Except for the shipments of Russian and Chineze arms, the viet cong and North Vietnamese Army fought on their own. The reason why they won was because of their superior logistics, their guerrilla fighting and the fact that the Americans had no more popular support to continue the war.

@Enzo Actually it was. I've been to vietnam; the Vietnam War is one of my favorite history subjects. Except for the shipments of Russian and Chineze arms, the viet cong and North Vietnamese Army fought on their own. The reason why they won was because of their superior logistics, their guerrilla fighting and the fact that the Americans had no more popular support to continue the war.
But you're right though, my point was that wars SHOULD be won that way. Unfortunately, that's not always true.

Vietnam is still communist but has a lot of capitalist (American) influences which make China frown. Iran will remain China's ally as long as it opposes the US. If the regime falls, then these relationships will shatter. China has supported Iran well enough during the Iran Iraq war and maybe it will again in the future... I guess we'll find out soon enough...

We have taken control from the Taliban and given it to Hamid Karzai. Iran could never take control from the Taliban or find Osama bin laden.
