The technique Kenshiro used against Souther wasn't Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken. It was Hokuto Ujo Mosho Ha.

Not really. They were both adapted into anime form by Toei Animation, but they were written and drawn by different people.

Hokuto No Ken was created by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara, whereas Dragon Ball (and DBZ) was created by Akira Toriyama.

After reading the Hokuto no Ken Manga, I'd say that ALL Toei did was animate it, as the vast majority of the scenes in the anime are taken directly from the Manga.

@Vladislak you're right, at the time I wrote this I hadn't watched and done extensive research on the Hokuto no Ken series. This is by far the best series ever. I want to see more sequels/movies.......Kenshiro is the man. I also want to see a sequel to the Souten no Ken anime.

@barak219 Hokuto shin ken is the physiological eqvivalent of hacking. Kenshiro COULD kill most anyone he encounters, but he preffers to have some karmic quality to it so he adds a few things depending on the peron already dead. Like dying in your preciuos tank, suicide by bridging until your spine snapps or have a few secounds to realize how f@cked you are/were.

Notice that its not the blood presure thats making the heads explode but its the ki/chi(steam or pressure), when ken is punching with spiritual energi his ki goes inside the body and builds up as pressure and gathers at one point and acts as a grenade,the reason for this is that in the Hokuto no ken movie 1986 the anime wasnt censored but there was still some white stuff and it made clear that was chi/ki.
