i'm sorry... but what is your problem ??? you don't have to be sarcastic because someone likes Mr. Bean... and besides, what does it matter... I was just talking bout the song, I heard it in one of his movies and thats why I got to know it... geesh >_> having a bad day or something ?
Thank you for this. It always reminds me of family holiday at Cap Gris Nez in the 1960ies and 70ies. It also features on a fantastic CD called Cafe de Paris.
The sea, that we see dance, all along the bright gulf(bay), has silvers reflects, the sea...of changing reflects under the raaiinnnn ainnn Hard to translate :P its the first couplet at least enjoy ur french lesson lol
I think Bobby Darin's Beyond The Sea is a great, great record...but this is something that transcends pop music. One of the most perfectly moving combinations of music and lyric ever. Love Trenet's subtle variations of the melody as the song proceeds. I could listen to this 20 times over without feeling I had enough.
I appreciate your taking the trouble to translate the words for those who don't speak French. Mike
I didn't make the pictures thinking of Charles Trenet. In fact I made those pictures for postcards and poster. The idea of making a slideshow with Charles Trenet came years after...
Einer der ganz Grossen. Merci pour la presentation.

And it was a very appropriate song for the end of that movie, as that was his goal, to see The Sea.

French is a beautiful, evocative and poetic language UNFORTUNATELY it's been hijacked by the French who insist on using it all the time !

The sea, which we see dancing along the clear gulfs
has silver reflections. The sea, has changing reflections
Under the rain. The sea, To the summer sky confuses her white sheep, With angels so pure. The sea,
Shepherdess of infinite blue. See, Next to the ponds
Those tall wet reeds. See, Those white birds, And those rusty houses. The sea, Has rocked them, Along the clear gulfs, And with a love song, The sea,
Has rocked my heart for life.
