Saw him at least twice but I was pissed, so can't quite remember how many times. But he was great, some of the best concerts I can remember. An influence on my life as well as many others, I am sure.

@BA5966 i got to see him after one of his famous halloween shows at the palladium in NYC, back in '77, it was insane, people dressed as zomby wolves, camarillo brillo hair, frank had about 20 people in his band, 2 complete drummers, plus percussionists, horn players. plus frank smoking on that guitar, killer show, i was 16 and still remember it, frank was phenominal!!!

This song has a uniqe mark on my heart man! the very first time i heard this song i was stepping out of my aparment in the morning actually being a zombie woof, painless, it was bizarre - i was empty and evil and i turned on my mp3-player, i had just fished up some zappa songs at a friends, then all of a sudden zombie woof starts.. It was like frank zappa was waving at me from the dead, this song just attacked me from nowhere, from the ether it was like a joke.. it saved my mind right there..

@ARIZJOE almost true--really, the problem isn't a lack of artists, but the fact that today's music industry doesn't have the space for something that isn't guaranteed to turn over millions of records. frank's success and renown was unlikely, but he came in at just the right place and time to make it. if you want to find today's real musical artists, look to universities and their composition students and faculty. that's where the zappa-esque talent (rare as it is) lies in the modern day.
