  • this has helped me so much and now I'm gonna be able to upgrade my 3GB RAM :)

  • Great tutorial! How do you find out what the max RAM upgrade is for any model? I need to upgrade the HP pavillion DV2 notebook pc with the athlon (TM) Neo processor MV 40. It currently has 2GB RAM (as originally sold). It's running Vista very slowly.

  • @sabonaalkan I just Google the model number and read around on different sites for the full specs.

  • чувак знает все. кроме того что такое фокус на видеокамере

  • Thank you. You just saved me from spending money unecessarily.

  • im gonna buy a hp pavilion g7-1210sd with 4 gb ram how can i upgrade this to 6 8 or more gb ram

    please reply

  • @kendo4life1 Just buy two 4GB DDR3 laptop RAM sticks and install them, there's 8GB!

  • @kendo4life1 cant your computer wont use the gigs

  • Thanks for replying + sorry its 6176sa!

  • Hey i got a hp pavilion dv6 6716sa would i get the ddr3 1066 mhz? I got 4gb in and want to expand to 8gb?!

  • @MaccaMarley I can't find your machine online... contact whoever you bought it from for detailed specifications.

  • @MaccaMarley Yeah, 8GB DDR3 should work then.

  • @jamesrschultz hello i own a hp g62 machine and i wanna upgrade to 8 gig ram i have ddr3 and i found two 4 gig ram bricks and i just wondered can it overheat and be destoryed ? please tell me and your tutorial where very helpful and motivating and am gonna save this vid for later times :D

  • @cod6master1 Nope, RAM doesn't overheat. You'll be fine!

  • @jamesrschultz thank you very much

  • I have an HP Pavilion dv9627cl. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could recommend the type of memory and how high I can expand it to.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • @duple07 DDR2 memory, 4GB highest.

  • Dude thank you soooooo much man have a cookie

  • Thanks heaps!

  • i have the DV6700 to how high ram can i have?

  • @GuerreroXBI Probably 4GB.

  • hi there just wondering is this the same as a dv2000 and whats the maximum of ram i can put into my laptop thanks

  • @JoshxHD Says online you can have up to 2GB, but I bet 4GB would work okay.

  • I have a hp g71150us. Can anybody suggest where to purchase the correct ram and if the installation is just as easy as it is in this video? Thanks!

  • @mrood17 You need DDR3 1066MHz laptop RAM. Buy it anywhere, Best Buy, Wal Mart, Ebay, and the install should be similar to this! Best of luck!

  • @TheFunnyMonkeyBoy That's odd, I've never had it not recognize it. Sorry, I don't know what to tell you.

  • Really nice tutorial, good voice, showing everything good. but i have a hp pavilion tx1000 and i was wondering if by any chance you know if its the same procedure as this laptop.

  • @PSNChiko Should be about the same procedure... you should find a trap door on the bottom of the machine for the RAM.

  • @jamesrschultz go it. thank you. and anoother question. Can vista home premium x32 bit run 4gb of ram? if you font know, if there any way to find out?

  • @PSNChiko 32 bit Windows supports around 2.75-3.75GB of RAM. Depends on the machine type and graphics.

  • @jamesrschultz Ok thankyou. Decided to just buy a new Laptop. Getting A Dell XPS 15. THANK YOU FOR REPLYING!

  • HP is easy to change laptop RAM. Most other computers are complicated and too much plastics to get through. nice how to.

  • awesome! Thank you!

  • Soemthing weird happened. On my laptop it came with a Ati 550v then all of a sudden it switched to and ati mobility radeon hd 4650. What happend, and how do i fix it back?

  • @shinyLucario36 Check your drivers- Windows update.

  • @jamesrschultz totally worked.

  • cant see shiz

  • Besides needing windows 7 64 bit. do i need a quad-core processor to have 6-8 gigs of ram? I have a dual-core amd turion processor. Thanks

  • @legendarydynasty1992 No, you don't need a quad core for that. The motherboard has to support it though, and the dual core processor.

  • @jamesrschultz thank you for replying. Is there anyway for me to determine if my motherboard has that ability so support that amount of ram? I am not good with opening my machine unfortunately.

  • @legendarydynasty1992 It's hard to do. Google around for compatibility, sorry I can't help further.

  • I love how you tell people about the risk of electrostatic discharge that can ruin peopleS computers if not done properly .......DUMBASS

  • @ChiCity000 Static electricity in a computer is actually very harmful...

  • you could have used a little more light...

  • I easent sure if this works on DV4's i have replaced the HDD witch seems to be in the same place as this on.

  • i have 288mb RAM on my computer.. i have a broken screen HP pavalion laptop with 2G RAM

  • am i able to take the RAM memory out of my laptop and put it into my computeR?

  • So does this work with all hp pavlion computers?

And can you please suggest where a sould buy the ram. :)

  • @rextheiphone Any HP of this generation, yes. RAM can come from Bestbuy, ebay, crucial, samsung, anything big tech name.

  • could i add extra to a HP Pavilion DV8-1080ea?

  • @liamjd1 Yes, just make sure it's right for your computer. Google your model number and RAM.

  • i got 512 mb how much is in gb?

  • @SuperCoolguy81 512MB=.50GB.

  • hey i got a question when i try to put another memory ram my computer makes a weird sound and when i take it off the sound goes away why?

  • @SuperCoolguy81 Never heard that before, good question. Sorry I can't help.

  • cant find out how to open the ram shit at 1:47

  • i got dv5600 is it compatible with mine??cause am looking to see if i can install a 4 gb ram or higher to my laptop?

  • @SuperCoolguy81 Cant find any specs of it, but if it is DDR2 it would work.

  • hey i have a hp g60 is it ddr2 compatible? wit default of 3 gb of ram so do i got one 3gb ram stick or do i have one 2gb and a 1 gb?

  • @punkrockmano You have 1 1GB and 1 2GB. It is DDR2.

  • hey i have dv2000. would a ddr2 ram be compatible?

  • @mamookungkung Yes, DDR2 RAM should work.

  • i have 4 gigs of ram it runs awesome but should i upgrade my ram even if im not going to upgrade my processor i mean if the processor is not upgraded with the ram is the ram going to help my computer in any way ?

  • @madhustla 4GB is fine.

  • whats the most u can put on a laptop that is running a 64 bit operating system

  • @572dwayne 128GB I believe.

  • @jamesrschultz hey i have an hp pavilion dv6000, how much ram can the pavillion hold up too?? i have 1gb ram an wanted to install a 4gb.

  • @richkid62 It'll do 4GB.

  • see i got a thing where it makes your computer go faster but it said you need atleast

2gb of ram and it says i have 958.4 mb of ram???im not good with computers should i get 2gb of ram?? or not???

  • @armeniandude99 I would highly recommend upgrading.

  • can you install memory ontop of the memory you took out? you shown me how to install the memory, but what happens if i want to install on top of that memory, is that not possible?

  • @liam4murray1 Depends on the computer ram slot layouts. Some do have that, some dont.

  • Nice hockey table

  • Thanks. This was very helpful!! I will now have a better time. Perhaps the real problem with VIsta was that it was trying to run on 2 gig and that's just not enough.

  • But what screwdriver you used ?? T8 T9 ?

  • @Talanov98765 I have no idea. I used one that fits.

  • this works on my laptop hp dv 8 ???

  • @Talanov98765 Yeah, very simular setup.

  • @jamesrschultz Thank you for reply!

  • after you intall the new ram do you have to go anywhere on your laptop so it will recognize it cause when i go back on it works but says i still only have 1gb but installed 2????

  • @avayomama Windows is not good at utilizing new RAM. I would backup and reinstall.

  • It may be helpful if you re-did the video with some lights on. At times it's hard to see what your talking about. I would Not tell people to go to BIOS. This step is Not necessary for the memory to work. People may be seeing the Bios for the first time and may be tempted to play with changing some settings they know nothing about. Generally the Bios should Only be accessed by advanced users who take the time to study what a Bios is, what it does and how it works.

  • Great instruction. Thank you for posting! A+++++

  • ok so i have a dv2000 with default ram. i know its a old laptop but my current one broke but i have 2 gb ram in that one. i was wondering if its possible to remove the ram from tha laptop (acer) and put in in the dv2000. (im aware dv2000 allows 2gb max ram)

  • @ravsrayl Yeah, as long as both PCs use the same RAM (If it fits, its the same)

  • @jamesrschultz ok. thnx :)

  • Thanks 4the knowledge

  • hp pavillion aptops you cant change the grahics card there built in as the intel 4500 and nvidia cards are soldered on.

  • I have a dv6000 i think i dont know I just bought it has windows 7 4gbs ram but it doesnt have great graphics, is there a way to upgrade graphics on a laptop

  • If it is possible, I don't know how to do it. The DV6000 has been surpassed by so many other machines, it wouldn't be worth it anymore.

  • @zach854 no you can not do that, the gfx is an onboard chip on laptobs

  • do u have a video to replace a intel processor to a hp laptop

  • No, I've never done that.

  • Hi there i have my pavillion dv6000 with 2 512mb (total 1 gb) ram cards is it possible i can upgrade it to 4 gb i mean would it work (i have windows vista 32 bit) thanks

  • 32 bit Windows can only handle 3GB. I would take out the 2 512MBs, and put in a 2GB and 2GB. Even though only 3GB is useable, since they are both equal, it will perform better than using a 1GB and a 2GB.

  • Thanks, helped me alot!

  • What kind of screwdriver is that?

  • They are jewelry screw drivers, very useful. I think you can get them at Wal Mart or maybe Target

  • I have this laptop

    with linux mint 8 helena

  • hey i have a question, i looked up ram upgrades for sale for the model of my hp laptop..and it says the maximum memory is 4gb..and in your video i noticed there are 2 slots.. considering the max memory, does that mean i could put 4 gb of RAM on each? or as the total?

  • As total, that's usually how they measure it. I would put a 2GB chip in each for best performance.

  • thanks bro

  • Thanks, I just did mine HP pal 6626us and saved twenty dollars from your installation informational video.

Great job on that, thanks, it was so easy I could not understand the charge they asked for at the local PC store.

    Dave in CT

  • thanks men but this need more illumination xD

    but is very useful

  • hello, i have a HP DV5000. would the memory slots be in the same location as yours as well? please let me know, thank you.

  • It should be, but if not it would be very similar. Google a diagram for the DV5000 series if mine is different.

  • all the screw drivers dont work for my hp g60 , can u tell me the correct screw driver

  • PH0-PH2 should work or 1/8 to 3/16th max should work, if not, take it somewhere where they work on computers and have them take a look at it.

  • alright thanks i saw 2 screwdrivers that will work so, i buyed the smallest one and tried it and still didnt work, but it did work on my wireless card, anyway there was one more a bit bigger so il try that next

  • I was trying to find a tutorial on how to replace my memory and I couldn't help but notice your name...Mine is James R Schultz too...weird

  • Very weird. My middle name is Ryan.

  • hey, I have got a HP Pavilion dv6

is it possible to add an additional ram to it?

  • Just like I showed in this video should do it.

  • Hey where can I buy a Ram?

How many gigs can mine support?

  • Bestbuy, Ebay, stores like that. What kind of laptop do you have? (or desktop)

  • Ok thanks.

Well I have an HP Pavillion DV6205US.

  • If I had your notebook, I would buy two 1.00GB 667MHz DDR2 ram sticks.

  • Alright i have the same laptop, i have 2 1gb ram sticks if i put a 2gb ram and leave one 1gb ram stick in there would it improve the computers speed for example the the bootup?

  • Yeah, for sure.

  • Thanks so much, subbed

  • rather than tell people how to possibly mess up thier machine in BIOS (DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING IN THERE!!) why now do start, right click on my computer and hit properties, it tells you there and its SAFE!

  • That's good too, but you get far more in the BIOS. Plus, honestly, there really isn't too dangerous to mess up in the BIOS. Unless you create a password and forget it.

  • but i mean like canging boot drives, if you partition your hard drive or insert a disc, then change the drive it can 'kill' the computer, if windows is on c (main drive) and you accidentally change it to boot from D (Disc drive) then it may cause problems, especially if its a game disc or contains .exe's that has been left in the disc tray. just my thoughts lol, but i do see your point

  • Yeah, but why would people change that stuff? It's on a whole different page in the BIOS.

  • dunno, curiosity? lol

  • so those 2gb sticks in your computer make your computer have 4gb of memory?

  • does it have a webcam?

  • No, not the Dv6809wm

  • i have one with a webcam and i have two little cards but whats the memory? if i have 2 2gb cards will my memory of the laptop be 4gb?

  • Memory is RAM. RAM is stuff that lets your computer load programs, the data is stored in the RAM until you shut down, then all of that is deleted. If you install two 2GB sticks of RAM, and you have a 64-bit OS, you will have 4GB. If you install two 2GB sticks, and you have a 32-bit OS, you will have 3GB of RAM.

  • hahhaha the batery thing was funny geak

  • i dont have that exact laptop, but i unscrewed the area that has the DDR2 memory, and all the stuuf is in one area covered by one cover. i unscrewed it all, and the cover wont come off. only on corner will come up a little. any ideas? but the rest i got after that lol

  • What's the cover heald down by? Is the RAM under the cover?

  • thats the thing O_O there arnt any screws on the cover thats holding the RAM. and the cover doesnt want to move lol

  • thanks a million

  • what would happen if I dont take the battery out befere changing the ram

  • You could short something. This is highly unlikely, but why take chances on ruining a computer.

  • Have you seen your own video? It's so dark I can't even see any screws/trap door. However, good presentation.

  • i hav the same computer, i hav 2 questions...1 do i lose any info by replceing this and 2 how much ram can this computer take

  • 1.) Nope, unless it is powered on of course.

2.) They say 4GB, but that's all they tested, it may take more. I don't stand by this, and 4GB is more than enough for me, so that should be fine.

  • is it that vista 32bit only uses 3gb instead of 4gb?

  • I'm in 64 bit Windows, and it doesn't work. I tried x64 XP, x64 Vista, and even x64 Windows 7 Beta 1. None of it works.

  • what do you mean it does not work? you mean even 64bit vista only shows 3gb instead of 4gb?

I just installed mine 4gb but it only uses 3gb of physical memory. I should have not buy extra 2gb, I should have known this issue.

  • Yeah, in 64-bit Windows, Microsoft only sees 3.00GB.

  • are you sure? did you buy it new or you upgrade it with vista 64bit? because as far as I know enable to have 4gb you must meet the requirement like your graphics and stuff to support 4gb ram.

  • 100% sure, and my laptop is compatible with 4GB, according to HP. Clean installs of OS's, everything. It's the exact same RAM too, same clock speed, manufacturer, size, etc.

  • I see. well, i was really disappointed that my OS only uses 3061mb ram instead of 4gb. but my computer detects it as 4gb and my bios but on physical memory it only use 3061mb.

  • Same! I have 3070MB out of 4GB. Windows reports 4GB, and so does the BIOS, but Windows only uses 3070MB

  • just installed a 2 gig chip, thanks man

  • thanks a lot would you check my vid i have a problem

  • You rock!

  • thanks
