your question piqued my interest, as "schwarzfahren", the verb for riding without a ticket is a common colloquiism in german, but ive never really thought about it so i looked it up.

apparently it doesnt mean schwarz as in german for black, it originates from the yiddish word swarz or shvarts which is phonetically identical and means poverty. so it's a "poor mans ride" - i never knew!
