizzy. Don't get me wrong i do that all the time, its just feels different when watching it on video. Other than that, good guide :)

@ninjasauceshadow As much spirit as you can get until 17%, anything over 17% is wasted though. Haste is better than hit, even below the cap, but crit/mastery should be reforged to spirit if you're not at the cap. Let me know if you need further explanation.

Just in reply to this comment-you only need 17% on raid bosses. Regular heroic dungeons are 6% hit cap. Now, if you are dual gearing for your shadow and offspec heal, stacking spirit even in heroics is crucial. If you are just dps'ing, you can take that roughly 1000 spirit between 6 and 17% and put it straight into haste or crit, and do pretty ridiculous dps

Answer: Mind Spike causes all DoT effects to be removed from the target so any remaining ticks of VT, SWP, & DP would be clipped and cause a massive loss in DPS. Because each of the DoTs have different durations they will almost never come off a target at the same time. I would guess that whatever you read was out of date, when mind spike was announced it was thought that it was going to be our filler nuke.

I blame WoW's guild recruitment since the search function is broken it's nearly impossible for weekend raiders to find weekend groups and weekend groups to find weekend raiders. /sadface
But MB only when i have 3orbs?
