  • Most of this comes across as racist against Europeans...

  • lol im watching all of the videos that involve countries begginings and the british empire is responsible for atleast 70% of them. we were right cunts.

  • @TheYesWinston I'm watching all these videos too & it's true, most the countries were built by british settlers and kept an Anglo structure in making their nations. That's why English is the international aviation, technological, science & business language of the world & the lingua franca. Our family group settled much of the Anglosphere nations of the world, built Hong Kong & India too. A good video to see on YT is 'Britain, America and the making of the modern world.'

  • @TheYesWinston The Spanish made most the south American nations, the Portuguese made Brazil & France had some colonies in areas, but if you look at all the English settled & speaking nations, they are today the most advanced & powerful nations on the planet, compared to any Spanish speaking nation, for instance. London is the financial, restaurant, theatre & fashion capital of the world now, but Hong Kong is no.3, NYC no.2, 5 of the top 10 financial capitals of the world are English speaking.

  • Canada: "It's all about the hats" XD

  • i bet non of you americans knew that canada was once pure ice and snow

  • Your cartoon is wrong. The French in New Brunswick claim that Samuel Du Champlain was here first. So you'll have to change your cartoon dipicting him discovering the new world before the John Cabot, the Vikings and the Natives. Thats what Bilingualism is all about. French 1st or French only cause they were here first. It's law now don't you know. You silly englishman.

  • This is like 10% of canadas history....

  • Canada's history is so boring

  • @emeke96 Your mother was boring in bed.

  • @MajBlood FUCK OFF STOP TALKING TO ME I DON'T KNOW YOU

  • @emeke96 Serves you right for insulting Canadian history.

  • I don't think there is any evidence that the Skraelings the Vikings met were in fact the Beothuk.

  • Ah, white mans guilt...

  • funny...

  • they had no idea how valuable the land was??

fuck you the Canadian north remains untouched because "natives" are actually fucking protecting what is left of its resources.

  • @FluXez00 It's called sarcasm lmao

  • @YoYoYoYoYoYoYoYoYo36

    cool story bro

  • @YoYoYoYoYoYoYoYoYo36 born superior? no. and this whole we are the best or better than others menatlity is why there was slavery and racism. also canada can act like the best when they treat the native THE PEOPLE WHO WERE THERE FIRST with respect and atone for what they did to them instead of treating them like pest. :) yes very nationalistic but nationalistic about what? something beautiful that came from a history full of injustice. peace

  • Who cares

  • This was pretty much a history of my province, Newfoundland.

  • @Merc261 Yeh if you are retarded and you stop reading at Cabot.

  • You know you're on YouTube when theres a flamewar

  • Eh?

  • lol imagine what Canada and U.S would look like if Vikings ruled the continent instead of the British, french and large group of german immigrants.

  • Canada, is what happens, when you put France people, in zhe woods!

  • @monkey6321 french*

  • @lamecow21 It's supposed to be a French Canadian person saying it, I should have clarified that.

  • is there ever a point in history where europeans leave the natives alone in peace, i mean seriously!!!!!!

  • @MultiHollywoodYoutub There's not a single point in history where anyone leaves someone in peace.

  • @merlechmoose true. the struggle for survival and the eagerness to dominate others is a universal thing. it happens everywhere, even among the smallest life-forms like cells. but the difference between us and our animalistic ancestors is that we have the ability to think and reason with each other and what bothers me i guess is that we still act like animals amongst ourselves when we humans are a higher evolution of animals, but oh well i guess....but europeans didnt make it any better......

  • We can`t hear what they say !!!

  • @6472Francis yeah sorry that's my bad. The volume was a little low when i uploaded it. If you plug speakers into your computer or laptop you can hear it much much better.

  • Not at all accurate

  • The Canadians joined WWII on the very same day the British declared war on Germany. Their southern neighbours waited until Germany declared war on them over two years later. Well done to the brave and honourable Canadian people.

  • @truckerfromreno I don't know where you read about Canadian history, but we did not enter World War 2 at the same time as the British. We did so, about a week after the British did, by formally declaring war against Germany.

  • @truckerfromreno False idiot. And Canada only joined because Britain made them. And Canada didn't even do all that much so get off your high horse

  • That isnae the English flag, that's the Union Jack! Yous always get it wrang ffs!!! Makes me yearn for Scottish Independence even maer.

    Canada's pretty sound btw...

  • @StuScience Yes it is the Union you are correct. By 1606 all seagoing ships began using the Union Flag(even though the traditional St. Georges Cross continued as the national flag for years.) Hudson sailed to Canada in 1610. He probably did not run off his ship and stick a flag in the ground as pictured, but we used artistic licence. You'll notice that when John Cabot runs off his ship to claim Canada for England, years before, he is carrying the traditional St. George's Cross.

  • @StuScience scottish Idependece i though you and england where one nation that came togther because you wanted to to for britain ,/ UK am i wrong

  • @StuScience yes, but if and when Scotland does go independent you're probably going to start moaning about how worse off you are (as a nation I mean) you'd be amazed ho much public money from English taxpayers ends up in Scotland.

  • @StuScience That's because the language is english, the capital is english and the world doesn't understand the history of the uk and everyone makes assumptions from that.

But you shouldn't get frustrated over names........

  • love the beaver cap

  • This is basically how I think about all those explorers I learn about.

  • Atomic bombs, really? Canada???

  • @sinsmurderer Lol. We don't have our own, but we supply the US with most of the uranium and heavy water they need to make theirs.

  • @UWMike017 and britian :P

  • @sinsmurdererWe probably make them for the U.S.

  • this is insulting

  • Im from New Zealand.

we perceive canada as quite a nice country and in much higher regard to the USA

  • @10989745999 I think the world does. The USA is like the tough, arrogrant kid in the neighborhood, and Canada's like his sound brother.

Everyone wants to have a beer with Canada!

The USA makes everyone buy it beer :(

  • @10989745999 Thank you, we hold ourselves in much higher regard than the yanks too. lol

  • @ROTTIMAN31 Wannabe Brit

  • @vladradforpres5 British blood flows through my veins you jealous traitor, the only wanabee here is you yankee doodle

  • @ROTTIMAN31 haha traitor? Someone who fights for independence is a traitor? If that's a traitor i'd rather be one than a bitch

  • @vladradforpres5 you must have a pretty pathetic life if you have nothing better to do than troll Canadian vids on youtube. Grow up and get a life you jealous prick.

  • @ROTTIMAN31 You're the one jabbing back and forth with me, so why stoop down to my level? And obviously I won the argument since you decided to go into defensive mode and tell me to get a life. Jealousy is one feeling Americans will NEVER feel towards Canada. Now go get back to the wonderful life you have and I'll continue to troll Canadian vids because it's oh so fun arguing with you guys.

  • @vladradforpres5 France won independence for you Britain surrendered to the french at Cornwallis which resulted in the Treaty of paris that granted you your independence

Canada chose to stay loyal to the crown and it turned out better in the long terms

    Good government

    Healthcare system

    No corruption

    Guns are illegal

    No capital punishment

    Mis informative news readers

    etc

  • @DaleWF10 France won independence for us? What history books do you read? The French helped but they were MIA for much most of the war until the final Battle at Yorktown. (Cornwallis was a general not a place).

  • @vladradforpres5 Meant to but by Cornwallis and yeah America had lots of help from France and Britain left America in mutual terms because of bad public opinion back in England

And there was know profit to be made by being in America the attention was turned on to Asia

Britain would of desimated America if they focused all there attention on it hell in 1812 they burned down the white house and washington

  • @DaleWF10 No profit?. Yeah the Americans probably wouldn't have won the war if the Brits weren't also fighting against Spain and France. However, you have to give respect to the motley crew of Americans who fought off the best military in the world at the time. Yeah the War of 1812, which ended in a stalemate neither sides gaining anything, yet I hear you Canadians take credit for burning the white house down, which is completely false...

  • @weeblairnumber1 True, the St. George's Cross was the national flag of England, but by 1606 all seagoing ships ( that means big boats) began using the Union Jack. Hudson sailed around 1610 and they mutinied and left him behind in 1611. If you look closely you will notice that John Cabot who earlier claimed Canada for England is in fact flying the traditional St. George's Cross.

Don't worry, I won't hold your lack of research skills or manners against you.

  • wow

why was everyone looking for china back than?

  • @MegaPhoenixman

    spices and silk.

  • @MegaPhoenixman Because China and India had luxury goods that rich Europeans wanted. They wanted to bypass existing trade networks on the east side, so they went west.

  • @PoliticsStudent thx for telling me :D

    but how did they know???

  • @MegaPhoenixman How did they know China and India had cool stuff for sale? They'd been trading with them for years already but it's a long journey from Europe to asia on horse and camel so they were looking for an easier route. They didn't know for sure there would be one but they headed west anyway hoping it would bring them around. ..but then someone put this silly continent in their way. :)

  • @frogfeetproductions thx xDDD

    that explains everything :DDD

  • it good canada was named after a native launguage word cause the native kid or soomeone say to jacque cartier "i bring you to my KANATA" so he thinks that they country is this and its name though kanata is what to say villge

  • theres alot of truth in this lol

  • @SmashingJack420

don't be an idiot, the "ugly brick building" and the white house were the same the Americans just whitewashed it to hide the burns duhhhh I'm guessing u failed history

    go Canada! woot

  • WTF is with the accent? canadians arn't from texas.

and also, canadians are enviromentaly friendly cuz global warming is melting our igloos!!! what r we going to live in???

  • I miss good Canadian programming like this... Rick Green is a genius...

  • Jacques Cartier found Canada in 1534. Newfoundland has never been considered a part of Canada before late 1940's. The french tried to integrate it to the Canada governement of new-france but they lost interest in it really quick.

  • Almost all native American tribes had a concept of land ownership.

  • If you look at Canadian history in on international scale, you can see that Canada doesnt really do much until the 1900's

  • @SmashingJack420 The USA on international scale did nothing until 1917.

Canada army burned down the white house two times by the way.

  • @ManOWar2Red Not exactly, the Canadian army burnt down the ugly brick building and the US replaced it with the white house. Also, did you forget about the barbary wars, the spanish-american war, the boxer rebellion, and the banana wars? The US was involved in those international affairs LONG before 1917.

  • @SmashingJack420 420 in your name says it all.. please dont invlove yourself in discussinos

  • @ManOWar2Red Idiot your facts are wrong. And sweet story Bro! we're still a superpower, Canada is what?

  • @SmashingJack420 If you look at nearly ANY countries history, internationally a massive number of them haven't done anything since the world wasn't as... connected? as it is today, Ex : You can go from New York to London tomorrow if you want to.

If you mean that not a lot has happened since before the 1900's, that's also wrong : There was the war with the states, the change of empires and of territory, the revolutions in the 1800's. Plenty more I won't bother writing about...

  • I'm hoping this video isn't correct...lol

  • History is so interesting! but Canadian history sucks. I live in Canada and find European, and American history so interesting, but we never learn it! All we hear about is " and then Henry Hudson did this, and then Samuel de Champlain did this, and then Jean Cabot did this, and then Tecumseh....." you see how boring that is. I wish we would learn something interesting.

  • @xenomann442 then learn canada history in a french-canadian class. much more explored. Because english canadians think that Canada history start in 1867.

  • @xenomann442 boring to you, but not to me

  • Hey guys visit this great blog to learn about interesting events from history for everyday of the year:

  • The beaver part made me rofl so hard.

  • i find this video to be rasast

  • yeah man i feel those beavers should be able to vote too!

  • yea most canadian know this....i hope

  • wth D: that didnt teach me anything D:

  • Was it supposed to?

  • cool beaver hats ^^

  • OMG! Was that a Bricklin car that drove by at 0:03? I forgot about those cars and their Canadian history!

  • Yes. Yes indeed it was. Good eyes!

  • hahaha. funny video. Very true though. Nobody knew their way around Canada. :P

  • Yep. Our land is too huge and too cold, lol. O well!

  • And the population of First Nations people was decimated. Detail.

  • cabot discoverd Newfoundland for England.not canada..FREE NL!!!

  • FROM WHITE SETTLERS! Native Pride!!!

  • No offense, but wouldn't you rather be speaking of native pride if you actually lived like one?

  • @nat4053

Cabot was very late, Cabot, 'discovered' Newfoundland in 1497 of North America is commonly held to be the first European voyage to the continent since Norseman Leif Ericson's landing in c.1003.

  • @VikingfaceNOR south and north america are not distinct continent. Therefore Christophe Colombus came 5 years before.

First european to land in Canada thought was Jacques Cartier in 1534, Newfoundland was never considered a part of Canada until late 1940's if I'm good.

  • @ManOWar2Red 1949 but it doesnt matter.. he still discovered newfoundland way before.. stop being a noob

  • @ManOWar2Red

What do you mean not distinct continent? And It doesn't matter if its called Canada, Newfoundland or Vinland. Its still the same continent..

  • That made no sense at all. learn to talk and spell and learn some grammar

  • i love Brief :-P

  • No, I disagree. Being a Canadian, I beleive that we are entirly different from the U.S. And we Candians are utilising our resources without maxing them out. How else could we have held up so well in this economic recession? Why shouldn't the U.S. becme part of Canada? And what stability do you have? In this recession, the U.S. has been hit very badly. I find this remark disturbing, and in all seriousness, a whole nation will back me up.

  • Heya. ^^ A proud American here agreeing with you.

There is no reason Canada should be a part of the U.S. at all.

The remark is disturbing. And everyone with brains backs us up on that fact.

  • @LuckyClover678 Actually the average Canadian requires half an acre more to sustain themselves in a year compared to the average American. That's a fact, not an opinion. (2008)

  • @LuckyClover678 you realize that newfoundland was poor for so long because we overfished their waters. and quebec almost wiped out its forests completely by cutting them all down, every sappling.

Our great lakes are toxic now because of cargo ship traffic.

And we are constantly going further north and exploiting the lands that are SUPPOSED to belong to our native 'friends'?

Open your eyes my friend. Canada may not be as bad as the US, but we certainly aren't easy on our resources.

  • @MandaPandization in our defense the US has a vast population and our economy relies on things like wood and oil. the reason you economy is holding up is because of that fact. you guys have a lot of wood. no pun intended.

  • @LuckyClover678 The Us become apart of Canada no you may have some resource over their but we have The military that protects you Usa always bounce back Dont worry where not going anywhere canada Pal.

  • @LuckyClover678 hahaha I am American I back you up pal. Anyone who thinks we are the same is a fuckin moron. I have Canadian friends and although when they hangout with us you cant tell they are anything but harddrinking wildmen, like the rest of my friends, but its when you see the countrys satirifal differences that you realize, just cause we are both prodominatly white nations and on the same continent DOESNT MEAN SHIT..... i cant wait to leave this ignorant country of mine...

  • @PissDrunkMonk666 Leave fagit

  • Oh, and another thing, we were never together, Separate countries, and we will stay that way.

  • amen.

  • wow ive never seen american imperialism at a greater comment than this

  • Haha, nice.

  • wow this is funny

  • thanks

  • ROFL i wish they taught this in school :)

  • lol i actually find this easier than sitting through a history lesson.

if only we had an overhead projector that could project cute little beavers =P

  • USA has the most crimanals and Racial issues. So research your information before you open your stupid mouth.

  • speaking as an american (not by choice)

    much agreed with that Tobiwarrior6

  • Thank you, but not all Americans are crimanals or racist. I thank you american.

  • Cars and atomic bombs!

  • lol. that was funny although Cabit is known by the english version of his name because he sailed for brtiain cuz the italians didnt want him... not because it's "easier to pronounce"

  • heh heh heh well it's easier to pronounce to his English employers!

  • @frogfeetproductions

    He was well paid ;)

  • @tylermanchesteruntd

    It's John Cabot, not Cabit.

  • what is canada's zip code? please tell me because we just migrate here in canada and i really dont know what's canada's zip code is

    please reply ty

  • the format for canadas Zip codes is

    L#L #L# for example G3F 2S5

  • you're kidding right?

we don't have zip codes, we have postal codes, and we have more than one

  • its 90210

  • @rUkiAxXxsAkuRa How did you get into Canada? Seriously, if immigrating to Canada required an IQ test, I doubt you would pass it.

  • Ya thats pretty much it..

  • haha. basicly all of grade 6 and 7

  • If both the US and Canada are both capitalist then how do they differ?

  • Most countries in the modern world are capitalist but there is more to their cultures than merely a similar economic engine I think. It's those little idiosyncrasies that make everyone unique and different. Canada and the U.S. are very similar in many respects. They have a shared History they have similar origins but events in their histories have shaped them differently in subtle ways.

  • Thank You, I'm currently in the process of learning more about Canada!

  • Just the fact that Canada was French for 250 years make a HUGE difference.

  • @ManOWar2Red

Canada hasn't even been a country for 250 years.

  • @Jmonstra Canada exist as a political entity since the 1600's but was named Canada a bit before actually.

As soon as 1608 the area surrounding Québec city was named Canada.

Yes it exist since a long time. The Confederation of Canada of 1867 is just a reorganization of what was already a country named Canada.

If you're not aware of this then you fail your history I guess ?

  • I'm inclined to disagree.

Canada, as the unified nation that it is today, has only existed for 143 years. Before that it was New France and smaller English colonies, before that it was a Viking colony called Vinland. Obviously that's the abridged version with details omitted but Canada didn't come into being as a political entity until post-WWI, since until 1931 it was still considered a British Colony. Granted it was largely autonomous before that point, but it was still subservient to England

  • @ManOWar2Red Holy f*ck so much failure T_T

-Canada was a political entity, meaning it can make it's own decisions without England interfering, starting AFTER WWI, and the name (Dominion of) Canada came in 1867.

-1608 was the founding of Quebec?? WTF are you talking about that the area around it was known as Canada? It was still New France.

-It was not a reorganization, it was a UNIFICATION of many different provinces, then eventually they started taking territory to the west to get it b4 the US.

  • just wikipedia Canada new france in the worse case.

  • @Jmonstra neither has America

  • "They have a shared History they have similar origins"... uhhhh No... Americans declared Independance and fought a war over it..... Us Canadianswere the only country in the history of the world to ask for our independance nicely

  • @Saddler1234 We fought the Brits for our independence. You guys were Englands bitch in other words

  • Canada is basically how America would have turned out without the South and more love of British things.

  • canada is socialist

  • of hush fool

  • I'm canadian, and this is basically how it went.

  • BUT BRITIAN WON WOOOOOO,

  • yup lol it was brief but interesting.

  • this is very clever

  • Thanks! It was fun to do.

  • this took my teacher 1 week 2 explain lol

  • ha ha yeah this felt like a revision of my entire 8th grade year compacted into a couple of minutes! I would totally ace that test now! :)
