I'm confused? Are you in the North or the South? I assume South?
I was vids about the north ( god I hate commies ) then I came across you vid ..
Anyway ,, i think it's brave that you'd go live in Korea without knowing the language etc. (either sides .. although if you live in the North you're a LOT braver then I even thought)

FUCK OFF TO AMERICA U IGNORANT SHIT, IF YOU CAN'T GET PAST THE GROCERY STORE PRODUCTS BEING DIFFERENT THAN YOU JUST FAIL, GAME OVER BITCH, GAME FUCKING OVER
@Esthezyl I made this video about a week after I moved to Seoul. Everything was overwhelming then, I was dealing with jet lag, but wanted to remember exactly how I felt as I was going through it. I lived there for a year and if you watched any of the videos that I made later on in the year, I discovered many things to love about Korea.
@melindamerola Really? I didn't watch the other videos because of this one, but now I think that I will. It is good to see that you could open your heart to this very different country. I've been living in Japan for 12 years now and I still do. I think I could adapt myself to any other country now. Such experience make you grow a lot, don't you think? Cheers!
Nice! Japan has the same kinds of things. (Xylitol, that type of bread, and the prepackaged coffee). I had no idea how similar Japan and Korea were. Seoul's pretty awesome though, only been there once, but it kind of reminds me of Tokyo!
My wife and I were in Seoul many years ago... but mostly in Tongduchon on the DMZ as short term missionaries. Wow, what an experience. It was a hard but memorable time. God bless you.
@rtPoppy I think you put it well. Living in Korea as a foreigner wasn't the easiest experience of my life, but I look back with so many fond memories. :)
Xylitol is simply the sugar used to sweeten the gum. It's an alcohol sugar and is used in trident! Apparently, oral bacteria do not thrive very well in the presence of xylitol... If that helps.
when i went to korea 2 years ago, omg, the food there is sooo cheap! all the restraunts were cheap like hell, im serious.
my suggestion to anyone going to korea or any other asian country if its business or for fun, id do research on the foods, etc. im part korean, so any korean food id would eat
Melinda, The exchange rate has changed quite a bit. I heard you say $4 is about 4000won. It used to be roughly $10=13000won. This was about 15 years ago.
Looks like you have alot of 'Seoul' food, as it were! Just wanted to add that a smile and eye to eye contact is your best 'passport' in the supermarket. Actually, it's your best passport anywhere, I think.
@kojinmalia I've studied the alphabet a little. I can fumble my way through some words, but nothing close to reading. The biggest problem is not knowing any Korean vocab. However, the Konglish makes it easier sometimes! :)
What a pretty face.. You should learn the korean alphabet, it takes only few hours (maybe even one is enough..) to get and then just pratice, so many korean words are in fact just had transformation from english (for example orange is 오렌지 (orenji, oranji.. or whatever like that) also having a dictionnary/translator will be necessary (after learning alphabet).
@seouliteguy Thanks for the Xylitol info. Good to know it's better for my teeth than sugar. Still can't get used to the gum over here though. Loses its flavor so quickly.
Xylitol's a kind of sugar. It's lot more expensive than sugar. It has half calrories when compared to the same quantity of sugar and it does not promote dental cavities. Also it's not as bad as aspartam that's widely used in sugar free gums and lighter pops. Xylitol's the best sweetner for your health. In north America, Xyletol product is hard to find since it's more expensive than sugar and aspartam.
melindamerola...
so are you back from Korea and rested?
what's your next cultural adventure?
Blessings!

your husband went there and you tagged along or something maybe?
This was not really explained I think in your video unless i missed something.

@203207ab I went to Korea on my own. I wanted to teach English overseas somewhere and Korea happened to be the easiest option with the best pay.
