everyone commenting saying he fouled is retarded...it was a warm up throw it doesnt matter if he fouled the point of the video is to show that he threw it really fucking far
@juice41290 lol barely any grown men can throw that far PERIOD, it takes special explosive strength that must be trained for years to develop that kind of power
I'm sorry man but Barnes did test positive and was banned for two years. He claimed the tests were "flawed", but what athlete doesn't make those same kind of claims.
Like i've posted on previous Barnes videos, If you spin and don't scratch everyone once in a while your doing it wrong. I mean shit, randy barnes holds the world record for farthest throw. And he kept that one is. So it doesnt matter how many times he scratches as long as he keeps on in.
you are missing the point , it is not that he fouled, it is that it was such an effortless throw, and it just went way past what anyone could do with or without a foul.....just amazing to see
it's a warm up retards. and all olympic shot putters don't run under 10.5 at 275 lbs. adam nelson isn't even 275 lbs. I'm sure they are all very fast though because of how explosive and strong they are
first of all, dont call me dumb because im not. second of all, i understand that if you foul, it will go farther i was just saying that it was impressive for a freshman.
This is a great example of what he was capable of before chasing strength goals. That's the temptation of juice calling...I think he was so strong that it hurt him in a way. Superior strength allowed him to throw 70feet with inferior technique in competition.
Yea it was a super foul, but not a bad throw for a college freshmen. But far as fouls are concerned Brian Oldfield fouled an 85 footer. That's the furthest foul I know of. Randy Barnes has also fouled a 79 footer. So again 76 isn't that impressive when compared to these other fouls but as a freshmen the guy was unbeatable and one of the best in the world at such a young age. Although his improvement of 8 feet despite a heavier implement from high school to college is strange. Steroids?
"not a bad throw for a college freshman" just reread what you wrote..."Brian oldfield practice threw 85, Randy Barnes practice threw 79... 76 isnt all that impressive" So basically what you are telling me is that the world record sucks LOL. idiot.
You clearly misunderstood, I'm saying he super fouled it. There's a hand full of throwers even today that can foul throws over 76 feet like that. It's further than the world record but that's because he used more room than a circle allows. It's why his best legal throw even years later was short of that at 75'10. I was also comparing that foul to other much larger fouls. Brian Oldfield fouled a throw 9 feet further, it makes 76 seem like crap. So basically, just learn to read before you reply.
"learn to read" ... All I was doing was commenting on your comments and you come back with a statement like that. I bet you were all red in the face typing that too. Have a nice day.
I disagree, Brian Oldfield threw an 85ft foul once. Compared to that this foul is pathetic. Also later on in life Randy Barnes threw a 79ft foul. At this level 3 ft and 9ft increases over something are huge differences over this 76ft foul. I bet Christian Cantwell right now could foul over 77ft, but shot put is about staying in the ring. Also Randy flew out of the ring, he wasn't even close to staying in. What's more impressive is his 72ft legal throw the next year as a sophomore...steroids?
Dude, does everyone who is good at a sport really have to be on steroids? Seriously? I do discus, but even if this is a foul, c'mon, takes practice and working out, dont confuse steroids with talent!
ya, he had great form and trained like a mother, but i think steroids might of got him over that 75 mark. Im not saying he wouldnt have ben great without 'roids.
Thats why he's attempt was so long - he stepped out! It means that he had more momentum than in normal attempt. Circuit is 213,5 cm, so use your run up inside it! I also had good attempts when I had longer run up and stepped out of the circuit! It seems Randy needed half of meter more in this attempt!
75`10 was his best throw on an official meet and was recorded. on this video he got 76 feet but lets not forget that he didnt only step out with his right leg (since his lefty) but with both legs. he flue over the toe board. which is mad illegal. but otherwise the best ever. 8)
it was only a warm up throw...it dosn't really matter that he stepped out...super sick! if thats a warm up throw imagine what a competition throw was...WOW!
16lb shot...that was a 16 lb shot that just sailed right out of the pit at a huge major competition....amazing , the last line was 70 feet and the grass was 75 , so you figure out the distance from that!!!
no he threw the high school over 100 and had the 16 go over 85 feet while he was warming up and he did have the world record but it was unofficial beacuse he was not an amateur he threw 75 somethin
it doesnt matter if he wasnt amateur. if he threw 85 feet then he would at least be able to come close to that, I understand that sometimes you get a big wind and an awesome throw but if you are throwing 85 feet then if he went to competition he would be able to get at least 80. 4-5 feet higher than current record. by the way, since you dont use periods, I dont understand the second part of your post.
BO talked about a pre-destined 80, but never about ever getting it. And he would talk about it, even if only a practice mark. Can't anything away from him: His "official but not amateur" 75, when guys dreamed of 70, is still only topped by RB's 75'10". Brian at the time was lanky for a SPer. I believe he -still- has the 'natural' world record.
BO wasnt natural though, at least i dont think he is.... some friends of mine went to a throwing camp he puts on, and he was all crippled up in a wheelchair
"Recent" photos show a bulked-up who BO likely "used", but intially he was skinny,(for a shot-putter). I believe his record was natural, and the attempt to surpass it was not.
I remember seeing in a video documentary/training video put out by BO that he has two compressed disks in his back so I see why he'd be in a wheel chair.
from the last line to the grass is deffinately not 5ft, its more like 2 - 3ft

Timmermann was never caught, now was he? No ones knows, but it is suspected, even though all of his 13901324810238120 tests came up negative.
Ulf Timmermann was also the most competative and probably the greatest thrower of all time. No one can be compared to his speed and skill.
