Bootcamp doesnt necessarily make you a badass in the octagon though. You will be trained to kill, not to go 3 or 5 rounds with a guy. A lot of Marines are successful in the octagon but that is not what the corps trains you for. You would need to go to the MMA for that.

I was a navy corpsman 94-99. I spent time blue side and green side. While I will say day to day life was a little harder green side, them leathernecks treated far better than my own branch. I really cant say much good or bad about other services as I had very little interaction with them. But I will say this I think the marines are something special and as a corpsman I got to be part of something special with them everyday. Being called doc was an honor and a privalege.
@olddickbrent Corpsman are our brothers from another mother (i.e. Navy), they train as hard as us, are in the shit with us and will do everything that's humanly possible to keep us alive in the field. High level special reconnaissance Marines at the O-3 level lead a Marine Special Operations Team (MSOT) of 14 Marines, and that is the smallest number of men under an Officer's command. Naval support was so vital that when the navy decided to position the ships in a open sea the marines in guadacanal protested. There are a lot of stories like this. Maybe your unit has received any help from other services, but its not unique it happens to the navy too.

corpsman is NAVY medical one respond Marine's need cuz it seems like Marine doesnt have Medical personnel, so they turn 2 NAVY (U should know technically Marine belongs to NAVY, right?) After the corpsman finish MCT, he can wear Marine uniform with title US.NAVY, or he can just stay in his NAVY uniform, personal choice. iz pretty unique thing, I don't know if other branches have any similar thing.

When a marine calls for his doc, under hostile fire while everyone takes cover, there you see a corpsman running, crawling, carrying and attending a wounded marine. He knows that his brother marine is hurt he also knows its dangerous but a corpsman will go out under fire just to save a marine.

Years ago I had discussion with someone who called me an idiot for depending a Navy Corpsman. To debunked his claim that "marines are supermen and HMC are wimps" I pointed out nicely that during WW2 in the Pacific a marine colonel once said the corpsmen are more marine than my marines. I was a navy corpsman 94-99. I spent time blue side and green side. While I will say day to day life was a little harder green side, them leathernecks treated far better than my own branch. I really cant say much good or bad about other services as I had very little interaction with them. But I will say this I think the marines are something special and as a corpsman I got to be part of something special with them everyday. Being called doc was an honor and a privalege.

Officer's, at the very lowest level lead platoon size elements of around 40 Marines. High level special reconnaissance Marines at the O-3 level lead a Marine Special Operations Team (MSOT) of 14 Marines, and that is the smallest number of men under an Officer's command. Naval support was so vital that when the navy decided to position the ships in a open sea the marines in guadacanal protested. There are a lot of stories like this. corpsman is NAVY medical one respond Marine's need cuz it seems like Marine doesnt have Medical personnel, so they turn 2 NAVY (U should know technically Marine belongs to NAVY, right?) After the corpsman finish MCT, he can wear Marine uniform with title US.NAVY, or he can just stay in his NAVY uniform, personal choice. iz pretty unique thing, I don't know if other branches have any similar thing.

haha im a corpsman, served with marines 3 years, two combat tours to afghanistan, its funny someone wants to argue that the corpsman one, ive beaten many many of my marines in a lil wrestling match, haha just cause we're navy and corpsman doesnt mean i cant whip ass just as good as a marine can. haha

Don't bash the Navy or Corpsmen... The Navy has 747 Medal of Honor recipients vs 297 for the Marines, that's 2.5x more! Corpsmen make up 3% of the Navy and Marine Corps. Per capita, the Navy Hospital Corps is the most decorated segment of the United States Military. Oorah Devil Doc!
