Hi there, maybe you dont have a great abilitie with your fingers, but you have the most important thing in the music, YOUR GREAT SOUND AND AWESOME GROOVE...
Javier, Brotha!! Very nice. I am a new "Jay" fan! As a jazz/instrumental music enthusiest (and huge Dave fan), I know that some of those transitions can be tough, but you laid it down the whole way through. Right on, man. Hope to see you next year!
if anyones interested, my buddy who hooked me up with my vids posted sum videos of our church choirs that i also play for. check em out!!! hope y'all enjoy em! PEACE!!!
Very nice man, a fresh perspective! The biggest thing I would say is that you often feel a little disjoined. Your bass foot is a little inconsistent at times and sometimes pushes a little too much and I think your right hand tends to follow it. Sometimes it lays in that pocket real nice and sometimes you could bring it back just a bit. Cheers!
ahhhh yes thats my jam right there..that song taught me to play open hand, dats a sweet groove and that reggae off time is tricky but you got it locked dawg keep up the great work!!...next u gotta cover "lover lay down" by DMB...
jay! dude right on. the feel you have on the drums is inspiring. your interpretation of the song was nice. you held it down and supported the song's groove like carter does but had your own style. your a great drummer. i would say to try and play open hand like cb but you got it down playin righty. the only positive criticism i would give would be to try and vary the dynamics on your snare hits and try incorporating more ghost notes. very well done dude! dowy
oh yeah!! the snare is 5x13. correction, the lower tom is 14" not 13. when i tune my drums, i keep em fairly tight, not to the point where the sound is choked but to where it has a good ring to em. the lower tom has a moon gel strip on it, but everything else is pretty much wide open.
the drums belong to my buddy who hookd me up on these vids. they are the pacific chameleons wth shallow toms. they are amazing. i used em live in a concert without mics n they rocked, especially the 12x20 kick!! they are 5x10, 6x12 and a 7x13 toms.
1st off, thanx again for the comments, but let me clarify that this is just my version of the song. i wouldnt for the life of me try to imitate carter!! lol.
groove is good think you should work on your left hand on the snair thair is alot more goin on than you think. lov the regee feal you dropped at the end. good work. check mike martel on you tube and rich martel. me and my bro
Damn! I'm usually hard pressed to accept a Carter rendition - especially when one puts their own touch on it - but you really had a nice groove there, I really enjoyed it. Keep it up!
I'll admit never really listened to Dave Matthew's band all that much, but this song is pretty cool. Can't wait for you to do more, but don't forget to use "Joey" next time Jay. Peace ninja!

Great interpretation man, especially given the size of your kit. Carter has like 25 pieces and you pulled it off with way less, amazing! 5/5
