Nice ride! This just proves on a track a 600 can with the right rider beat 1000's. I was looking at an r1 until I rode an r6 and an r1 on the track. I got the r6 instead.
Is it a common thing for this year R6 to catch so many false neutrals? I'm considering this bike as a replacement for my gsxr 750 k1 for this very reason that gsxr suffer from this bloody false neutrals.
Thats a stupid comparison because you put a good rider on a 600 and he will beat a 1000. Simple as that, its 90% rider at this stage! Put the bikes in a straight like 0-100 and easily the 1000 will win. Round the track its different, corner speeds, entry speeds and exit speeds make up for the bike.

Not really due to the slipper clutch. when alot of force is applied to the transmission like downshifting does the clutch engages the slightest bit to ensure a smooth transition between gears and to avoid wheel hopping in the rear. just about all two wheel street motorcycles have a slipper clutch, otherwise if you downshifted hard into a corner your garunteed to wreck on a streetbike anyways
@animeonperseest actually on the r6 that isnt true....its made that once you hit neutral or decelerating still open throttle, you can downshift without the clutch, thus avoiding the wieght shift and sudden wheel jerk associated with downshifting at very high rpms, i have an r6 and i do it all the time

Myself on a gixxer 6, i have passed many thosands, R1, zx10 gsxr 1000. That being said i have been spanked by an sv 650! So just goes to show rider skill not bike is what matters!!

I think it was a false neutral it happened at 4:07 too. However at 7:11 he had to brake hard so when he kicked back into gear it locked up the rear tire.
on a track with longer straights and less turns the bigger bike would have the advantage but on a track like this, the lighter bike has the upper hand.

To answer your question about which is better, it really depends on what you mean. A new R1 will do the quarter in roughly 9 and half seconds, the new r6 will do it in roughly 10 and half, which if you push either one to the limit on public roads you will probably kill yourself. get the 6, and if you havent crashed it and are bored with it get the 1000.
my first sport bike was an r6 4years ago. i loved it and i learned alot...u really shouldn't buy a liter bike as ur first sportbike or u'll hurt urself...
The agility of the new 600's and 1000's are almost identical. The only way a 1000 will dominate a 600 is on the straights not corners. And to even mention a 750 is just splitting hairs. You give the same guy a 1000 and 600 and put him on the same curvy track, I bet he posts close to the same times. There is only a half a second to a second difference between them in the quarter.
Yeah, you can here the 600 is really reving th heck out of his bike, and the 1000 is short shifting. I agree with Atlepowered, the GSXR750 wouldve been a nice bike to have in this race. Both guys ride well, and both bikes haul ass!
Here's the bottom line line, with you riding skill you need the Gsxr-750. Plenty of pulling power and torque for passing. Also a lot of less gear changing, with the agility of of a 600cc bike. Please convert and get the best all-around bike on the planet Gsxr-750.
Both riders rode very well. Quit saying gsxr 1000's suck. Any Japenese liter bike is sick, whether it is an R1, Gsxr 1000, ZX-10r, or CBR 1000. The gsxr is not gonna be any better in the corners and there was not long enough straight aways for him to pull that far ahead. So I wouldn't say the guy on the R6 is so much better, put them both on 600's and both on 1000's and then talk shit. You guys crack me up.
In this video the Gsxr saved a bad race for its motor because at the same conditions, with the same bikes, the R6´s rider, in the first corner, leave Gsxr´s rider, he was better

PS what happened at 7:12?? I would like to know. Also what year is you R6? I heard that some were recalled in 99 because of seizing internals "causing the rear wheel to lock resalting in the loss of control of the motorcycle" !!!

Accidentally downshifted too many gears and locked up the rear. Fair old brown trouser moment when you're tipping it into a corner.
