  • carlton got rip

  • i have asked 2 personal trainers, 1 girl and 1 guy, they both told me to go to shoulder height, that means, all the way down of course. there's no point in doing with like he's doing it.

  • What are your questions?

  • What happens if you bring the dumbbells lower than your shoulders? Anybody know?

  • @MultiWingnut Lowering them that far is going beyond the shoulder muscles effective operational range, from then on you would be incorporating other muscles into the exercise just to get the weight back up. You may even cause yourself a shoulder injury

  • @newyears912 What other muscles would be used when going below parallel? I can't think of any other muscle that performs the function of raising the arms from 0 degrees to 180 degrees.

  • @MultiWingnut hmm im no expert i just assumed that smaller less used muscles in the shoulder would be activated. I guess the main point i was trying to make is if you were just trying to get a good shoulder workout you shouldn't have to go below parallel.

Maybe ask a fitness expert tho before trying it... haha XD

  • Standing version is superior to seated. It is more challenging because of the balance issue so you can handle less weight. Also it activates your core and keeps you from cheating by slumping in the chair.

  • you can really feel your muscles by doing this exercise in his way. And it needs small weight :P

  • should i do it slowly??

  • and when do i take the steroids

  • @dorigzz When your weak little mind gives up.

  • good

  • good

  • how much weight is that

  • Your all wrong.. slow and controlled reps works and define the muscles A LOT more than using the momentum while trying do do fast reps.. and hes right you want to keep it at a 90 degree angle when you bring it down.. don't lock out w any exercise .. and one more thing .. keep the core and glutes engaged in ever exercise with the knees slightly bent.. your core is what makes you stable FYI.. so always keep it engaged(flexed) while you work out and even when your not.. NASM

  • how come he does it so slow? is this because he is tryin to explain how to do it or he just worksout that way?

  • Is this also called the "standing military press?" Thanks.

  • If you wanna increase your height " Helpo Growth Formula "

Just google it. Worked for me....

  • He has a structure of a.. Candy user.

  • lol dudes so calm all the time

  • Mexican

  • @mezigpo shut up white boy

  • @mezigpo dumbass, skinny white boy

  • How is this different from the shoulder press workout he showed. Should I be doing this and the dumbell shoulder press or are they both more or less the same workout?

  • whats wrong with having ur elbows fall to far pass ur shoulders? i see lots of bodybuilders bringing their elbows all the way down to their lats especially with the barbell millitary press. even on ur front barbell shoulder press video ur elbows are going pass ur shoulders.

  • thanks a lot for these, you seem like a cool guy

  • hes demonstrating with low weight and he doesnt have any trouble with it, its hard to lift weights and talk at the same time no matter what weight if you didnt notice.

  • @btchplzholla obviously anything where you need the breathing muscle will suppress your ability to talk and breath.

  • @btchplzholla IT S NOT QUANTITY, IT IS QUALITY

  • he looks like carlton from fresh prince

  • he does LOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • @THEYAYAREALIVING it is Carlton! ;)

  • @THEYAYAREALIVING your right.

  • also can't really see but are the dumbbells directly over the shoulders or are they slightly forward? tried it directly above an it put more pressure on my neck and more strain on the shoulders.....still confused lol, any help would be appreciated

  • pain is gain.

Try using less weights if yuo can do around 10-12 reps proper easy like then i would add a few more kg.

  • does this form also work the obliques, costals and abs? quite confused cos i was readin stuart mcroberts book on weight training technique and the pictures show the elbows falling below shoulder height.....quite confused cos i'd much prefer to work most of the upper body as well as the shoulders usin this exercise

  • this is a very under-rated exercise imo..superb for developing the shoulders.

  • I've started to only use these videos as examples for proper form. All consistent and the same guy.
