  • they should play this in geography classes

  • Who needs a Geography class when you have Dan Bull :)

  • Wish my earth science teacher played stuff like this ^^

  • Theirs one thing that can help are earth in a major way and don't get me wrong I'm a petrol head but I'm not dumb north America needs European cars if you look at mpg figures and co2 emissions in comparison to what we have here it's really quiet funny cars in Europe are getting 65+ mpg while some north American companies like ford or dodge even GM are still at 30-40 mpg mark in their city cars waste of gas really considering the technology we already have as a human race same with co2 emissions

  • A recent study has shown the sea level is actually decreasing... :/

  • hmm we as humans are afraid of whatwe cannot guess or understand fully this is why we are afraid of global warming yet back in the 70's it was global cooling..... this planet has a cycle represented best by the multiple ice ages that are evident through cores. Glaciers were formed yes they may rise water level a slight bit but they also carve the land beneath them. The great lakes which hold tons of water were formed by such glaciers

  • Why don't teachers show this stuff in school?

  • 1 poor lad was eroded by a glacier...

  • Of course, modern science is showing more and more that man is not causing glacier decay to be any more or less then what has happened hundred of times in the past.

  • @clukeyjr Then we better figure out how to reverse this "natural" process, because whether it is natural or man-made the end results are not going to be pleasant for anyone.

  • I'm confused. Some say that rising water level is coverment conspiracy. At the same time ppl say that it's actually rising cause of CO2 emmissions what actually helps plants to grow and produce oxygen. So what would actually be the truth? Do coverments really make you pay taxes for CO2 emmissions, cause they care about the Planet and want to save lives?

  • Even though I've been a fan of Dan for a long time, I've never even seen or heard about this one, awesome stuff!

  • Wahey geography exam tomorrow, best revision ever!

  • watching glaciers melt is really sad..it's like watching nature die :(

  • Earth will regain it's power and will re-grow everything from scratch as it always was. We can product pollution, kill animals and do other bad things but it's still kind of tolerance that nature allows us to do...till the moment of 'enough!'. It even makes me a bit happy, watching all this plastic shit around, lady reflux-gagas, waka wakas, pimps and models and money greed bastards - it went too far to fix it...it needs to be washed away but unfortunately we will be a part of this 'washed dirt'

  • @eredhelius I agree..the earth is too mighty to be destroyed by something as pathedic as "humans" It will wipe us off and move on with it's cycles...

  • truth is even if we affect glaciers and all that global marketing driven things, we actually WILL NOT affect the total balance of nature; humans are weaklings, another specie that in the end will extinct/will be vanished BY NATURE. It happened few times before and it will happen many times after. We're just a pain in a hole for the earth and once we cross the line of nature balance enough then mythical 'end of the world' will come true...difference is that it will be end of OUR WORLD...

  • Wow.Try working "glaciation" into a song.I DARE you.

  • Change is the emodiment of time, things will melt, and things will freeze. Cant stop it

  • I'm sure they found evidence that sea levels around Britain have actually decreased because of the weight of the ice from the ice age being lifted.

  • Its not actually the main contribution too sea level rise although I agree it is an important factor.

The main reason for sea level rise is the warmer climate due to global warming means that the particles in the water will be more active so become more spaced therefore the ocean level is higher.

  • @ most people in this thread - it's more to do with the simple fact that the colder something is the tighter its molecules are compacted together and visa versa. Water in its densest form (i.e. taking up the least space) is ice, wen it gets warmer it expands into water and when it evapourates it expands further stil into water vapour. hence any ice melting into water will take up more space. If Ice melts in a full glass the glass will overflow.

  • @robertgeorgewallace ice has a lot of air in generally, thats y it floats, so normal ice in a cup will generally not cause said cup 2 overflow

  • @robertgeorgewallace sorry mate check that out water acctually expands as it gets colder and turns to ice trust me it is one of the few compounds that does

  • wonderfully done! but I wonder if you could squeeze in the drama of how the polar fauna has to suffer every time the glaciers retreat, and winters get shorter... I know it's less dramatic then the possibility of London being submerged... but still xP

  • There is a climate change. The Earth is entering a new ice age. Happens every 200K, check it on wikipedia. Pollution has to be stopped, but please, understand, Global Warming is bullcrap, UN is trying to become national government again.

  • @warrat300

The planet warms and cools, True, the SPEED of how its warming however has increased due to extra carbon being emited into the atmosphere (along with other pollutants.), What does that mean? Evolution takes time, the sped up warming means most of plant and animal lifes evolution will not adapt fast enough, this means no food for us & ultimatly no us.

Remember when smoking didn't kill 'cause tobacco scientists said so? Now its Oil & Gas Scientists disputing, save a buck & save us.

  • @aoghghsfh warrat300 is right.Global warming is basically a scam to scare people in to giving more power to people offering to "save" you. In reality, they are looking to take that power and grow into a world government. Next step for them is to change the focus to overpopulation. They'll claim the there are too many people and start pushing way to reduce the population, like abortion. As prove of this, look at the environmentalist's newest commercial "1010 No Pressure".

  • they dont really raise the sea level. imagine a cup of water filled to the brim with water and ice, when the ice melts the water still remains in the glass. the sea is the same way.

  • @RiotQuietly Glaciers are on land though - they are different to icebergs which are already in the sea.

  • @douglby Add to this the big problem with water that expands when the water temperature rises. A couple of degrees in temperature diffrence migt only result in a 0.01-0.02% volume change, but the seas are very large so an expansion of 0.02% will be very significant. Scientist forsee that the se level rise due to thermal expansion will be greater than the rise due to melting glaciers and the like.

  • @douglby

Although the real danger is the release of fresh water into the ocean rather than the raising of sea levels.

  • @douglby Well then we can just sort it out by putting some water in a glacier sized bucket and leave it on the land where they used to be (Y)

My genius surprises me sometimes :')

  • @RiotQuietly yes this is true but what about the ice that isn't in the water and that is actually frozen above the current sea level?????? What will happen when it melts will it still miraculously float above sea level???? Sorry for the sarcasm but you really didn't think about what you wrote before you posted that comment

  • @RiotQuietly Water expands when heated, that is the main cause of rising sea levels.

  • @RiotQuietly Exactly, even if all the ice melted and there was more water, that would mean more evaporation, meaning more cloud.

More cloud + Colder temperatures = Freezing again.

  • @RiotQuietly you missed two thimgs buddy

  • @RiotQuietly you missed two thimgs buddy glacier are highger then the sea by hundreds of feet and a lot of them are over land.

  • @RiotQuietly As douglby wrote, most glacier ice is on land and is not currently displacing a significant amount of sea water. Melting of the world's glaciers and ice sheets ARE adding to and WILL continue to add to sea level rise. Warming sea water also contibutes to sea level rise. Amazingly the warmer water expands in volume enough to cause rise we can measure. Conservative estimates project a 0.5 to 1 meter rise by they year 2100.

  • @RiotQuietly That's what Ive said!!!! Im so glad that Im not the only one who has thought of that comparison before!! Cheers

  • @RiotQuietly that only happens because of evaporation and condensation.

  • Im confused on something. they say as the glaciers melt the water level rises right? well doesn't ice take up more space than plain water? if it all melted you would think the water would actually go down. Anyone care to comment? I'm not saying their wrong im just asking an explanation on their facts...

  • @UchihaSumairu Hi, this is because glaciers move over land so they aren't in the sea. When they melt, they'll usually drain into the sea and contribute to rising sea levels. Dan

  • @douglby it's more to do with the simple fact that the colder something is the tighter its molecules are compacted together and visa versa. Water in its densest form (i.e. taking up the least space) is ice, wen it gets warmer it expands into water and when it evapourates it expands further stil into water vapour. hence any ice melting into water will take up more space. If Ice melts in a full glass the glass will overflow.

  • @douglby Oh gotcha. thanks :D that makes a lot more sense lol

  • @UchihaSumairu Try taking a glass of water, and drop ice into it until you got tiny iceberg, now you got "Antarctica", when the ice (which is now above the glass) smelts, the water raise to a level which is above top of your glass. Thats why.

You would be right if all of the ice was flowing IN the water, but its stacked on top.

BTW: nice to see youtubers, who arent just hating on other peoples arguments (+Rep or what ever)

  • You said that sometimes you are challenged to bring a boring topic to life. Did someone ask you to create this song for them or did you do it out of self interest? Absolutely brilliant however it happened, though.

  • @hapkidoman1 I actually can't remember why the hell I made this... I had fun doing it though and taught myself about the topic as I went along by researching the info and the footage from various sources

  • I like your random songs like this and Diver's Daydream a lot more than your album, Dan. You should consider keeping choruses out of your next album, man; I felt those really brought the listen-ability of the album as a whole down a lot.

Just some constructive criticism. I just found you a few days ago, but I already feel you are one of the most talented lyricists out there. Stay smart, keep doing your thing! :3

  • .......It's not even remotely imaginable that someone could actually make great songsabout the history of trains and glaciers. But somehow you did it Dan, congradulations. :)

  • this is fuckin awsome......from bromsgrove too...the wild west midlands....

  • @DARKnDODGY West mids ftw :)

  • yh you definitely need alot more views these are amazing :D

  • absolutely amazing yet again!

    i HOPE somebody notices u 1 day

  • Really great - love it. And educational :)

Looking forward to the new album mate.

  • Dude everything you produce is brilliant, you have GOT to provide an MP3.

  • @Pokizard thanks :) the mp3 is up now, check the link in the video description

  • Thank you so much!

  • Great stuff Dan i really hope your music will inspire people to act !

  • Great work Dan! You're erudite rhyming and subject matter continually enlightens and rewards.

  • I'm a cool kid!

  • awesome dan awesome!

  • This is groovy.

  • fuck yes about time for a new song

  • AMaaaazin!

  • Cool.

  • good work Dan
