  • WHY??

A simple 25 dollar lock will work just fine. If you want Hi Tech every major brand makes one with hidden wires. In fact you could use an electric strike that notifies the computer who made entry and you carry a little fob that is about the size of a quarter.

  • The fourth way to unlock this door is to just pop out the three hinge pins that are sitting there entirely unprotected.

  • wow this stuff is amazing

  • Perfect!!! Now I just gotta carrry a wiimote in my back pocket!! lol

  • How do i know the door was actually locked?

  • really mrthiennnn? this is 2010, grow the fuck up and get with this century

  • fucking gooks

  • because they are geeks. Using FreeBSD for a door lock system :)

  • ...because carrying a wiimote, turning it on, and burning through AA batteries is more convenient than a little key...?

  • or you could use the rechargeable battery pack like a smart person.

  • it still is pretty cool

  • try pressing "English." It's next to a green arrow in capital letters; upper right.

  • My bad; that takes you away from the page.

  • How did you get the microcontroller to detect the wiimote? Or was the servo running straight from a laptop?

  • if it was that would be sneaky sneak :D

  • Does, or will, Nintendo be coming out with a wii locking system? A real one would have to fit efficiently right on the door, or be the actual doorknob? It could work. Sony has that card system already, right? I probably would have opted for a retina and fingerprint scan.

  • NO really cuz now just from seeing this video i can fully make one of these door lock systems

  • totally cool. but you know that is just a broom closet that he is pretending to walk deeply into. he just walks in a foot or two and stands there with a bunch of brooms and tacked up playboy centerfolds until he feels the shot is done. what a CON!

  • pointless

  • Wow! Technology is amazing! You are very smart! While not practical, a WiiMote door lock is very cool. It would make a great conversation piece for your friends.

  • To demonstrate use of technology is good, but the concept of using a big clunky wiimote as an alternative to a key/card is rubbish, plus look at the size of the hardware strapped to the back of the door.

The second option, magnetic card was the best.

Should have considered RFiD, finger print reader.

  • It's called a prototype. When they developed the magnetic card reader the setup probably would have looked the same if not with even larger hardware strapped to the door. I know a wiimote entry system will never be developed but if it was it could easily be built into the door and invisible.

This is also called "Trying new things." It's how stuff gets invented.

  • i dont want to carry a remote around the house or some place!

  • i thought it was kind of cool but it looks expensive and can other open your door if they have their own wii?

  • i thought it was funny. i would do it but i don't want to carry around the wii mote everywhere. i would use stuff like that everywhere. on my stereo or my tv or anything really.

  • Is "gay" really the best word that you could come up with to express your opinion? It's not even that descriptive (not to mention that I find your comment offensive).

  • This video is boring and contains an unusually high amount of useless information.

  • i know the card isn't cuz we use them at our school to get into classes that r locked so they know who gose in and out....but wiimote not so much, however u can hear it click open(u should be smart enough to know the key works)

  • you should have him jiggle the handle, then use the method to prove it isn't faked.

  • LOL, It's funny to hear him use the button to activate the lock, if they are gonna fake it they could at least concealed it better. But hacking the control to work like you want it to is ezy.

  • Not fake the system is possible, but not economical a door lock with key pad is A LOT cheaper ebay!!!

  • Pause it at :20, :21, :24 and u look at the inside of the door handle.... there are fuckin keys in it... someone opened itn inside...so this is FAKE!!!

  • thats not keys u dumb ass its a box, keys arnt box shaped

  • F A K E= FAKE!!!

  • BADASS!!!

  • damn japs

  • y not use it on bedroom door, the door in video is obviously not the front door, u geniuses

  • its a test environment, asshole

  • I have recently been appointed The Housing Director at large for the of the country`s largest municipal district councils and was extremely interested to watch this clip with the intention of incorporating some of the features in the next scheme of security upgrades of our properties.

  • that's cool... but what the hell is a "BT dongle"??

  • bluetooth dongle

  • crap video... who wants to carry that huge wiimote to unlock the door?

  • errr..... an intruder/thief maybe?!

  • me xD

  • wife says "why is the front door swinging open and closed all night love" husband replies "oh next door ar playing mario bros

  • ROTFL I can see shit like that happening. And another if someone find out they can use a Wii Remote. Um yeah you can say goodbye too all your expensive shit lol. No Thanks I'll pass.

  • AMAZING TO THE MAX!

  • Wow>>> Another Dorky use of the wii mote

  • thats amazing

  • that's the best digital lock i haver ever seen, all that other crap on the market can be broken by any crackhead with a hammer, but this thing is hidden from outside view!

  • That would be cool for a Wii club or something ^^!!!

  • what other neat stuff can you do with the wiimote?

  • what was the point of that? Couldn't anyone with a wii mote open your door?

  • but no one thinks about that.

you can make your bank safe like that. not any bankrobber would imagine to use a wiimote

  • until now

  • It isnt every day you get to see someone open a door with a key. May i suggest some other ways of opening a door, i hope you show them in your next vid. 1. Crowbar 2. Car jack 3. Shotgun 4. Dynamite 5. Big heavy piece of steel beam you can barely lift 6. Pissed off circus elephant. These would be even more fascinating than your fabulous video.

  • just throw him through the door,na he is way to small

  • sounds boring

  • kind of retarted and a waste of time. And that means anyone with a wii mote could lockit, at least normal keys are safer and cheaper

  • whats a dongle?

  • in this video, "dongle" = "usb-bluetooth adapter."

we are using ES-388, but any standard compliant usb-bluetooth adapter should work with wiimote + FreeBSD.

  • and how much did tht cost u?

  • under $100 except PC and motor, about 3 hrs for programming.

we are already working with some FreeBSD PC-servers, so elec-fee is not the matter at all.we used these servers to operate this system.

  • cooooool

  • Lol nice trick with the wii mote.. i didnt know it was that easy.. but good work dude ;)

  • allright already. why do we not have sex robots yet. and why is nobody taking on this development. It really would make life better for people. Imagine a brothel of sex robots.

  • :\ it is not very believable.

we don't even know if the door was locked.

  • It works, you can use wii remote with many applications!

    Trust in me ;->

  • trust in you.

you're a complete stranger. oh well, when i get a wii ( not likely) i'll try on that type of door which i will probably come across only twice in my whole life.

  • nice

  • what a load

  • what a load of absolute shit

  • Need to prove that door is, in fact, locked before supposedly opening "locked" door.

  • So ein Schwachsinn.

  • haha nice.

  • Nice!

  • funny. wii has no good games anymore so people are doing crazy mods.

  • lol!

  • Wait so you used a Sony component and a Nintendo component in cooperation for this? The apocalypse is near!

  • the real wiikey!!! lolll

  • Fun, Completely pointless but fun

  • you are awesome, this is so cool door opening has never been cool UNTIL NOW!

you need a prize or something

  • that's pretty sweet, but can't anyone with a wiimote open your door now?

  • each wiimote has a unique ID(48bit bluetooth address), so we can recognize individual wiimote separately.only "registered" them have access to the door.

anyway, our most prefer way is FeliCa card. it's cheap(500 yen - about $4) and very widely used(commuter pass, electronic cash, etc.) in Japan.
