I remember cereal box records now, I had forgotten about them. They never played right for me though. I preferred 3-D baseball cards myself. I only ever ate the kind of cereal that had the toy in it I wanted.
Wasn't it Sugar Crisp? Those were the days when you could free music from cereal boxes! I also remember getting a Frito Bandito eraser from Fritos. Good junk back then!!
@joeyrocks2207 I had one of those erasers. As for as the records I remember seeing them and if I remember right I remember somebody playing them but I personally never had a record player.
@joeyrocks2207 LOL!!! you're so right!! of COURSE my Frito Bandito eraser got chewed up and swallowed by our MUT DOG and my parents wouldn't get me another one "what, so the GD dog and swallow another one and we have to spend ANOTHER $25 at the vet's office? there's no way in hell".... were my Dad's exact words....damn crazy old geezer
@781Florist It was Bang Shang -a lang..Sugar Sugar was not on Super Sugar Crisp...We made many adult parodies on Bang Shang a lang over 40 years LOL..
As I listen to this as an adult I recognize how well done this track is. The most polarizing facts surrounding this tune is about image. This tune came out in the same era as "Purple Haze" so in fact there was a war of alliance between pop culture and in this case for or with a cartoon and hard core rockers dropping acid.
Super Sugar Crisp is correct...This wasn't the only song to come out like that..I remember that I had a Bobbie Sherman record as well...Julie, Julie, Julie do you love me, Julie, Julie, Julie do you care? Julie, Julie are you thinking of me? Julie Julie will you still be there...Maybe that was from Honeycombs...
Can you imagine a kid doing that today. NO WAY! They cant do or go anywhere without their electronic gagets. Somehow we've lost the simpleness of things.
We HAD to buy "Super Sugar Crisp" cereal to cut out the cardboard free record on the back of the box. The song was like #1 all over the world that summer and the astronauts were landing on the room & they were GIVING away the song for free on the cereal box. If I only knew where I put my 5 copies....lol
@sirjohncool HI! I did almost the same thing, I didn't know it was on a cereal box, though. Do you remember which cereal? Anyway, I was crazy for this song - at 8 years old, and my mother bought the 45 for me. When we got home I played it over and over and over again, singing along in the kitchen.
@sirjohncool Can you just imagine the look on your kids face if you told them you cut off the back of a cereal box and played it on the record player????? Kids don't know what they missed out on lol.. Saturday morning was just not Saturday morning without The Archies!..ahhhh tthose days ...☮♥ ☺ ♪♫
@sirjohncool You got that right as I was bought up watching this on Saturday mornings as well and to echo what you've said Saturday mornings would've been Saturday mornings without these and other cartoons to spur us kids on at the time! KUDOS to whomever posted this tune, MAN does this bring back memories and I s'ppose we're telling our age a bit huh? Lol!
@thortun15 It was pressed into the paper of the cereal box. You cut the back of the box out that had the record pressed into it. So you had a square record made our of paper with plastic/celluloid adheard to one side, that made the record.
omg i was two years old when this song came out lol but ya i remember sat morning cartoons and the archies were a part with the roadrunner show beep beep everyone lol and jughead had to be a stoner he was always in munchie mode lol
