Ever considered a wireless HD tansmitter/receiver? The only problem with it is that you'll need a visual line between receiver and transmitter. Now I want to combine the wireless HD with an HDMI switch so I can transmit directv/ps3/fta receiver to another tv set :)
Enjoyed the video! I'd also really love to say that I enjoy using the HDMI Splitter for a TOTALLY different reason (though I find your use quite intriguing and may apply it). But I LOVE using the dual HDMI output for the SAME ROOM, especially for us nerdy video Gamers! (ex: Madden11). The way these games play (not split screen), you can play your friend, in your room, each with your own beautiful TV &/OR Monitor. Even 4 TV/Movies (for Viewing angles). Just keep HDMI wires short & 1.3 HDMI

1. is the video quality same in both split videos ? and can both be played together (as in at the same time) ?
2. How about the audio ? in my orginal hdmi cable i have a signal of 7.1 surround sound ... now after inputting this orignal hdmi (carrying Hi - DEF - VIdeo / Audio) into the splitter .. would i get same 7.1 surround sound in both the places ?
If the answer is yes .. can you please suggest some good brands for buying the HDMI SPLITTER . Thanks
the only problem with this setup is that if someone wanted to watch one thing upstairs and someone else wanted to watch something different downstairs, there would be an all out war.
@LimitedWard I would put my money on it that this guy's setup is very advanced (as it appears) and most likely has a Blu-Ray+DVR Reciever (and 50+" flat screens mounted), and could switch from HDMI 1 input to HDMI 2 input (say 1 is upstairs DVR while 2 is the DVR downstairs) and "Wallah" (not a word? hah). But you are right, as it seems he complains of the dual dvr setup as being not user friendly, it could be problematic if you are watching downstairs and the roomie/GF is upstairs watching.
This set up will not work if two people want to watch different programs at once. Effectively, you have limited so that you can not view two different shows at once. Great if you're a bachelor, but impractical with family who wants to view different programs on different TVs at the same time.
hi, I have a question for you. I happen to have 2 projectors, I was hoping to get 3D images playing both projectors together, do you think if I use a hdmi splitter I would be able to get 2 images side by side and with a pais of 3d glasses would work? Will I have a 3D image? Thanks.
@bunozen1 it would not work. 3D is not shown with 2 identical pictures side by side. you have to direct each pixel to the correct eye (red/blue) in order to make it work.
Man this HDMI splitting is HELL, passive won't work and even powered splitters are a hit and miss. I can find NOTHING locally, even in a huge city like mine (Montreal) What the hell. I can't risk ordering a splitter worth 200$+ that might not work! :(
I finally got a recevier with 3 way HDMI in put and 4 component inputs. But I still need an hdmi splitter, because I only have one out on the receiver... I found this cheap one that is basically a Y cable (works badly) from reviews i read all around the web... and the other HDMI splitters seem very expensive, what's the cheapest I could get IYO? thanks good sir.
mmm.. thanks you had some info that is valuable to me. What I would need is a 2 way Output HDMI switch with 4 way Input. So I can feed my TV and Projector from my PS3, HDTV, PC and Wii. There is hope it seems.
So basically, an HDMI splitter just copys the same image from one monitor/tv to the other? i've been looking to get one for my 2nd comp. monitor
