  • what size? somewhere around an L -58? has the table top controls I see......the " speedomatic" as linkbelt called em.

  • Nice old Dragline.

  • lol big muskies little little little little little little brother? :P

  • Why mud though? And why the bucket with the holes (dont know the term)? I assume there was no way around it, I also assume another machine was not readily available. Looks like fun, but unless they are digging a pond out, why not a JD Backhoe/ loader?

  • The holes in the bucket let water out when working in ponds and soupy areas so that you get as much dirt in the dumpbed as posable and less water.

  • It looks like they are digging out a pond. If you will notice he is swinging 180 deg. a backhoe loader cannot do that. The biggest jd backhoe is a 710, this dragline has much more reach. A dragline has a much longer reach than even an excavator of the same size. A long reach excavator has much smaller bucket capacity.

  • It could be that the contractor was the low bidder and he's using the equipment that he has. Renting a machine is not a cost effective way to go if you already have a machine capable of doing the work.

  • That's some of the best dragline operation I've seen in a long time. I see the operator looks older of course!
