Wish everyone would stop bumming Autre Temps and listen to this track - definetly my favourite off the album. Beautiful combination of melodic and heavy vocals!
When those black metal vocals fade in and out, accompanied by that lovely melody, only to be followed by the vocal's melody on the guitar along with some proper black metal shrieking... truly goosebump-inducing. A special sound only Alcest is capable of doing.
The opening riff of this song gives me that special feeling of wanting to dry my tears, to shake the dirt off of my shoulders, and to rise back to my feet. To go an extra inch. To give it one more go. To fight challenges in life until the very last breath.
I know Alcest's music is suppossed to feel distant and nostalgic, but all I hear is hope.
Holy shit. I just went into a CD store in Brunswick Maine for the fuck of it, and they had THREE Alcest albums. Iabout shit my pants. It cost me $49.00 but I got em. :)
@Obsidus I'm just listening to The Blue and reminiscing the time those guys were releasing an album every two years.I think Aspera should be mentiond also,to me it's the best Arcturus along with La Masquerade and one of the best albums ever made.
@SkogFe I love Novembre, I'm glad they're finally getting back into the studio. I liked Aspera, I think it is very good Black Metal, I just don't think it is as unique and fleshed out as their later albums.
This is one of those bands. You'll only find 2-3 of the in your whole life, no matter how much you listen to music. I just discovered this today, and I haven't felt this way for music since the first time I heard Opeth and Arcturus, over 10 years ago. Life is so wonderful sometimes.
@FlameWing92 In order: 1.) The Sham Mirrors 2.) Sideshow Symphonies 3.) La Masquerade Infernale. The band is Avant Garde/ Black Metal, it isn't dreamy and soft and beautiful like this; but the songs are amazing and unique.
@Obsidus Thank you very much. Will do. I don't know if you did or not, but check out Agalloch's "The mantle" , it just came to my mind to recommend you that one.
@FlameWing92 I just read your second response and I'm sorry for not seeing it earlier. So.. I did, I listened to them. Agalloch is my #1 on Last fm :)
@FlameWing92 Also if you haven't heard them I suggest you listen to Agalloch (Pale Folklore and The Mantle are the best) and Novembre. Novembre is very similar to this, just harsher. The clean singing is VERY similar.
@d6a6r6kness yes, i know. it's epic ! Although, being both alcest and drudkh fan, it doesn't bring anything new to the table, but hey - there's not much stuff like that so I'll gladly listen to it :D
aucun mot peut dire ce que je sent dans cette chanson. leur nouvelle album est vraiment de l'art (et les précédents aussi bien sur)j'adore le contrast dans leur musique.
The end parts 7:21 onwards remind me a lot of Wicked Game by Chris Isaak anyone else agree? In fact i'm pretty sure it's the same chord progression. P.S. Don't get me wrong I love this track and Alcest
oh my god! its sooooooooo Justin Bieber new album ripoff! Cant they record something by themself? Im so dissapointed! Every band is ripping off from JB nowardays... its so sad.
Excellent track. Good to see the harsh vocals back. I was a little worried that all the songs would be like Autre Temps (not bad, just a little too straightforward in structure), but this is awesome. I'm so buying this rigth now
