  • I've tried 9 packets of this brand of yeast and all failed. This stuff isn't cheap.

  • Do you have to take the 1/4 cup of warm water out of the recipe then ? let's say a recipe calls for 1 cup of water, do i use just 3/4 of a cup ?

  • Thank you for the information!! This is my second time making a whole wheat loaf of bread and my dough doesn't rise 1 inch over the pan. I did everything as listed and I believe it's because I didn't proof my yeast before putting it in with the rest of the ingredients.

Hopefully this was my problem! :)

  • Simple, easy, strightforward. Thanks

  • So you just proof it and then dump it in after it rises/bubbles? Or can you dump the dry yeast directly? I did the latter making bread once, and it worked okay...and yes, this was the Active Dry Yeast.

  • I've tried to use yeast several times for recipes but it never does anything, the yeast/sugar/water mix never foams. I even have the same brand of yeast, and an identical thermometer, to those used in this video. I am off to google "yeast not doing anything"...

hi i've add similar frustration, I've read that aluminum can have an effect of the yeast. Also, temperature is a key factor as well ( water, room temp. etc) check the date of your yeast and where you store it. good luck
