I love both versions of the Office, but the UK version is on a different level. For one, David Brent. Michael Scott was funny but just super wacky. David Brent's personality is just so well done, he is a lot more realistic character too.

Not only does McKenzie Crook do the only convincing Bristol accent I've ever heard from a non-Bristolian actor but Gareth's character is rather typical of a certain type of Bristolian who makes you a bit embarrassed to admit you're from Bristol! But there's no mention of where he's from in the series. Apparently, during rehearsals for the show he was asked to use Stephen Merchant's accent for the role.
