It's not the AR's fault, it's FIFA's fault. Sure, the AR made the bad call, but FIFA has to step up to the plate and involve technology w/ offside and goal-scoring situations. I don't think sensors would work because offside can take place at any point on a half of the field. I would think just have a group of officials viewing the play on a screen, w/ a camera always positioned w/ the 2nd-to-last defender.
I think the law shouldn't be changed because it does add a lot of strategy to the game.
They really have to do something about the offside rule. It is antiquated and I don't remember the last game i saw where the ARs didn't fuck up somehow.
To say that human error is part of the game is a cop out. If you ask players if they would prefer the status quo or a system that would eliminate games won and lost, not on the quality of the players but because of the officials, what do you think they would say??
The referee is doing "outside lefts", this is no longer allowed for referees on the panel and national list (those who referee conference premier and football league and premier league games). It is the referee's decision which sides his assistants will patrol because he has to adjust his diagonal running accordingly. Because of this, it is what the referee and not the assistants feel most comfortable with doing.

It is a bit unorthodox, but the Laws don't specify on which side ARs have to be on. Personally, I think they should not be on this side, and should signal all infractions with the right hand, and not left hand as in this video.
But maybe if both ARs are left-handed, it could be more "comfortable" if they are on their natural side. I don't know.
How the fuck is it a goal kick. A goal kick is when the ball goes out of play by the goal. It would be a normal free kick to the opposition you dumbass.

such a bad call!!

It's not offside, and even if he was in offside position, he wouldn't be interfering with play, and the AR should signal goal kick.

it is a goal kick because he didn't interfere with play or with an opponent. Check the Official Rules of Soccer, there is a diagram on page 111
