@SuredT omg r u really a pilot? Pls giv me some tips on what I can do to b one. I'm in 10th grade rite now bt my dream is to fly..pls can u tell me what I can start doing to achieve my goal frm now on?
Nice Landing....BTW your a Pilot on a B74 hauling to St. Maarten, I wouldnt even justify answering people who question your landing. This isnt Flight Simulator
Follow up to my last comment. It appears the stall speed of a 747 with full flaps and gear down is 115 kts. So technically it's possible, but risky...
@Lekoman Hey dipshit. No one here said that as FSX simulation pilots we are more qualified than those who fly the real airplane. So why don't you go home and play with your little sister scumbag. As for those of us who use FSX, let us do what we do, some of us do not have the money to obtain the extensive and expansive training for such a career. Even if you are a real pilot, which I doubt, I think I speak for everyone here when I tell you to shut your fucking mouth because no one cares.
Great explanation - thanks for writing such a detailed intro.
Why, though, is it ok for a pilot to use a video camera sitting right on top of all the electronic instruments at the most critical point in the flight, when all passengers need to turn off all of their electronic devices?
Do pilots leave their mobile phones on?
If it really were necessary for safety that mobile phones be turned off then allow me to let pilots in on something - most people leave their phones on.
@bungeecork I'm not sure about airliners but electronic devices do absolutely nothing to F-18s. I know quite a few people in my squadron that record their launches and traps (although technically it's against the rules).
Rediculous that a (the) pilot has to explain himself to some know-it-all flightsimmers. Regardless, I'm real glad he did - there's some great info from that explanation.
One thing I'd like to know. There was a KLM 747 that almost touched the fence with his mlg. Was the pilot in trouble after that? Was there a reason?
@pike98765432 lol.. really?.. how about vacation? how about students in france and holland who are coming back home for some reason... how about it's an INTERNATIONAL airport :)
@hadabenz There is no problem if you play FSX "too much". You can't play FSX too much anyway because it is a simulation game- you can play on it for as long as you, want, and I think you should rethink that stupid comment. The first bit was alright, but saying that they play FSX too much is dumb.
@KautsarRz The point, stupid bro, si that you say ''I bet this is klm 747''. But the title says it all. KLM Boeing B747-400 Landing St. Maarten Cockpit view
Lololol at the people who think this is a game. Great job done by the pilots. I fly a Pip Seneca, not that big but it's a start. Hope to see more videos coming.
Wow, thanks for the AWESOME explanation in the description! I guess the FSX people figure they're more qualified than the pilots who fly the real thing, huh? ;)
@lekoman I'd like to just chime in here and say "No, not all". Maybe enjoy my channel for some professional SIMULATED videos within PMDG/FSX but from as real a world perspective as possible - as explained in my channel. However, yes, I agree; armchair pilots are a pain in the behind.
@SuredT Not all jets. Approaches to the boat in naval aircraft are primarily done with throttle inputs - more power for lower descent rate and less power for higher descent rate.
@CoralPumps Listen, this airport was built YEARS ago, when big planes were a fantasy. This airport only accepted the usual small planes that were around the time. The airport gained a lot of attention and bigger and bigger planes arrived. It is not like they built this airport for big planes like 50 years ago did they?
people hang onto that fence dividing the beach and airport for thrill because when the planes go down to land they put ALOT of force on those fencing so its like a rollercoaster
Great video. I enjoyed it. No comments about the landing being anything other than a landing. I don't fly real aircraft like you do.Don't pay any attention to the people on here, half of them crash on their landings on flight sim and cant possibly know what its like in real life.
@Nikedude109 - the video is great, it's just that there are a lot of dickheads on here who think they know a lot. What they comment takes seconds to check and usually prove them wrong. They shouldn't be allowed to comment like the idiot who reckons you never hear of KLM, AirFrance and Lufthansa crashes, what a cunt he is!
why did you bother to answer some silly questions for idiots who think they know more then you about flying. 20 years experience and people think they know more then you, idiots i tells ye!
@ptroinks That's just the length of the aircraft and the height of the cockpit above the ground. The mains are far behind the cockpit of the 747, hence the illusion of a late touchdown.
i could see the people on the beach before the plane landed. Now they can see what the pilot sees when he lands. A lot of mindless humans standing in the way of the plane.
dose that airport in real life really have u land on runway 27? i play fsx and it seems like i land on 27 alot more than 9 im just wondering if so landing on 27 whats a good approce?
@illstandbyyou In reality, no planes land on 27 because of what would be an extremely steep approach. It is too dangerous. In FSX, ATC decides what runway you will land on depending on the wind. If you have the wind set so you are landing into the wind on 27, then it will have you land on 27. Try setting the wind so it comes in from over the hills. This will give you the real approach.
You seemed a little high for my likings over the beach, whenever I come in, I'm usually straight down as soon as I can at Julianna, Simply because it's such a short runway. But anyway, you fly 747's. I do 757's . Amazing smooth landing, though!

things to remember from this video: pitch controls airspeed, power controls rate of descent.
clarity18 5 months ago
@clarity18. That is true for a light prop plane. In a Jet it is the other way around. Pitch is rate of descent, power is speed.
SuredT 3 months ago 21
@SuredT Not all jets. Approaches to the boat in naval aircraft are primarily done with throttle inputs - more power for lower descent rate and less power for higher descent rate.
SuperHornetDriver1 1 month ago
@SuredT I don't get the sense of your claim.
If you're high ------> lower pitch/trim and decrease throttle
If you're low --------> higher pitch/trim and increase throttle.
Well, which if the two controls the speed and which the ROD?
Well, it depends on the point of view. Both do both things!
Remunigerin 2 weeks ago
@SuredT to change the rate of descent without chaning speed, you have to adjust both pitch and throttle. So, what is the point?
Remunigerin 2 weeks ago
SEE FROM THE COCKPIT IT DOES NOT LOOK VERY MUCH DIFFERENT.
THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST AIRPORT IN THE WORLD AND THE LANDING REQUIRED THE WHOLE LENGTH OF THE AIRSTRIP.
