  • Wow, this live version's even better, and yes sultrier than the recorded version. EBTG just rule.

  • Love that song! One of their best, gives me a good mood, very catchy "I want your love". Grait!

  • Hi Plabuck. This is a performance from "The White Room" which was a music programme on maybe Channel 4 or ITV (some British TV channel anyway) around maybe 95/96. If memory serves the host was a guy called Steve Lamacq (sp?) though I'm not absolutely sure. It was a really good show. I think just about everyone who appeared on it played live.

I do remember one particular blinding appearance by early Kula Shaker doing 'Govinda'. Likewise hugs and kisses and a Happy New Year!

  • hi,

like others i like this song...i would like to know more about this concert (date, where, etc...)

please tell me if you know^^

    kisses, and happy new year

  • Bliss!

  • This has to be one of the sexiest songs ever...

  • Good combination of every instruments, cello and her emotion to sing with that electone...I love this song.

  • one of the best band in the 90'. Love that lazy dance sound

  • woooow!!!!.... podria matar para escuchar esta canción en vivo..... i love it!!!!!

  • Oh come on!! Who cares the dancers?

  • i loooooove this song sooooo much!!!!! i listen to it by work very often... but the "serious" dancer women in the corners are really ridiculous... well, the show is it :-))))

  • the dancers... what a bunch of tools.

  • @sweetsammyc : they're barely visible and i don't mind them actually...

  • I Love Tracey And EBTG Yeah!! :D

  • Her voice is so soulful, warm and sexy. I never gt tired of hearing her sing.

  • love this song!!! hate the stupid dancing girls in the background. this crowd doesn't realize it then, but they are getting a treat. i'd kill to hear this song live.

  • Msg to Oliban78 - The song you seek is called "Good Cop Bad Cop"

  • life in the here and now wouldnt be the same, ebtg, portishead, masiveattaack....... how would us 34yr olds handle a true come down on life, love or drugs when we were teens -20s..... memorys oh memorys...... wish i still had them x

  • I love EBTG. Frozen River. Don't mess with it.

  • Great voice

  • they guy playing they keyboard is getting d-o-w-n! i love this song and her voice.

  • from what year is this concert????

  • 1996

  • I Love EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL, The voice of Tracy Thorn is absolutely beautiful, and the music arrangement of her now husband Ben Watt, is AWESOME, I have always like the music and the sounds... beautiful music, too bad some ignorant people cant understand this type of music!

  • hi! i can see that you really like this wondrful band, i love it, i'm trying to find a song of them, with a beat really soft, and the lirycs says something like touch me or hold me, and some thing about clouds he.sorry.

  • everything but the girl rule. you clearly have no musical taste.

  • you and your horrible taste in music and classless youth culture are nothing but a fad. your screename is also lame as hell. grow up teeny bopper.

  • Well, aren't you the bright one? I mean, since EBTG first started recording in 1982, that would qualify as a fad, now, wouldn't it. Oh, and the fact that old fart (and great player!) Stan Getz contributed to one of their LP's. Oh, and the fact they recorded songs from songs from Bacharach and Jimmy Webb as well as a cover of Patsy Cline's "I Fall to Pieces." Yup, you're absolutely right! They're horrible, classless, and nothing more than a passing fad. Moron.

  • Well, I'm not that bright, but I'm smart enough to READ the comments before spouting crap and making myself look like an idiot. Had you done the same, you would know that I was RESPONDING to someone and NOT referring to EBTG, a band that I like very much. Unfortunately the internet produces too many like you, who like to trash and attack FIRST (not unlike the person i was responding to). Reading comprehension, try it and you'll find out that you are in fact, the moron. Moron.

  • There is nothing to indicate you're responding to that person other than a blank space. So, if you'll take a minute to look at the thread as it is NOW, you'll see that I was responding to what looks like an attack on EBTG. Sorry if it came off incorrectly. Oh, and by the way, I don't attack first - if you look at the context of my statements, they're directed entirely at everything you wrote. Of course, if that wasn't first, it's my error, but (I think) an understandable one.

  • man, go outside and enjoy the summer. you're too much frustrated. :)

  • here in my country its winter =S!! too bad!!

  • I listen to this song almost everyday, I love it. EBTG's sound was so original and influential of all ambient music that followed.

  • Definitivamente un sonido muy sofisticado. Felicidades a Everything but the girl por hacer musica de calidad!!!

  • the dancing looks soooo stupid!

  • the dancing may look stupid..but I like to watch anyway ;)

  • hello very romantic i couldnt have said it any clearer but to who but anyway shes grown alot from missing and troubled mind thanx

  • i've loved EBTG since EDEN, i still love them, and will them til the next lifetime!!!

  • great song!!!! reminds me of the long ago 90's (sigh) for more old school..check out my favorites

  • Awesome !!!!!!!

  • Woooow!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is SUCH A GREAT DUO!!!!! I absolutely love them!!! And this song ROCKS! Where are they now?? are they still making music???

  • man, what a gr8 song...they r the best...

  • they are so awesome, everything they put out, love them

  • They are. If you like this listen to 'Swing Out Sister' ..'breakout'produced by Quincy Jones.

  • i def will thanks

  • wow...nice !

    :)

  • Nice video.Thanks for sharing.

  • Remember the good time we passed.. in Madrid, 1987. With Love

  • amazing

  • what sort of drummer can fuckin drum that at dat speed

  • excellent performance! this song is part of 'The Saint' Soundtrack, awsome video!

  • Great performance, but those dancing girls are so distracting and useless. hahaha.

  • I would never have guessed they'd use a live electronic drumkit for the beats, I assumed they were totally sequenced.. waoh! Wish I could see them live... saw Ben Watt DJ in SF back in ~'04, killer deep house set

  • I agree! It makes me love them more!

  • "Before Today," what? What does Tracey mean?

  • I'm a big fan of the music, but THIS is the first time I've ever seen the band. LOL I must say..her zip up hoodie and high hip jeans are killing me!

  • Everything But The Girl VS Jungle rythm...

    Fantastico...

  • Great song!!! the music it's so good at live

  • Check out Sneaky Sound System when they are in London. An asmazing Aust band and currently touring with Sam Sparro.

  • this what i call "CHILL OUT MUSIC!"

  • Totally agree.

  • Me too

  • Yes !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • people won't understand this if they only hear it on their dumb computer speakers. It is a sweet bad killer 90's clubishh thing..jungle ..killer.

  • i agree!!!

  • I had to backtrack to the Marine Girls, my 1st exp was Native Land (which is finally posted here). Pure Class and the best voice in music, all music. Was fortunate to shake hands and chat for about 10 seconds once and they are as the appear, very nice and totally grounded. I do miss Bens suits though.

  • Tracey is in a class by herself. I never heard this one before, but I have it now. EBTG makes some of the most beautiful music.

  • Amazing song!

This could be a great song for a "love night", do you know what i mean.

  • Gosh... cool voice from Tracey, and always been.

  • Agreed, She always reminds me of Sade!

  • she is frickin AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is officially my favorite group. people always ask who is my favorite and i alway say i dont know but now i can say its everything but the girl =D and u gotta love the go go dancers especially the one on 3:00 and the other blonde is hilarious too!

  • The blonde sync dancer at 1:34 - who maybe Melissa Messenger (according to "CWalter")- is simply irreplaceable, though it seems she is performing for the camera. Too bad she is not performing for the sheer brillance of this song, "Before Today." Ben Watt is an exemplary composer, very passionate in his performance.

  • Been in love with Tracy Thorn since the Marine Girls, i'm so pleased they moved forward the way they have, an awesome band never failing to keep their finger on the pulse and get it soooo right in their own unique way. Awesome track, Tracy and Ben must have been pi***ng themselves over those dancers.

  • the go-go dancers obviously have no idea what rhythm is

  • The blonde at 1:34 - Melinda Messenger, right?!

  • Live they are so perfect like i feel i`m in a special lounge.

  • divine voice!

  • Liked them from the jazzy Eighties still loved them when they went elctro.

  • aww...she has such a honey voice!

  • 每次听都喜欢到受不了~!

  • What is the drummer playing on?

  • electronic drum machine

  • It's a midi controller no longer manufactured called the DrumKat.

  • C этого трека я полюила Everything But The Girl!!!

    АБАЖАЮ их!!!

  • i love the breakbeat in this track.

  • Many years ago (1986) someone gave me Baby, the Stars Shine Bright for my birthday and I will always be grateful. I have been a fan of EBTG ever since. The go-go dancers in this clip seem so cheap compared to the class Tracy always exudes. I hope they record again together someday.

  • I think EBTG, Porstihead and Massive Attack was the best in 90s...

(but, i dont know what you think)

  • Tracy is such a terrific singer! I discovered them in the 90s. Never grow tired of their music.

  • This is the best song of EBTG, la voz de tracy thorn es la mejor

  • Northern California Thumbs Up

  • Esse pessoal ainda nem fazia música e eu já gostava deles!

  • They just keep getting better and better.

  • WOW! Another great video of the beautiful song. I really like the cello as bass in this performance.
