i just got my boats this year and was trying to look for white bass on the minnesota river ... been trying but cant fine it ... so can you help me out
when the white bass are running in the spring, they are second to none in excitement. I like the curly tail grubs, but I have more success on small white or silver crank baits with a small split shot about a foot above the bait. You can make the crankbait do pretty nasty movements with small quick jerks and sudden stops and starts. No fish can resist that.
wow what an awesome video! i would love to fish that river. i could be wrong but we don't have white bass in washington, at least i've never caught them or heard of anyone catching them. what size mister twister / jig head are you using?
A lot of people here in Minnesota call white bass stripers but they are not. A white bass looks more like a crappie than a bass. Stripers get much bigger and are found mostly in bigger southern rivers. I caught my first striper this last spring in the Potomac River near DC...check out that video.
Looks like the MN River Valley area near Belle Plaine. Could be wrong. But there are tons of White Bass on the stretch of river. If you can boat it find nearby streams and covers where bait fish are and you'll find the fish easily 24/7 all year long.
how deep are you fishing here? Most places off the Minnesota were about 2-4 feet only. Were you fishing on the Minnesota or backwaters?

@giorgio99 It was only a couple feet deep above a drop off in the river. That spot has all changed now.

Do you eat any of them? I would have had my limit and been on the way to fry fish in no time there.

Nice video. I'm ready for spring. I don't know about you but I think i spent too much on fishing lures this winter. It's called "fishing binging."
