  • Yucj this is not a good last boss song.

  • And that happens when people get to used to omnious latin chanting... Not everything has to be a "One Winged Angel" to be a good final boss theme... I love this one! It fits the battle more than well (especially the part when Yurick takes off his eyepatch).

  • I really liked this theme. Really well made, and a fitting theme for the last boss.

  • hmm he issnt that strong after all pff weakling

  • I used you and everyone else. As pawns to get my revenge

    0:00

  • he is too strong that fcking dagran when he transforms man i hate him!!!!!! and this music is somhow creepy i am going to train me to lv 70 i am 68 now and the others ill see how fast they up

  • 3:28 wtf?

  • @alucard1022 ingame i actually thought "Dagran is making strange noises... He'll wipe the floor with me the next 30 seconds."

  • @alucard1022 Now that's insane for ya.

  • The first 1:10 is missing.

  • @davedesdre

    WHY!?

  • freakin awesome sound

  • When I heard some of the sounds in this song, I thought a demon lived inside my laptop.

  • Last story confirmed for NoA. This music is playing.

  • like a boss

  • :O parts of the Metroid theme.

  • Well, at least it's different. Not really sure if it's good or bad. I need to see how well it fits the actual battle. Musically this is pretty awesome, just not something I'd expect from a fantasy game. The sound effects kinda kill the mood too.

But hey, as long as it's not a mere metal song like Jecht's battle theme in FF10, I'm satisfied. That thing was just painful.

  • @ZealSeraph

well go type last story boss 65 into the search bar watch a vid by SnKouli

you can find out if the theme fits there

  • @OneWingedHamburger I would, but I don't want to spoil the final boss for myself. There's only a week to go before this game comes out anyway.

  • @ZealSeraph that's a good call, because it's pretty much ULTIMATE spoilers that you don't want to see.

  • @ZealSeraph

well I didnt spoil it for myself either

  • Hear it from 3:30. wtf lol

  • Dj Nobuo!

  • thing songs has its ups and downs i like it overall though

  •

  • It sounds like "iiiiccccceeeeee ccccrrrrreeeeeaaaaaammmm" and "yoooooooooshi" is being grumbled in the background.

  • go and listen to ''Bonds'' after that listen to that :D

    awesome^^

  • I like this theme even more than "Roar of the Departed" because it has that twisted "insanity" touch to it. It's also refreshing to hear something that isn't overused chorus with pseudo-latin.

  • @davedesdre WTF???????

  • one word EPIC

its sounds strange but i love it :D

    2012 Europe release, cant wait

  • @davedesdre its not that bad, you have to hear this when you're fighting the last boss

  • This is from Uematsu? it sounds like his music but the disc that i downloaded appears Yoshitaka Suzuki as the composer.

  • @HellMaynard

Sorry bro, this is a music rip from the game ISO. The official OST wasn't available back then. I'll fix the tags later.

  • @Gavacent is the OST availible now then ?

  • @HellMaynard Suzuki is the arranger, I guess... But Uematsu is the composer, that's for sure.

  • @Haseosan1987 Yeah, it sounds all the way like Uematsu Music!

  • This isn't actually terribly experimental. Listen to the Lost Odyssey soundtrack, or anything by the Black Mages and you'll see he's been leaning this way for quite some time now. Great track regardless.

  • you can tell he exprimented with this track which isn't a bad thing composers should always try to change it up every game and not sound the same all the time props Nobou.

  • 0:29 is SOOOOO FINAL FANTASY Final Battle Themes, like Zeromus, Ultimecia and a lot...

  • @LexSeifer Herp derp, you mean other songs composed by the same person, it's called having a style.

  • It's a great final boss theme, it reminds me The Extreme and Seymour's Battle. The sounds effects at 3:29 are a bit annoying. Kinda Lavos and Zeromus style. :D

  • 0:30 zeromus? D:

  • What are the pigs doing in this track?

  • I bought the soundtrack a couple days ago and the person who uploaded this cut the beginning part of this song:/

  • Everytime I hear the intro I imagine Uematsu descending from the heavens with a keytar in his hands as planets collide and explode behind him.

  • @trumsolon Dude...you just blew my mind.

  • @trumsolon

    lol XD

  • Hmmm, quite meh but I wouldn't say it's bad

  • This soundtrack is experimental in parts. I can understand why Nobuo changed it up for this game, I do it sometimes in order to avoid doing the same things again and again..

    Very good compositions though.

  • Has anyone upload the track which plays two fights before the final boss ?

It was pretty original and sounded good too, but i can't find it on youtube

  • GREAT!!!

  • One of the most brilliant last boss themes in recent memory. Just finished the game today and during the fight this song gave an amazing vibe. Great to see Uematsu trying such experiments.

  • Apparently, the name of this track is :

    "The One Ruling Everything".

  • I actually really love this track! I wish Mistwalker would make a new RPG for Xbox 360 again. . . like Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey.

  • @merzitar

Well, theres still a chance they might develop for Microsoft again if MS decides to commission a game. But I think Nintendo might have them making another game soon either for DS or Wii. It's just a feeling I have.

  • It started off ok, then just got worse and worse as it went on. I honestly don't care if it's supposed to sound like that or it represents some character or final boss, that doesn't change the fact that it doesn't sound that good.

  • @PsychoKrazyTime If you don't like the song then dont comment on it. My god.

its epic sounding to many other people.

  • @o3killu Wow, this is easily the stupidest comment I've ever seen on youtube. If I don't like something, I'm going to say how I feel, just like most people say how they feel on youtube videos that I like. If they don't like it, I don't reply to them and get mad, I let them say how they feel. Someone told me to come here and listen to this music, so I did and I didn't like it. At least I don't come here all the time just to bash it. I don't care if others like it, I don't and I state how I feel.

  • @PsychoKrazyTime Don't waste your time complaining to that idiot. I agree with you all the way. And trust me, I've seen more retarded comments on youtube than that moron's. I, personally, wouldn't waste my time explaining to dumbasses. Don't you agree?

  • @PsychoKrazyTime If you don't liek it,then ignore it. Besides, there are way moar stupidest comments here on utubez

  • @PsychoKrazyTime Fact? More like opinion, but *shrugs*

  • good

  • Thinking it twice, is good xd

  • lolwut it sounds like a mischief maker boss or something...

    But, I don´t know, just...meh.

    Only the beggining rulz.

  • This song grew on me. I love it now. Sounds soo Rockish and metalish. This song really fits the Final boss and the fast paced gameplay that TLS has.

By the way, I blasted this song in my car the today and it was AWESOME.

  • Hey look guys, it maybe less to what you expected, but it's still a good final boss theme. And besides, I can come up with a few games with even more disappointing final boss themes, but I'm not here to change your opinions. Just to say, it's not worth it saying its "disappointing" when you know it's probably better than any other final boss theme that's even worse than this one.

  • To the complainers, this song is SUPPOSED to sound "strained". It was tailor made to fit the ending of the game, and yes, it sounds like garbage without the accompanying video.

I'm not dick enough to spoil who the final boss is, but once you experience the battle for yourself you will understand.

  • @magicalmerge Now you made me curious!

  • @magicalmerge Because I have finished the game, I just agree with it.

  • ...well I think I know what the problem is, with this song.

As has been said before, compared to "The Seal is Broken" and "Howl of the Departed", this song really is...bland.

But keep something in mind : the gameplay in Last Story is VERY different from those of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. And I think the music had to fit the gameplay somewhat, had to feel more "action-oriented". So in a way, yes, the music fits its title.

But it's still a bit disappointing...

  • From 3:30 some sort of evil, demonic, monstruous parrots suffering of laryngitis are being strangled. Horrible.

  • This song is brilliant. Totally different from the rest of the OST which is almost entirely orchestral, and awesome.

  • Do we know for sure if this is really the final boss battle theme? If so, I'm surprised at the choice of name for the piecel Judging from Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey("The Seal is Broken", "Howl of the Departed"), I would have thought he'd be a little more creative in terms of naming this game's final battle theme. It's not horrible, just not what I'd expected. It's sounds a little too "spacey" and doesn't seem to fit the medieval aspect of the game. Hope I'll change my mind once I play it.

  • honestly i like this a lot from my initial listen, i think a lot of people have very specific expectations of uematsu's final boss songs in regards to the "epic" compositional style and emotions associated with it. i think this song is well-composed but i agree that the choice of synths was not stellar.

  • This is terrible for a final boss. WTF is going on with Uematsu.

  • 3:32 - Best part of the song, even better than 0:46

    ...jk lol

  • The music is great but it doesn't fit for a final battle theme...

  • Hmm... The first :35 seconds are awesome, they sound just like a FFIX battle theme. The synth lead afterwards, till 2:17, is indeed awful and cacophonic, I don't know how did he choose to use it XD The rest of the song is okay to me! I like its vibe.

  • Haha... You weren't kidding. D:

    It sounds pretty shit alright...

  • This is so uninspired and lacking any sophistication. After the first two songs were released and I found out it was Uematsu, it sounded like he really expanded his horizons, really broke through to become a composer after being a song writer. Nope, I'm hearing some of the worst keyboard work of his life....I was bloody praying he'd leave the keyboard alone and switch to piano, which he seemed to do for LO and some BD themes. The more I hear the more painful this is.

  • @Aetheras After being a song writer? He's been a composer before being a song writer. In fact he first started composing for TV Commercials, and playing (not composing) for small-time bands. He started early but he didn't go FULL time until 1985..which was still composing. Song Writing came AFTER.

  • @Gestriden and yes this is very disappointing, it sounds as if we went into an alternate reality where this technology of games was discovered..in the 70's, and not in the good 70s either that synth is terribly leady.

  • @Gestriden Calling him a composer is an insult to the term Composer. He has never been classically trained, has no ear for composition and directly tying themes together. He's gotten somewhat better over time, but he remains a song writer, as he handles each piece like an individual song, because he doesn't know any other approach. Listen to him, then listen to any composer, there's a vast difference in approach. Listen to him then listen to any rock band...similarities abound.

  • @Aetheras This sounds more that you're hating on him now, "Never been clasically trained" so you have to be classically trained to be a composer? This is the biggest BS I've heard in my LIFE. Do you even understand what the term composer means? It means you create music withought vocals, which is how he started. If you really don't believe he has a classical ear either listen to pieces such as Dancing Mad, and Aria these are two VERY classical based pieces. He has created timeless songs before.

  • @Aetheras Though now days his music is more on the rock then anything else nowdays, but to say he's not a composer is an insult to yourself knowledge of the term because that would mean Shoji Meguro is not a composer, in fact by your knowledge that knocks off a strong amount of composers out there. He started as a composer, and he will always be regarded as a composer. Despite hiis few songwrites he has composed more then he has songwritten.

  • @Gestriden You're forgetting the term Composer is now a commercial term, one that applied in that sense, fits Uematsu. In the classical sense, you cannot, because he is not. He's a brilliant song writer, but he couldn't compose a musical score as a musical score to save his life.

  • @Aetheras I don't see that as a problem. Uematsu never claimed he's the next Mozart or an amazing classical composer. He just someone who composes music for video games, hence a composer. As far as I know, the term composer used for both the classical and commercial term, so I don't think it's an insult to call Uematsu a composer.

  • @ayaeien That was a bit harsh to say about Composer, but for myself I just separate artists into two groups, song writers and composers given the generic concept of a Composer prior to the early 1900's meant someone like Mozart even if the definition was someone who writes music, so I tend to literally see it that way, foolishly or not. However my main point wasn't about the Composer bit, that's simply an argument that caused the stir. It is that I don't like this song, though the more...cont.

  • @ayaeien Damn small spaces...anyway the more I listen to it, the more I don't mind the rest of the song, it's really the random screeches that just throw me off and have me ready to pull my hair out because it just doesn't work. I think the chanting would sound better without it, even if it does sound rather muffled compared to the epic chanting in LO's final battle theme.

  • @Aetheras Actually I kinda disturbed with the chanting...is someone being tortured on the background during the final boss? Seriously it sounds just like that.

  • @Aetheras Listen to the rest of the soundtrack. It's almost entirely orchestral. Piano and strings mostly. This is the only retro-sounding song on it. I don't mind it. It's catchy and gets your blood pumping. Love the part at 2.18.

Most of the soundtrack is very unusual for Nobuo. I think I read Sakaguchi told him he wanted something a bit different.

Check out the one called Sad. It's phenomenal.

  • @trumsolon Ya, that's what I keep hearing about, which makes me happier, now that the whole soundtrack is up, I'll definitely be checking it all out. I'll give Sad a listen to for sure. I see what you mean about the 2:18 marker, it's a good bit of keyboard but I prefer the bit just after that starts about 2:29/2:30. I just prefer more guitar work. Kind of like black mages, the ones with some piano sounding keyboard I love (Matoya's Cave) or the ones that really get into the Guitar.

  • @trumsolon This is not the only retro sounding one. Theres a raid mode one

  • awesome final battle song !!!

  • ...this is the Final Boss theme?

    ...I feel disappointed...

I mean, the tune is quite original and catchy and everything...but before that, there's been "The Seal is Broken" in Blue Dragon and the amazing "Roar of the Departed Souls" in Lost Odyssey.

This, in comparison, is...I don't know...maybe I was just expecting something different.

  • wow, classic uematsu right here. coulda come straight from one of his many FF soundtracks.
