Leave it to these former(or current?)drunk and drugged Eagles which 18 years ago they made this antithesis of their former lifestyle encapsulating the message that beautifully goes against the PC, Freedom-grabbing, Liberal crowd.
its ironic that this song is about how they hate bitching, but the entire song is just bitching. they are bitching about bitchers. the song is about how there is never a good reason to complain, but they completely make themselves hypocrites by complaining for the entire song. what a bunch of hypocrites. if you ask me, there is often good reason to complain about stuff.
@zcrosby Their NOT complaining, they're telling the complainers to "get over it" and get on with their lives! I have a friend who's constantly bitching and moaning about his current lot in life and blaming on his parents, (now deceased), his former landlord and anyone else he can think of, so I can identify with this song cause I am quite frankly sick to death of his not taking the bull by the horns and taking responsibility for his own damn life like oh I don't know, an ADULT?
@Rangerboy9404 do you not realize that you're bitching and moaning right now? look up "hypocrite" in the dictionary because that's what you're being right now and you ought to know this. your statement just completely contradicted yourself.
@Rangerboy9404 i know but the song's message contradicts itself. if you hate whiners, and then whine about them, then that makes you the same as the people you hate. most people don't understand how hypocritical they are.
@zcrosby You know what's funny, man? You're doing the exact same thing you're bitching at Rangerboy9404 about. So, another Youtube hypocrite calling another Youtuber a hypocrite. It's an endless cycle of one dude being a dick and the other trying to get the dick to understand what the fuck is going on when he's too stupid to. (you are the dick in this situation)
By the way, what this song is doing is stating facts. Facts are not whining, they're facts.
@donbehatin actually, I have thought about it and he's not understanding the meaning of the song. Yes, they are complaining about people who complain, as was I, but NOT those who complain about the weather, or the price of gas or oil for example, which they can't control, but those who complain about how their own life sucks and blame it on others rather than accepting responsibility for their own lives their own lives they CAN control but choose not to.
@donbehatin the difference is that I never said that its wrong to complain. If you read my original comment you would see that part of it says "if you ask me, there is often good reason to complain about stuff."
I don't think its wrong to complain but I do think it is wrong to be a hypocrite.
@RangersLadForever Elder Scrolls Skyrim, one of the guard quotes is "I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I got an arrow in the knee." Skyrim guards, Y U No get better knee armor?
@RangersLadForever In Elder Scrolls: Skyrim one of the guard quotes is "I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I got an arrow in the knee." Apparently all the guards in Skyrim got him in the knee with arrows, they should get better knee armor.
I think I would kinda have to disagree with you on this one. All you need to do is view the Video of the live version of this song and you can tell Don has some real hardcore beliefs. I get the sense he believes every word he sings with a healthy dose of venom. Not saying he is a Republican or Democrat, but he is boldly opinionated and he does not really try to hide it.
This song is dedicated to all the sorry ass people that sit on their couches drinking beer, smoking pot and crack, and waiting on the NEXT welfare check to come so they can buy MORE beer, pot and crack.Oh yeah, you know that great BIG ole check that yo prez promised you way back in 2008?Well guess what retards? IT AIN'T COMING.
@mistercoors You've got the wrong generation, moron. I don't ask for anything, I work for what I have. You're talking about the 20-30 age bracket that likes 'occupying'.
@Politcalamity No,your're wrong MORON.My comment went out to ALL generations of welfare rapers. If you want to compare notes,I worked for 50+ years of my life and finally decided to retire. And,there are sorry ass people of all ages doing the silly ass "occupying" all over this country.Newt Gingrich hit the nail on the head when he said,"They should get a job AFTER they take a bath".And NO ONE can tell me there isn't jobs out there. It's just hard to find decent folks that want to work.
OCCPUY PROTESTORS - Listen to this song. "You don't wanna work you wanna live like a king, but the big bad world doesn't owe you a thing..GET OVER IT"
My friend used to listen to techno and always talked about ''how cool that one beat was''. One day I got sick of it, and told him to GET OVER IT. Now he has turned to Rock side :)
HOLY SMOKE, RIGHT!! i love this song it states my attiude and whole train of thinking , Life is to short to worry about yesterdays, short comings and mistakes..
all this {should of, could of, would of.} it easier to JUST GET OVER IT.. GOD have given us another day, to pick our selves up, dust our selves off,and try again..
AWESOME!! I love the Eagles, and go to their concerts every chance I get.
In fact, heard them last year Oct. 10 in Austin....and they are as wonderful now , if not better, than when I heard them back in the early 90's before they broke up...
This song is SOOOO timely...and that's what I love about their music, it is timeless. I wish they'd come back and do another concert here....I will dance all night long...GO EAGLES!!
My favorite song when I was 5, I unfortunately started later to listen to some shitty rap but I fortunately found the good way again! Classic Rock has always been the thing in music!
Let it deliver an absolutely clear message to everyone that thinks that all they have to do in life is claim they are "a victim of this or a victim of that" and they will get a never ending free ride off of society.
The new message is that the times they may just might be a changing and the freeloaders gravy train is running out of Congressional free money and may be making its final run soon.
Time to be introduced to the big bad world - good luck
I think I just might blast this song to my 15 yr old son, when he goes on his negative rants all of the time! But it's a good reminder to myself also, not to "go to confession every time I speak". It's way too easy to let our frustrations and mostly our thoughts lead us into acting like idiots....so helpless when it's a choice we are making to feel helpless. Our culture encourages and models this! We need to resist it! "The big, bad world really doesn't owe us a thing".
@WOLFTOR47 yes, this horrible song "touched" my cochlear nerve.. its so funny to see so many teabaggers politicizing this lame song. politics is always BS.. GET OVER IT!!!!
@Slackware10 oh man, i haven't been called sonny since my grampa was still alive.. what a sweet old geezer you must be.. awwwwwwwwww.. suck my dick, asshole!!
I'll agree with on this, the song isn't politically inspired.
In fact it's actually based upon Don Henley's disgust at watching daytime television programs where an army of miscreants, malcontents and misfits sit around all day blaming everyone else in the world, but themselves, for their life's misfortunes instead of just getting up off their backsides and doing something constructive about it.
Personal responsibility isn't political, its an obligation everyone owes to society
That is where you are wrong.....people do not OWE anything to society. If they choose to GIVE to society, fine. But as RUSH would say....beggars adn bleeding hearts always cry out for more..."
I think you're addressing "social" responsibility (a separate issue entirely),
I'm addressing "personal" responsibility.
When we take "personal" responsibility, we admit that we are the ones responsible for the choices that we make and we do whatever we have to do so we don't become a burden on society.
I think this song is simply calling out that ever burgeoning class of self made victims who always blame others first for their personal shortcomings and life's failures.
The Eagles are such an underrated band! All their songs are amazing. Their lyrics have so much meaning and they have such a range in styles, from Desperado and Sad Café to Life in the Fast Lane and Get Over It. Just awesome.
Underrated? I thought they produced one of the best selling albums of all time. They get regular airplay on the radio. I think they definitely got the recognition they deserved...
@EuphrasieF I think I've only heard them on the radio once or twice but I guess it depends where you are, what station you listen to. And I guess they got a lot of reception from people and stuff, I just don't think they get enough recognition these days. Like if you ask people about best artists, etc they'll generally say Elvis, The Rolling Stones, Queen or something like that (not that I'm saying they don't deserve it) but I feel the Eagles should be in there more often than they tend to be...
@Politcalamity As opposed to the Baby Boomer generation who want to milk Social Security and Medicare until the well runs dry. Your generation talks tough to us but you certainly feel like you're eternally entitled to be taken care of by the system even if you live to be 130.
you know .. the first concert i ever saw was the eagles hell freezes over reunion show in the meadowlands back in 94... and i appreicate them and everything .. and i love classic rock and everything (oh and i LOVE joe walsh) but something about Don Henley' makes me want to kill myself
*Correction: All legal issues were resolved between Henley, Frey, and Felder in late 2007 for "an undisclosed amount of money." Since the various lawsuits had dragged on for so long I wasn't aware until double-checking on Wikipedia that they were now terminated. But my original point stands. Peace.
Apparently Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and Don Felder don't believe the lawyers who are representing them in their current nasty lawsuit against each other should be killed.
The "kill the lawyers" idea is cheap demagoguery, folks. All rich and famous people, including these guys, use them when they think they need them. I've always liked the Eagles but they know better than to pen half-baked stuff like this.
THANK YOU!!! You have no idea how long i waited to find a good version on youtube. there used to be one with lyrics, then they took it down and all i could find were covers of this song. not that they were bad, but there few as good on the guitar as Don Henley. Thank you
@sooozaq really? i never knew that joe walsh played with the eagles. but then there is a lot of things that im still learning. don henley did play for them though right?
hey there. you are right. henley is a founding member along with glenn frye. tim schmit is bass, and don felder was lead guitar until a falling out and now stuart smith is lead. joe walsh has played with them for many years, back to the 70's. go see them if you can. worth every single penny.
@sooozaq see i grew up with the radio and not much else so a lot of my favorite artists were "those guys" ive only heard of don henley before tonight. And joe walsh for Rocky mountain way. but thanks for the history lesson lol
I love this song and it's lyrics. I agree with ultrajd: Washington should listen this to and memorize the words. We got it pretty damned good in America and have ZERO reason w to wring our hand and whine.
Leave it to these former(or current?)drunk and drugged Eagles which 18 years ago they made this antithesis of their former lifestyle encapsulating the message that beautifully goes against the PC, Freedom-grabbing, Liberal crowd.

*Correction: All legal issues were resolved between Henley, Frey, and Felder in late 2007 for "an undisclosed amount of money." Since the various lawsuits had dragged on for so long I wasn't aware until double-checking on Wikipedia that they were now terminated. But my original point stands. Peace.
danning1 10 months ago
Apparently Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and Don Felder don't believe the lawyers who are representing them in their current nasty lawsuit against each other should be killed.
The "kill the lawyers" idea is cheap demagoguery, folks. All rich and famous people, including these guys, use them when they think they need them. I've always liked the Eagles but they know better than to pen half-baked stuff like this.

As Rick Santelli said, "President Obama, are you LISTENING?!?"

every time i hear this song.
every single time.
all i can think of is the most absurd, over the top, awesome race ever. to the point that when i was little i'd call it "the race song".
and now i finally have the resources to prove it! (aka capture card :P)

For some reason, I thought this was Kenny Loggins the first time I heard this song...lame I know, but it sounds like him almost.

THANK YOU!!! You have no idea how long i waited to find a good version on youtube. there used to be one with lyrics, then they took it down and all i could find were covers of this song. not that they were bad, but there few as good on the guitar as Don Henley. Thank you
woodtick71 11 months ago
@woodtick71
That would be Joe Walsh on the guitar and Don Felder too
sooozaq 10 months ago

@woodtick71
hey there. you are right. henley is a founding member along with glenn frye. tim schmit is bass, and don felder was lead guitar until a falling out and now stuart smith is lead. joe walsh has played with them for many years, back to the 70's. go see them if you can. worth every single penny.
sooozaq 10 months ago 2
@sooozaq see i grew up with the radio and not much else so a lot of my favorite artists were "those guys" ive only heard of don henley before tonight. And joe walsh for Rocky mountain way. but thanks for the history lesson lol

I love this song and it's lyrics. I agree with ultrajd: Washington should listen this to and memorize the words. We got it pretty damned good in America and have ZERO reason w to wring our hand and whine.
