Wow this takes me back to September of 1982 when I played with the Woodrow Wilson High School Concert Band in Portsmouth Virginia for the "Music Festival" that year! This is a beautiful piece. I am sure all who were skilled enough to play it ROCKED THE HOUSE! I know we certainly did!!!

We played this one year in concert band and our director then arranged it for marching band the next fall. It was awesome in marching band!

Andress High School (John Bailey directing) was Burges' biggest rival during this era. I think our version was better (smiles). Now if I can get a copy and post it....

it sounded good but around i think measure  20 the tubas sound a little sloppy but other than that good job:)

I never thought I'd be able to hear this again since 1973 when Marfa High played this at Concert Contest in Odessa. We were just barely a 2-A school and this arrangement was meant to be played by much larger bands but we managed and got a 2nd Division UIL rating. Thanks for posting this--you have great shots of El Paso too! I miss West Texas.
