had the honor, of playing music with him. and the man was something you will never find again in your life time. and to call him mentally handicapped, or troll. just show's how stupid you are.
Saw him at least twice but I was pissed, so can't quite remember how many times. But he was great, some of the best concerts I can remember. An influence on my life as well as many others, I am sure.
@BA5966 i got to see him after one of his famous halloween shows at the palladium in NYC, back in '77, it was insane, people dressed as zomby wolves, camarillo brillo hair, frank had about 20 people in his band, 2 complete drummers, plus percussionists, horn players. plus frank smoking on that guitar, killer show, i was 16 and still remember it, frank was phenominal!!!
man i miss frank and sitting here listening to this and thinking why didnt i go and see him live more times than i did, i wish i had just followed his tours everywhere.....RIP Master
my brother bought tickets for us to see zappa on my 16th b-day,best present i ever got.these were the original mothers of invention-george duke, jon luc ponty, ruth and ian underwood and the rest,1974 wow.
This song has a uniqe mark on my heart man! the very first time i heard this song i was stepping out of my aparment in the morning actually being a zombie woof, painless, it was bizarre - i was empty and evil and i turned on my mp3-player, i had just fished up some zappa songs at a friends, then all of a sudden zombie woof starts.. It was like frank zappa was waving at me from the dead, this song just attacked me from nowhere, from the ether it was like a joke.. it saved my mind right there..
Mr. Zappa, if you're watching us from the AfterLife, I hope you know that being buried without having your grave marked did not stop your legacy from being carried on. You are remembered in the music world in every sense of the word
templeton, very apt description. To me, it sounds like the heart of a flaming banshee riding a horse of mercury and piss, hurling fiery rocks at your God fearing, white collar neighbours, their kids and any pets they might possess.
The younger generation cannot write songs like this, nor produce them in the studio. There are several who posture themselves as great artists, but they don't come close to a guy like Frank.
@ARIZJOE almost true--really, the problem isn't a lack of artists, but the fact that today's music industry doesn't have the space for something that isn't guaranteed to turn over millions of records. frank's success and renown was unlikely, but he came in at just the right place and time to make it. if you want to find today's real musical artists, look to universities and their composition students and faculty. that's where the zappa-esque talent (rare as it is) lies in the modern day.
THE IKETTES= TINA TURNER,AND TWO OTHERS? worked for 4 hours .dont know if they were on the rest of the album, probably. They were paid $187.00 going rate at the time,i guess.
@MoffeAnimal Tina and the ikettes sings background vocals in this and apostrophe albums.Tina was so impressed with zappas music, she called in her boyfriend,Ike Turner, the wife beater! and he asked "whats this shit"? what an asshole.
