  • A good friend of mine in Tokyo tells me today:

    re

    "Pick up your hat

    Close up your flat

Get out and get under the moon"

''MrDanBloom, I was 8 or 9 in Tokyo when I first listened to this song by Nat Cole. I didn't

understand what "flat" meant then. In 1960s, nobody around me did either.

Now we do. A giant step.''

  • When you're all alone, any old night,

    And you're feeling mighty blue,

Pick up your hat, close up your flat,

Get out, get under the moon!

  • Underneath that bright, silvery light,

    You'll be feeling better soon,

Pick up your hat, close up your flat,

Get out, get under the moon!

Da-da-da-da-da-da, walk, walk, kiss and then walk again,

And talk, talk, kiss and then talk again,

Oh, boy, sweethearts are all in June!

  • I mean it, when it's raining out, stay in your flat,

But on a lovely night in June,

Pick up your hat, close up your flat,

Get out, get under the moon!
