im looking for a fuel tank for a 1950 coronet so far no luck a guy at a bone yard said i should try one from a jeep or a ford bronco what does anyone think
PART 2: well anyway....I never forgot this....it was just so weird. She was in a 49 dodge...actually a 2 door, she was very well spoken and mentally "with it", dressed in beautiful vintage cloths and a mink coat no less. I figure she (1) either has a ton of money....or....she used to have a ton of money....you just can't tell. Eventually someone came to tow the car and give her a ride, but....I never forgot this and always wondered what the story was on her.
it was a bone chilling cold night in 1980?. I saw a "mint", jet black, 1949 dodge on the side of a minor highway near my house in Newton, Massachusetts. I could see that someone was in it. I pulled up behind, walked to it and yelled "need any help?"....a woman at least 80 years old opened the passenger door and motioned me to come in. The car had died on her....but the weird thing was....she was "very" well dressed in cloths from probably the 1940s....She was in a mink coat to boot.......
Sweet little two-door! Looks original. Couldn't make out the emblem on the side. Is that a Gyro-Matic? (AKA clunkshift) That was one strong tranny with three speeds, first to second or second to third, depending which position the driver placed the shift lever. Fluid coupling (torque converter) with a clutch pedal, used only when selecting a gear range. Mine was a fifty-two of the same body design.
@tonysqqkq actually, the M6 has two gear ranges, high and low, with an underdrive and a direct drive in each range. Gear possibilities are 1> low-low 2> low-high 3> high-low 4> high-high. If you start moving in low range and shift to high range, you will skip the underdrive of the high range. It will seem like there is only one gear in the high range unless you floor it to engage the underdrive.
No lie. I wrecked mine a while back. Put it THROUGH a guard rail. Pulled 3 sixfoot i-beam posts set in concrete out of the ground. Only put a small bend in the stainless grille! Scared the hell out of me though to be honest.
