There are few mentions of Israelites at all, and the earliest tells of them in Canaan, not Egypt. THere are historical events that historians think may have been at the basis of the Exodus story, such as the Hyksos reign, etc. Perhaps the Habiru were the origin of the word Hebrew, etc.

and i think other stations have aired this. using researchers archaelogist experts there giving there testimony on how they have unpacked the findings etc. some of the findings have always been around as wll and have been wrongly assessed in the beginin. you can check the evidence for the xodous on line mate and make what you want of it fom thee. i could only tell you what i know.

@thicky I come from a family of Moroccan Jews. Moroccan Jews dont look much different than European Jews. Jews fled to North Africa when Rome destroyed Judea. North African Jews are not black. Not even close. When Judea fell to Rome, the vast majority of Jews fled to the rest of the middle east and North Africa. Many were taken to Europe as slaves, and many more moved there in later centuries. Jewish history is complicated. But the vasy majority of Jews are caucasian/middle eastern

@chained2it it seems your history of the jews is based on the traditional view and not from torah based prophetc standpoint. for this reason there will always be a reason to think that the ancient israelites did not venture beyond the rivrs of ethiopia. and even into west africa wher they were taken captives by arabs etc. a history on jews in west africa is strongly suggested. so as to get a better perspective on the movements of such a people. we can all boast about euro history.

You have that backwards. The Torah version is the "traditional" version, taught for thousands of years. But again, the BIble is a religious book, not an objective accounting of facts. There are Jewish tombs and catcombs in Rome with paintings that depict Jews with no different skin color than Romans. European Jews originate in the hundreds of thousands of Jewish slaves taken from Judea in the first century AD, as recorded by Roman historians and depicted in the Arhc of Titus which still stands in Rome

@chained2it there are biblical accounts that suggest they were dark skinned and secular sources. as for the ones that went into europe it would seem obvious they take on the appearance of the captors afetr years of being slaves. just like many on the west have lost their dark coloring to the captors that enslaved them there. i know of these images you speak of but there are also images from the assyrian period that predate these in the british museum showing quite blak looking people.

No, there are not. There are some very silly, ill-informed interpretations that claim such, but they are easliy refuted with the facts. And neither is the Bible ito be considered definitive history. Jews are a middle eastern people. They looked in origin just like the rest of the Levant region of the middle east, like Syrians, Palestinians, etc. That is not a black region and has never been in recorded historical times.

Not so dramatically, of course not. Blacks were enslaved for 400 years in the Americas, and many black women were raped and impregnated by white men. But African Americans still look clealry African. Jews in Europe have certainly got a bit lighter skinned after 2000 years in a northern climate, intermarrying with converts ,suffering rapes, etc. But not by much. That is clearly shown genetically

@thicky Its not just a matter of appearance. Its genetic. THe vast majority of Jews have no black genetic heritage. And most natice middle eastern people are genetically from the same stock as southern Europeans. They are genetically related, from the same haplotypes. Greeks, Arabs. Italians, etc. are all in similar genetic groupings, quite distinct from black Africans.
The Assyrian images you speak of are stone reliefs with no coloring whatsoever. You cannot determine skin color from them

@chained2it funny enough this same stuff you mentioned about haplotypes, shows commonality with some dark skinned african types as those in southern europe as well. bear in mind not all dark folks look alike, you can find the same genes throughout the mediteranean world if one did the research on it. as i said there is enough biblical material to assert the israelites were a pretty dark group.

Written records from the times, from more than 1 source, that agree with each other, arechaelogical ruins, etc. History is not story telling. No one in Africa or Asia teaches anything differently. The Dura-Europos synagogue is the oldest synagogue ever found, dating back to the 3rd centry AD in Syria, not far from Palestine and not long after the Biblical period. It is convered with murals depicitng Blbilcal scenes, and the people look typically mediterranean/middle eastern
