this was a great vid for me. i work in la and im dying to learn this balding fade techinique for my clients and husband. just one question, does the kind of clipper matter to create that kind of fade?
I want to get a haircut like this but I am afraid they will screw it up, I usually just go to Great Clips or that type of place, is it better to go to a real barber or is this something anyone who cuts hair can do?
nice video im learning how to cut hair but the girl that is teaching me doesnt cut as good as you but im truying my best to learn i have 1 month and i can do the normal fades nice tutorial video
Al, love the video man. I go to school with some guys who attended your instructional class in Chattanooga, TN and heard nothing but good stuff man! I'm gonna watch your videos and I thank you for sharing what you do with us future barbers on youtube. Much love.
nice fade for real , its looking good , i was shown to do fades from the largest number all the way down to 0 , saves moer time and i find you keep a better control of what your doing , im just saying !
No offense but I wouldve had that lineout in 5 min it took too long and there were heavy dark lines uptop by crown area....u shouldve jus the masters the fade thru...I like the 76rs but not for fading
Passed my written exam a couple of months ago, going for my practical next month...my question is... do you think its possible to complete a bald fade with only the 76's or should you always incorperate your Andis Masters?(nice job by the way)
I was just reading the comments and seen where you happened to get into a dialogue with Epic the barber. I seen your comments and I was just wondering what Epic the barber said to you that caused you to say what you said sir.. If you removed it then I understand.
Man I love the videos for real folkz...I watched them and for real already started doin fades from my home mayne.Much Love and resepct for showin us game mayne...not alot of people will do that. Now my question is this....I want to buy a cool set of clippers and attachments that wont break the bank what would you suggest that would be under 100.

Thanks for the help. I am currently in Barber School in Flint, MI. They've given us the Andis Styliners and the Andis Masters. When doing a bald fade I cut the bottom half instead of the way most barbers do it. I'm having problems getting the line out though. Using the Styliners won't mess it up?
I always knew how to do a bald fade but after watching your videos, it only helped further educate and guide me through and build on what I already kind of new... I enjoy the atomosphere at the barger shop and how I feel when I leave it but when times are tough and you wanna look clean and still get the pro results, man, you gotta do what you gotta do and I am sporting a bad ass fade, thanks for the tips!
@EpicTheBarber Lazy? I've given away more than any other barber out here. I'm not about to take him step by step over the internet (That wasn't his only question). Why don't you contact him and show him the ropes since you're so energic and know so much.
nice work man. i tip my hat off. is that 1/32 guard on the masters an andis guard? whats the best guard for the 1/32 because the red ones always break. and where can i get them online? let me know. thanx in advance.
what fraction is the #1 considered, like is it a 1/32 or 1/16 something like that, and what is a #2 considered and what does 0A or something like that
I love fade haircuts but as I grow older I'm thinning out on my forehead so this haircut isn't going to help me cover it. Plus my hair is wavy so, what I do is get a fade and on top cut with scissors.
Andis Master, Andis "T" Outliner and The Oster 76 with #2, 1.5 and 1A blades. Or the cheaper way. Just buy Speed-O guards (The whole set) for the Andis Master and don't worry about the Oster 76 now,
i lke ur stlye thanks for taking the time to show all 3 steps on ur work i am currently attending beauty school of america.i am goin to try ur technique cuz i had a problem with the second line but watching i am going to try the way u did i wrote them down by steps.if u could give pointers it would be greatly appericated.thanks.i get nervious.
i wish we had a barber like this in my area; all we got are those SuperCuts white barbers that can't fade for shit; trust me i tried many of them LOL!
in college i went to a black barbershop and had the best fades of my life (no racist)
I must say that I've seen a lot of barbers and everyone is different. The way you make the two line's is just a good way in order to work in a minimal amount of space, not going over or to high when blending. It seems just by watching whenever you reach that top line, its much easier to blend in. Thanks Al, best wishes and happy holidays!
My nigga. I have got to hand it to you. Your bald fade videos are excellent and they have taught me a whole lot. Now I'm able to complete a perfect bald fade on myself and the bitches love my new style.
Is it just the blade that matters? From what I found, the trimmers that are favored for line ups have a 1/150 blade on them ( like the M3 and Outliners). The ones for everything else have a 1/125 blade.
you said that you need two different trimmers....one for outlining and one for kids/necks. Do you just buy 2 Andis T-Outliners and put different blades on them or do you buy 2 different trimmers. If you buy two different trimmers, what do you like? Whats the best for outlining to get super close and have crisp lines?
The Andis M3 or Styliner ll are both good trimmers for sharp line ups. The wahls Detailer is also a good work horse and can be used on adults and kids.
Hey Al this fade is on point.I have the Oster Fast Feed but I can never get the line out of the fade like you did in this vid..Is it the clipper or is it something im not doing?
You might need to adjust your clipper to cut closer. Unscrew the 2 screws and adjust your blades so that inner blade is a little lower than the outer blade. Or half the thickness of your fingernail. Tighten the screws and you should be able to remove your lines. Also you can use your liner to help you remove the line by brushing lightly over it.
What type of 1/32 gaurd did you use. Im trying to find one and the only one i can find is the speed o guard one. Ive gone through 2 of those in the last 3 months. Your videos are and cuts are tight!
It comes in the Andis clipper guard kit. Sometimes you can find them by themselves. They are thin and black, almost flat and they only fit the Andis Master. Sometimes you have to adjust by hand or plyers so they stay on better. I always hold the back of mine to make sure it doesn't pop off.
