I don't smoke, but I would support the legalization of marijuana. The primary problem is, there's never been an official appealing towards the supreme court for legalization. Also, the government isn't very interested in legalizing marijuana, they get enough money from taxing tobacco and alcohol. However, if marijuana was legal, the government should step in to provide regulations that are similar to tobacco. Regardless of its benefits, you're still inhaling ashes, keep in mind.
I don't think this is all that deplorable, but it is pretty unnecessary. There's no real need for kids to even know about pot at a young age. I don't think this book is addresses an issue that needs addressing, basically. So in this case, I'm mostly with Bill. His outrage is an over-reaction, though, as usual.

The government tells people(including children) that marijuana has no medical use, which is simply not true. Parents don't have to give the book to their children but I think it's potentially good that the book is there for those parents who want their children to get the information contained within.
I don't really think the medical marijuana argument is practical - I think Bill is right when he says it's a ruse. Where he's wrong is in his outrage of this drug as if it is in any way comparable to any other hard drugs - you can't even compare it to the millions of lives taken by alcohol and cigarettes - so it's illegality is unjust completely. I'm not outraged by this book, of course, I just think it's pointless. Kids are no better or worse off with or without this info.

My dad smoked pot, and I never knew until I was 18, but he also taught me not to do it, because it's not for gown ups. @greenberet069 The 8 year old in the book is not only being education on marijuana, but she's only heard the upsides in that part of the story. I went online to read some of it and it's quite a well-rounded book.Weed isn't addictive. No one has ever died directly from pot. Don't children need to be educated about alchohol? Yes. They should be aware of what goes on in the world, not to mention what could be going on in their own homes, whether that be pot, drinking, crack, LSD, or what ever else.
