Johnny Weir put his entire soul on display in this performance and it was gorgeous from start to finish - in the end, he actually WON morally and in any other meaningful way!
Figue skating's loss is the World's gain! Johnny's clothing designs are out (order the warm up jacket!), his BOOK's coming out, and the World holdshim high upon its shoulders. Screw the LOWLIFE JUDGES... everyone knows the TRUTH.
Johnny was robbed, he should have had at LEAST bronze. He's much more graceful and enjoyable to watch than the spinning tops Plushenko and Lyscacek...they were without any emotion or dynamics other than GO GO GO, which was not as great for the viewer though it may have added up to more points.
Johnny is so smooth, much more so than any of the others. Better looking, too. Lysachek and Plushenko are anything but handsome. Personally I would rather watch Johnny's style than the Canadian Elvis who looked like a longshoreman. Besides, androgyny is interesting. I love Johnny Weir, Hope he is around for years. I watch his show on Sundance, too. So glad his roomie is gone. He was sickening. Johnny is incredible.
@9520518 Johnny was underscored seriously. But I like a variety of styles. I really liked Elvis and thought he was an exciting and energetic skater. I liked the martial arts. I never thought he lacked for grace or understood those who made fun of his physique... I didn't entirely agree with his rants about the 2010 judging, though he made some good points. Think of the 3 very different skaters who were on the 1994 podium, along with a few others who dominated the 90s, I liked them all.

I wanted to Ask Someone, At the End of Johnny Weir's Performances when he was sitting down to get his scores after his Skate, I couldn't Understand who he was saying 'HI' to because he was talking fast and In Russian of course!!
Would Anyone know what he was Saying and could Help Me Out that would be really Great!!
As someone who loves figure skating I don't think that it important if he is gay or not. But I do beleive that judges expect a routine that shows masculinity. The problem with his performances is they seem to belong to the female category. He is a great athlete, and his private life is his, but on the rink he should remenber he is competing on the MALE category
The Olympics don't truely exist anymore, the medal placements for mens figure skating is evidence that it no longer belongs to the world. I watched for the performances and the athletes; I try to make my own opinions rather than buy-in to politics in mass media.
I want to know who those idiot judges are. Actually, I am a bit glad they scored Johnny so low.. because if hey just scored him slightly low then people might assume that Johnny got legitimately low scores. By giving him outrageously low scores, it is OBVIOUS that the judges screwed him royally. The judges also gave Plushenko and Lycsacok higher scores than they deserved.
I think Johnny should have gotten at least SILVER. Weir's routines were as difficult as Lycsacok's and done much better
The problem with the new scoring system is that it allows the judges far too much opportunity to either inflate or underscore the performances. One suggestion for fixing the judging problem is to put their names and faces on camera so we can identify which of them is the most corrupt.
After watching Weir skate I really feel that he did not receive the marks that he deserves. His routine may not be of the same caliber as the Japanese or Lysacek, but he skated it perfectly and it is ridiculous that his artistic score was lower than the skaters in 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Lysacek skated a great program, however, it did not capture my attention the same way that Weir did. He doesn't seem like a champion, at least with Plushenko you feel like he's a champ.
If you were at a show of figure skating, can you imagine watching an hour of quads, triples, etc or would you rather watch the beauty and grace of someone like Johnny Weir figure skating besides his jumps of precision and grace. There's a reason why it's called figure skating and he portrays the very essence of it. Plushenko does a great quad, but after that, he's a mess.
If it was a jumping competition, Plushenko should have won over Lycsacok. Weir and Lycsacok's routines were of equal difficulty, but Weir performed them much more smoothly and was far more entertaining and professional looking. Plushenko and Lycsacok's scores were higher than they deserved whilst Weir's scores were lower than he deserved. Even Elvis Stojko who admits he HATES Weir's style of skating admitted that Weir's scores should have been much higher. The crowd knew Johhny got the shaft
Actually, that would be a good thing for Plushenko to do.. Plushenko already has a GOLD olympic medal. By giving his SILVER to Johnny, he would clearly be making a statement that his silver should have been GOLD. Plushenko doesn't need that silver for anything, and Plushenko would also be capturing the sentiment of most people that Weir was treated unfairly by the judges. GIVE THE SILVER TO WEIR!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
People seem to forget that many if not most male figure skaters are gay. For instance.. DICK BUTTON.. BRIAN BOITANO, SCOTT HAMILTON, ELVIS STOJKO, STEPHANE LAMBIER.. Here's a hint.. they skate solo instead of as a duo with a female partner. Perhaps the olympics should have male/male duo figure skating!
well to skate it requires a certain amount of grace and elegance and so it takes a man with a feminine side usually to feel free enough to show and express that side cant see lebron james figure skating can you?
Well, in many atheltic endeavors, it seems there are a lot of gays and lesbians. Female athletes must have the strength and determination of a male, while males must often have grace and elegance and smoothness - like in ballet. Johnny Weir isn't just feminine, he has a full spectrum of talents and abilities ranging from physical strength, determination, grace, style, class, etc. Up until 3 months ago, Tiger Woods got away with being a sex pig. Weir might be a virgin yet is vilified as gay.
I don't think it's so much gay and lesbian as simply androgynous. Like you said, strength and determination are traditionally masculine traits, while grace and elegance are traditionally female. And in combining those two--that's what makes a champion.
What is with all the negative ratings I got for my comment? My point was that Johnny Weir should NOT be vilified for being gay. He is flamboyant but that doesn't equal gay. Johnny has said repeatedly that he isn't having sex with anyone (male nor female), yet he has alluded to having sex with himself and being quite satisfied with that. Why would he lie about being gay? On the other hand, many skaters who ARE gay are not vilified for being gay, such as Button,Boitano,Hamilton,Stojko,Lambier.
Johnny Weir skated a flawless short program and flawless long program which was artistic and graceful and athletic. He got cheated by the judges on BOTH of his programs leading to a 5th place finish. The ONLY booing by the crowds during the figure skating was after the scoring of BOTH of Johnny's programs! The only way Johnny could have gotten a gold medal is if he did a backflip and two quads! Plushenko and Lycsacok did NOT deserve to get gold and silver. Boycott olympics and NBC.. I am!
I agree with you, and Elvis Stojko. Figure skating isn't what it used to be and a lot of the male skating was quite feminine the only difference with Johnny was that the femine skating suited him and he took it to the next level and truly performed great. Elvis Stojko believes that figure skating has been killed and I agree. And although Elvis said he doesn't care much for Johnny's style he thought Johnny deserved more than what he got, by far. Why couldn't the judges have been as truthful?
I didn't know that Stojko said that! That is VERY interesting. Elvis is very anti-Weir, yet even ELVIS said that Johnny deserved much more? Just who ARE these judges? Who selects the judges?
Figure skating is dead. It was called figure skating because the skaters used to be required to make perfect circles, figure 8's, and other geometric figures. All the FIGURE skating was removed from the olympics after 1992. They should call it Jump & Spin Skating.
Plushenko's jumps lacked artistry, and he landed like a sledgehammer instead of appearing to land softly. They are supposed to make it look natural and graceful, not like a series of BANGS. Also, Plushenko's footwork is terrible. He did the jumps but forgot about the skating part. Still, Plushenko did everything that Lycsacok did, and did a more difficult routine. Lycsacok and Weir did equally difficult routines, but Weir did his better. Lycsacok had the backing promotion of NBC and media.
He was completely underscored, he deserved more than 82.10(i think thats what it was) i was thinking that he'd get like high 80's for the program, but i guess not. he did make some mistakes but they shouldn't have been huge enough to lower his score by that much:/
You should say this is a "review" or "comment", not fool people into believing that this is the "Real video". Back on Johny, I believe he put an amazing performance, but even though I really love his choreography, I think that Daisuke Takahashi did a better job. I still cheer for Johny.
Johnny skated very well last night! His score should have been higher than what the judges gave him. He has said in the past that most judges don't favor his style.
