  • what's the name of the first song? :)

  • The early Christians from the Middle East (Jordan, Syria, Egypt., Iraq, Turkey and Iran). Upon arrival of Islam, these Christians were respected. They had freely chosen. Some remained Christians and others became Muslims. There is no differance between a Christian and a Muslim. There are mixed couples where children come to pray at the mosque and church.

  • @200ahlam11

That was not the reality. The truth is that there were enough Christian power of the Roman empire; the tribes of Taghleb and the maradites of Lebanon that the balance of power was kept.

  • @200ahlam11 There is no difference between a Cristian and a muslim?

Thats not what muhammed reported back to earth is it......

  • Justin II the nephew of Justinian named his only daughter "Arabia" in honor of their friendship with Al-Harith ibn Jabalah who was made the Godfather of the princess.

  • great video.i'm a proud genuine Ghassanid :)

  • are you kidding me when ur calling the Syriac Christians for Arabs? Syriac christians are Arameans! Arabs are the gypsys of the middle east, what have you accomplished, Nothing, you have only ruined the middle east with stupid wars and given the middle east a crap reputation, since the arabs took control middle east has only went backwards in time.. Just look what the real people of the middle east accomplished before you got there, the Great Arameans/Babylonians/Chaldeans empire, Ishtar gate,

  • @bloodcheif

Well, you would be surprised to know that Christianity and Judaism were wide spread and prosperous at the Arab peninsula (and after the rise of Islam they were exterminated ). The video speaks about the Ghassanids who were one of the many Christian tribes.

  • great video my friend, beautifull music!!!

  • Inn Jordan, some tribes and families are descendants of the Ghassanids. These tribes are the Suheimat, Dmour, Adaileh, Imbaydeen, Bawaleez, Karakieen, Soub. These families are now known as the Ghassasinah, they live in Karak. They have formed a single tribe called the "Al-Ghassasinah" which is considered the largest tribe in the city of Karak .

  • @christian000ish are they christian or muslim?

  • islam=evil

  • Im proud Ghassanid =) some Lakhmid and Aksumite too

  • Most of the Orthodox Christians in Lebanon,Syria,Jordan and Palestine are from Ghassanid lineage. There is also many Muslims as well since a good amount of the Ghassanids became Muslim and aided their Arab brothers in the conquest of Byzantium. Also the Banu Lakhm was a related Arab Christian tribe that had roots from Yemen as well. The Lakhmids were ruled by the Sassanids and were mistreated,so when the Muslims attacked Persia, the Lakhmids joined them to take revenge against the Sassanids!

The Ghassanids are one of three sources (Greco-Roman & Aramaic) to the lineage of the Christian Arabs. They were city builders and defenders of Christian faith and empire. It's true that some of them have been treacherous to their king and Emperor.

The Ghassanides who refused to be dhimmis have immigrated to Anatolia. Emperor Nicephorus - a decendant of Jabala the last ghassanid king - have liberated Crete and conquered Aleppo from moslem Hamdanids (formerly Christian taghlibs)

  • Actually during the battle of Yurmuk, many Ghassanids joined the Arab Muslims.Jabalah himself even joined them at one point and went on Umrah to Mecca but there was an incident that happened and he reverted back to his Christian faith. There are also other battles that involved Ghassanids defecting but I will have to go back and recheck.Thank you for this video, not many people give attention to the pre-Islamic Arabs who were Christian.

According to " Khalil ʿAthamina ;" The Appointment and Dismissal of Khālid b. al-Walīd from the Supreme Command: A Study of the Politic... more"; Arabica, T. 41, Fasc. 2 (Jul., 1994), pp. 253-272

The Ghassanids have begun to disintegrate after the Roman Persian war and many of their allies such as the "Kalb" tribe had made a pact with the moslems.

The Ghassanids themselves have never answered the moslem's appeal neither before the battle of Yarmuk nor after it.

  • "...In their pact with the Muslims, the Kalbites undertook, among other things, two commitments toward the Muslims: to care for their interests, and to keep loyal to the pact-al-nush wa-'1-wafd .57 According to testimony from the period, these two obligations were fulfilled on behalf of the Kalbites at least by al-Asbagh and those tribesmen who were under his authority.

  • Anyway; The battle of Yarmuk meant only the end of the Ghassanids as a political entity but their culture would remain (at least for a while). They were mentioned at the GREEK ORTHODOX OF ANTIOCH CHRONICLE: ΗΧΑΡΙΣ / AL-NE'EMA which was published at 1910

How many languages do you speak? Is Arabic among them? In case it is, I strongly recommend you read a book called Lthal Identities (Huyat Qatilah) by Amin Maloof. It's one of the most impressive Arabic books I've ever read. I think you'll find it interesting too.

  • Fascinating historical/cultural details. Makes one think that in some ways it was a golden age of open-minded cultural exchange.

  • Where are those now?

    Who represent them now?
