2 TBSP white vinegar, in 1-Gal of water (just 2 TBSP ... not one drop more ! ) ...
Submerse the rabbit (chicken, squirrel, etc) meat in that solution and allow it to marinate for at least 8 hours ... up to 24 hours (not more). This simple prep will take much of the gamey funk taste out of the meat and will also tenderize it, a good bit. Remember, more than one TBSP ... NOT more than two. about 1.5 is perfect.

Fair play to these kids knowing and appreciating where and how we get our meat and actually getting their hands dirty, how many obese kids sit in McDonald's stuffing their lard asses without even knowing where their food came from????
@phoenix1916 Damn straight! It may cause alot of grief, but it's appreciated more after you've made the kill yourself. There's love in this as opposed to this commercial meat and butchery.
Just to add another perspective about wild hunted rabbits vs. tame, raised rabbits, is that the majority of the meat that humans consume is domesticated, and that you can indeed walk right up to it. While I myself am a consumer of ranched meat, I agree that more meat should come from hunted sources... or at least free range. The meat would not only be leaner and healthier, but the animals would have a better quality of life beforehand as well. And thumbs up to the kids involved here!
WTF!!!! you used store bought rabbits???? Set traps and learn several skills at once.!!! All these kids learned was how to bludgeon a rabbit with a stick. *shakes head and rolls eyes*
looks like a bunch of rich kids who will always have money to pay someone else to find their food, shelter, and do really everything for them anyways. you should have to learn to hunt, build shelter, and wipe their own ass, . this world is so screwed up!
its usuaully not a good idea to pet the animal you plan on eating shortly there after.. pussies.
they do this for the enlightened experience.. spend a weekend with me ill enlighten you.. and it wont be by whackin tamed rabbits in the head with a stick.
I find the killing the hardest part. Once its dead, it becomes just a task you have to perform and my mind is busy analyzing what to do next (skinning & processing meat).
utmost respect??? That's odd. I have yet to slaughter my own food but intend to at some point soon for health reasons. They don't need, nor want to die. It's not supposed to be pleasant, and we pay a premium in the supermarket so others have to deal with this fact...next time show the full event(and maybe a bad one too) and perhaps you'll create a few vegetarians. It'll unburden the health system anyway... but generally, good for you for facing reality in a way.
you all shit guys. actually not guy gays coz u all fucked from ur ass hole. i cannt beliefe the bitchie girl that can do this. maybe she is actually a devil but look like human who knows.
Okay...here's the thing...the idea of the program, I have no problem...but your not hunting...the rabbits was not wild...I guess, I have a problem with this cause you didn't hunt the rabbits. No Offense guys..but your suppose to be teaching...see what I'm saying ???
I hunt and have taken several animals. I also raised 3 sheep in 4-H for meat. I'd rather hunt than farm. Its to easy to become attached to the animal. The best thing you can do (for yourself and the animal) is to take good care of it, but never treat it like a pet or play with it (let it play with others of its species). If your like most people it'll hurt to see the animal go either way. That said I don't feel bad for selling the sheep. Its just harder than killing an animal you don't know.
nice vid. I don't think u should pet the rabbit and bond with it. We use a 1/2'' steel bar to knock them in the head, then chop the heads off before we hang 'em up to skin em. never tanned the hides cuz i didn't know how to go about it but dang good eating. Butchering is not a pleasant task, but it's important to know where your food comes from and how to do it yourself if you have to. Thanks again for the video.
Ok why did they use old pet rabbits? The best rabbits are wild and 3/4 grown. Why did they hit it over the head possibly bruising the meat when you can just break their neck?
Having said that, I know feel like roast rabbit. Hmmmm
i agree with Spucen 08, probably not the best thing to let them pet it and get attacthed, but i still think its a great program, and the girl is really cute =]
Sadly, this reminds me of those places that actually skin animals alive for their fur... can you imagine how painful that must be? I thought of this because I know this seems obvious, but it just occurred to me that it's really, really important to make sure the animal is dead before you skin it and not just out cold.
So did you trap the rabbit? They seemed way too tame for that, they looked bought to me, How does that teach them anything? Please explain? I do think it is awesome, that you guys are doing this though!!
I am going to do this program in one month and i believe that tit will give me the skills that i need to use to get of the grid and live independently.
it kinda irritated me when se was smiling when she said "we killed the rabbid".it is a very normal think to kill animals(to eat not for fun) actually I've done it myself too and skinned it but I wasnt smiling or not trying to help Loughing.I dont know about you but it really irritated me.
@ShivSilverhawk Rabbit fur is soft and feels nice, but I think for these kids petting the rabbit was similar to the native american response to killing an animal for food or clothing. It was/is considered rude to not thank the animal for the sacrifice it is making for you. Don't always read negative things into this type of video. This is a first for most if not all of these kids and their responses will vary from petting the rabbit to throwing up. Don't know until you're there yourself...
When you can go to the supermarket and buy meat, why kill the rabbit? survival? Nope! you are bored with your life and want to do something twisted. Admit it. You just picked animal who can't talk and resist. So, bitch stop saying it was hard because you are the one who kills it for fun. Psycho american teens. Go to hell.
No, they did it so they could connect WHERE food comes from. You stick to your burgers that don't look anything like the cow that died for your dinner.
It's called spirituality, and being connected to this planet, not just existing on it.
Yeah! Instead of getting blood on your hands, go to the supermarket and get plastic wrapped meat that doesn't resemble the creature it came from! That way you will never have to know what goes in to eating meat!
Actually, I think everyone who eats meat should at least butcher a chicken or rabbit once in their lives.
Agreed dude. I think I made almost the exact same comment like....12 pages back. Haha.
Even gutting a fish gives you some perspective. You have ended a life to sustain your own. Show respect for the life you ended and you'll never go wrong.
i dont agree, we live in a modern society where everyone has his/her owen role and becomes a different part of the society, whilst we share the result of our work with everyone else.
its not logical to require people experience killing only because they eat meat, thats the butcher's job, just like you wont ask everyone to make their own film to be qualified to go to cinema.
Obviously if something terrible was to happen & we were to somehow revert back to our primal instincts (or survival mode), you would be the first to die because of your STUPIDITY.
It's people like you who think that "modern society" can never collapse & that we can rely our the everyday lives but if something was to happen & you didn't have the skills to be able to survive, you'll be helpless & society may not always be there for you.
now that is a legitimate reason to practice such work, because we should learn some basic survival techniques as a nature human being.
what i was oppose was the idea that we need to kill because we need to face our food in there original form and experience the killing, thats not the point to have such experience.
however ur argument was different, so despite that u appear to be really rude, i have to say i agree with u on that particular issue.
Okay I didn't mean to be rude, just angry with people who are against other ppl learning to survive & kill.
But maybe it's their own personal decision to WANT to learn how to kill & prep their own meat cause SOME PEOPLE like to know where their meat is from & want it fresh.
My family, we raise ducks & rabbits, & yes, we eat them too. Just because ducks can be bought already killed at the market doesn't mean it's the "best" for you. It's healthier raising & killing your own food too, you know?
goessman, thanks for the understanding that its all baby steps. we work with kids who spend more time walking malls then woods. you get to start somewhere.
Great video, humane kill, did not focus on the blood and guts, but explained the reason very well. You teach kids survival by baby steps, total immersion would turn them off. Five stars.
I personally don't know why I should even be explaining this and prob will regret it but here goes. As a Survival Instructor I can tell you snaring a rabbit is an incredibly easy task. Rabbits are not the brightest animal, and a simple noose snare will provide you with a rabbit in less than an hour or two, Prob is sometimes the snare doesn't kill the animal, so this simply shows the quickest and most efficient way to dispatch it humanely.
Allot of you think this is aweful, but starving is worse. Your ancestors all lived by this methodology and that is how they survived. All we do is teach alternative methods to obtaining food when supermarkets are not a viable option. Perfect example is Katrina, or a aircrash in the mountains, or a hike got wrong. This program is an excellent way, to educate people on what to do if. If you don't think its possible, ask Katrina victims if its possible.
Yes, I agree. Teens should really learn about where their food comes from. It's really cruel to kill domestic rabbits. Humans will face extinction of rabbits...
wait a minute.... did you just suggest that rabbits will become extinct because.... they will be used for food??? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!! Your joking, right? PLEASE tell me you were just kidding..... I really hope that NOONE could POSSIBLY be that stupid......lol. Wild, domestic.... the meat's all the same.... very, very good...lol
what the hell I mean Im all for u killing and eating rabbits but I think u should do it to wild rabbits not domestic rabbits also u should learn how to break their necks properly not with a big stick its quicker and more humane as the rabbit doesnt see it coming
It's good to see the younger generation learn where their food comes from. The liberal youth needs a taste of reality from time to time. I am an avid hunter and live on a farm, I found my children appreciate where their food comes from. You just have to suck it up and do what you have to do.
So then make sure not to scare the deer or rabbit when your hunting. Make sure to kill it with one shot. Never trap a rabbit. Never chase a wounded rabbit. I think the whole petting thing is a little bit new agey. Just kill the thing.
I'm glad they showed the rabbit some respect before they killed it. You could tell the rabbits didn't know anything was "wrong" and died without struggling or suffering.
What this has to do with survival is knowing WHAT to do with a carcass once you have it. If they ever live on a farm or raise their own food, they will have to know how to kill in order to eat. Hitting a small animal on the head with a big stick can kill it instantly. (I killed a gopher that way once- it was dead instantly.)
These are very good skills. You need to remember to pass these skills on to your children. I was proud to learn how to survive from my father and I plan to show my own kids when they are ready.
thats cool and all about eatin wat ya kill and thats wat i go by when i hunt but come on dont ever go and buy a defensless rabbit out of a store or wherever you got them. so start gettin your rabbits the real way. with bows or rifles. a pistol would even work if you have stedy aim.
I have been hunting, trapping, skinning, and gutting since I was twelve but this is disgusting, they didn't go trap or shoot the rabbit. This is a domestic rabbit. they bought it. whoever initiated this is a numbskull. you can't BUY Rabbits in the wilderness.
yes! of course. This is a problem with not fat. Thanks for pointing it out. We process other animals in our programs. Including sheep and we constantly render the fat and save it for programs. While these are domestic animals we work to stock the "larder", making our connection to our food "slower".
cant just live off rabbit though, the meat has no nutrition and you will get what is called rabbit starvation where whilst you feel full you will lack energy and eventually starve.
I'm gonna have to call shenanigans on this. Meat is just protein, which is 4 calories per gram. Fat is 9 calories per gram. Assuming it's 100% lean, you can expect about 2lb of meat per rabbit or 3,628 calories. More than likely, it'll be higher since it's going to have some fat.
I'm not sure where you got your info, but it sounds bogus. Can you provide a reference?
mate your body needs more than calories, it needs minerals amongst other things. and the reference for my last post is the collins gem SAS survival guide, by john wiseman (p. 113), and having been the survival instructor for the SAS for many years, i reckon he knows his stuff. if that doesnt convince you, try your local library (google works pretty good too)
Reading up on it a bit, it looks like ultimately it's a lack of fat. Any meat that is too lean will eventually cause this 'rabbit starvation'. You also need other vitamins and whatnot too. Wikipedia has a good page on it called "Rabbit starvation".
This is sick. Almost all wilderness programs are these pseudo au natural bullshit. These kids already have emotional issues that's why they're there and allowing them to casually bludgeone a helpless rabbit isn't therapeutic. These sick demented fucks wouldn't smash their pet dog's head and disembowl its internal organs and eat its flesh. Its not right to waste a helpless animal's life to teach a bunch of drug addicted children gratitude. Humans are slime.
Actually, these were very well adjusted kids. They just live a city life and they felt like taking accountability for their own food was what they needed to do, instead of letting someone in a factory do it for them.
Those weren't pet store rabbits. They look like Flemish giants, which are bred FOR EATING.
They probably bought them at a fair.
It wasn't really survival training. It's more of "Respect for where your food comes from"...and personally, I think everyone who eats meat should have to kill and clean an animal once in their life.
Sorry charlie that is not necessarily true, no body know the exact origin of the species.
English rabbit breeders, raising the typical 7-8 lb. rabbit, were having trouble meeting the demand for rabbit meat in their country. So some of these "Giants" were IMPORTED to England, and that is the first recorded case (1860) of breeding for the flemish giant meat. KEYWORD: IMPORTED.
There is a very quick, clean way to gut (or "paunch") a rabbit that I learned last winter. Make a slit from the anus to the breast bone. Turn the rabbit tummy side down holding the front legs in one hand and the back legs in the other. Bend the rabbit backward into a U, that is, head and tail up and middle of the back down, stomach still facing the ground. Quickly flick the rabbit toward the ground. If done quickly enough, all the entrails will fall out cleanly w/ no blood, & the kidneys remain.
This is so fucked up and creepy, not because you kill and skin an animal, but because this was obviously a pet, came in a pet-carrier, and was enjoying being caressed before you slammed it in the head. That is not "game." Why not do this to your dogs and cats, for fun "practice." Yummm, puppy stew.
Well, actually, it was not a pet. The students never saw the rabbit before that day. The cat carrier was the handiest tool for transport. Also, I see nothing wrong with trying to calm an animal down before a death. The entire point is to feel empathy and gratitude for what feeds you. Recognizing that we all have a right to live. We just happen to be on the taking in for this round.
Kudos for doing that. It isn't easy, nor should it be. The crassness of mainstream hunting culture in this country coupled with our monstrous industrial meat system has defamed humanity's place as an omnivore in nature. I think it is important to be vocal about the fact that killing animals can be done with respect and humility.
Lol your sick. You should of got one of the starving rabid ones. You would be doing it a favour by killing it. Instead you go out and buy the fluffiest rabbit in sight and murder it infront of a load of kids..
you people thats say this video is messed up obviously dont respect animals. i hunt and trap, but i have great respect for animals. as do they, they and i treat animals as brothers and sisters. they are following the ways of old, of th native americans. so you anti's dont respect animals if ya think its wrong to respect the animal before you kill it, it is the right way to do things when you kill and theres nothing wrong. when i make a kill i alway say thanks and give a prayer.
three words... doctor robert young. check out the facts on animal protien and its effects on the human body. then you might realise how unnecessary all these "skills" are.
Actually, that is wrong. In fact, the more the animal is high on adrenaline, it makes the meat more plump, and tender (as Bradford Angier says and most hunters would agree). That is why some predators in the wild "play" with their food first...
I would say, they are still shocked they are actually doing this (this is a learning experience), so they are being compassionate as they touch it. Nothing wrong with that because after all, rabbits are one of only a few domesticated animals that we still consider a PET. What would you rather them do, be cruel just because "it's food"? Yeah, that makes more sense. NOT.
watching this was almost sacred to me. it was like watching hunter gatherers sitting around the praised sustenance before them. looking at it in awe and then skinning it. even if they were learning, their actions were instinctive, as people are. in doing this, i think their is a more profound respect in eating the rabbits.
when im was a child food was short .hunger was a constant companion i made my self a catapault and i killed a pheashant god it was delicous .most people nowdays are never hungry and are liveing in a unreal world of twisted perceptions.if they had to fight to survive thier brains would soon jump into reality walt disney animals cannot talk.i will tell you when you are really hungry you can smell food cooking from a long ways away.when the shit hits the fan then we will see. it will be kill or die
I have a lot of good camping gear and a gun. I have been preparing for over one year now. I am not totally prepared for when "The Schumer Hits The Fan", but I am sure as Hell better than most! :o)
Although not everyone appreciates this video, I would like to say that I think exposure to these things is important for people to know about and experience. When I have the resources I will raise my own rabbits and possibly fowl for food. You appreciate the origins of things more when you don't just buy the end product from a store.
It easier to hunt and kill your food rather than actually hand-to-hand kill it. Killing something with a gun from 20-100 yards away like I do is easier than actually killing an animal with your bare hands. But I agree this is a fucked up video. They should have just sat it down and killed it rather than pet it for 10 minutes before the fact.
Perverse and cruel video. Those girls pretend to be delicate and sensitive. Inside, they are savage, ruthless and brutal. Normal person, even if he or she have to kill an animal, would never film such scenes. They prepared for us sick and cruel show and try to organize "philosophical" discussion. The person who try to praise herself before other people that she can kill is a sick person. The only feeling I have towards such kind of people is physical and mental repulsion
It's still fucked because hunting for food is a beautiful and sacred game that our ancestors did since before the pleistocene. Domesticating an animal to the point where it trusts you and you have a more pronounced relationship and then one day smashing it in the head is creepy. Reconnecting with nature doesn't mean going to a pet store and buying this shittin rabbit to stick in a cage, i'm not a liberal peta asshole and it doesn't gross me out but i'm just saying it's fucked.
I think it's important for people to know where the meat they eat to survive comes from. I ran into a gal who said that she only wants her 10 year old to ever know that meat comes from a package in a store. Now that's certainly not respecting the animal that gives their life to be your food.
Some of you had better get used to this. You will have to do this one day in order to survive, perhaps much sooner than you know. Times are a changing.
trackersnw. yes i do i hunt with a long bow and am working on some bows and make my own wooden arrows, aslo i hunt with flintlock-guns from back int he 1800's. i do some knapping-glass heads mostly, i dont have any flint right now and PRIMITIVE camping.
I am an avid hunter and fisherman and this video was interesting. I dont understand why you clubbed them when you could have just broken their necks. Braking the necks would also be better for canning brains( not that I have done it before) because you wouldnt have the mess where you smashed the skull
Thanks! Great video. I appreciate it. I may post it on my website in the coming month.

While I myself am a consumer of ranched meat, I agree that more meat should come from hunted sources... or at least free range. The meat would not only be leaner and healthier, but the animals would have a better quality of life beforehand as well. And thumbs up to the kids involved here!

if youre gonna sacrifice a bunny at least use an ugly one... not a cute one... and its best to hunt the wild ones.. not buy them from the pet store

WTF!!!! you used store bought rabbits???? Set traps and learn several skills at once.!!! All these kids learned was how to bludgeon a rabbit with a stick. *shakes head and rolls eyes*

I find the killing the hardest part. Once its dead, it becomes just a task you have to perform and my mind is busy analyzing what to do next (skinning & processing meat).
marcjacobi 2 years ago
utmost respect???

Hmmmm

Sadly, this reminds me of those places that actually skin animals alive for their fur... can you imagine how painful that must be? I thought of this because I know this seems obvious, but it just occurred to me that it's really, really important to make sure the animal is dead before you skin it and not just out cold.

ShivSilverhawk 2 years ago

Go to hell.
aka501z 2 years ago
No, they did it so they could connect WHERE food comes from. You stick to your burgers that don't look anything like the cow that died for your dinner.
It's called spirituality, and being connected to this planet, not just existing on it.
ROFLpwnedvideos 2 years ago
Yeah! Instead of getting blood on your hands, go to the supermarket and get plastic wrapped meat that doesn't resemble the creature it came from! That way you will never have to know what goes in to eating meat!
Actually, I think everyone who eats meat should at least butcher a chicken or rabbit once in their lives.
universatile 2 years ago
Agreed dude. I think I made almost the exact same comment like....12 pages back. Haha.
Even gutting a fish gives you some perspective. You have ended a life to sustain your own. Show respect for the life you ended and you'll never go wrong.
ROFLpwnedvideos 2 years ago
i dont agree, we live in a modern society where everyone has his/her owen role and becomes a different part of the society, whilst we share the result of our work with everyone else.
its not logical to require people experience killing only because they eat meat, thats the butcher's job, just like you wont ask everyone to make their own film to be qualified to go to cinema.
berettam92s 2 years ago
What the fuck sort of opinion is that?
Obviously if something terrible was to happen & we were to somehow revert back to our primal instincts (or survival mode), you would be the first to die because of your STUPIDITY.
It's people like you who think that "modern society" can never collapse & that we can rely our the everyday lives but if something was to happen & you didn't have the skills to be able to survive, you'll be helpless & society may not always be there for you.
utubehmoob 2 years ago
now that is a legitimate reason to practice such work, because we should learn some basic survival techniques as a nature human being.
what i was oppose was the idea that we need to kill because we need to face our food in there original form and experience the killing, thats not the point to have such experience.
however ur argument was different, so despite that u appear to be really rude, i have to say i agree with u on that particular issue.
berettam92s 2 years ago
Okay I didn't mean to be rude, just angry with people who are against other ppl learning to survive & kill.
But maybe it's their own personal decision to WANT to learn how to kill & prep their own meat cause SOME PEOPLE like to know where their meat is from & want it fresh.
My family, we raise ducks & rabbits, & yes, we eat them too. Just because ducks can be bought already killed at the market doesn't mean it's the "best" for you. It's healthier raising & killing your own food too, you know?

goessman 2 years ago
may i ask how this teaches you survival ? a wild rabbit will not sit there and let you bludgen it over the head lol
02phill 2 years ago
I personally don't know why I should even be explaining this and prob will regret it but here goes. As a Survival Instructor I can tell you snaring a rabbit is an incredibly easy task. Rabbits are not the brightest animal, and a simple noose snare will provide you with a rabbit in less than an hour or two, Prob is sometimes the snare doesn't kill the animal, so this simply shows the quickest and most efficient way to dispatch it humanely.
TimA340 2 years ago
Allot of you think this is aweful, but starving is worse. Your ancestors all lived by this methodology and that is how they survived. All we do is teach alternative methods to obtaining food when supermarkets are not a viable option. Perfect example is Katrina, or a aircrash in the mountains, or a hike got wrong. This program is an excellent way, to educate people on what to do if. If you don't think its possible, ask Katrina victims if its possible.

use a very sharp knife across the carotid instead of bashing its brains in.
First: it's painless for the animals since the blood to the brain stops. So it does not "feel" any pain
second: you get to drain out the blood. (a)congealed blood is unhealthy. (b) easier to skin
great video.

what the hell I mean Im all for u killing and eating rabbits but I think u should do it to wild rabbits not domestic rabbits also u should learn how to break their necks properly not with a big stick its quicker and more humane as the rabbit doesnt see it coming

It's good to see the younger generation learn where their food comes from. The liberal youth needs a taste of reality from time to time. I am an avid hunter and live on a farm, I found my children appreciate where their food comes from. You just have to suck it up and do what you have to do.

Great informative video guys. I'd like to see you cover brain tanning if you could. Did you tan it with or without fur?
JeffreyRodriguez 3 years ago
yes! of course. This is a problem with not fat. Thanks for pointing it out. We process other animals in our programs. Including sheep and we constantly render the fat and save it for programs. While these are domestic animals we work to stock the "larder", making our connection to our food "slower".
trackersnw 3 years ago
cant just live off rabbit though, the meat has no nutrition and you will get what is called rabbit starvation where whilst you feel full you will lack energy and eventually starve.
mtaylor0001 3 years ago
I'm gonna have to call shenanigans on this. Meat is just protein, which is 4 calories per gram. Fat is 9 calories per gram. Assuming it's 100% lean, you can expect about 2lb of meat per rabbit or 3,628 calories. More than likely, it'll be higher since it's going to have some fat.
I'm not sure where you got your info, but it sounds bogus. Can you provide a reference?
JeffreyRodriguez 3 years ago
mate your body needs more than calories, it needs minerals amongst other things. and the reference for my last post is the collins gem SAS survival guide, by john wiseman (p. 113), and having been the survival instructor for the SAS for many years, i reckon he knows his stuff. if that doesnt convince you, try your local library (google works pretty good too)
cheers
mtaylor0001 3 years ago
Reading up on it a bit, it looks like ultimately it's a lack of fat. Any meat that is too lean will eventually cause this 'rabbit starvation'. You also need other vitamins and whatnot too. Wikipedia has a good page on it called "Rabbit starvation".
Good deal mtaylor0001.
JeffreyRodriguez 3 years ago
What mtaylor0001 is saying is true, you can't live off just rabbits.

Humans are slime.

azzaaaron17 3 years ago
Those weren't pet store rabbits. They look like Flemish giants, which are bred FOR EATING.
They probably bought them at a fair.
It wasn't really survival training. It's more of "Respect for where your food comes from"...and personally, I think everyone who eats meat should have to kill and clean an animal once in their life.
ROFLpwnedvideos 3 years ago
Sorry charlie that is not necessarily true, no body know the exact origin of the species.
English rabbit breeders, raising the typical 7-8 lb. rabbit, were having trouble meeting the demand for rabbit meat in their country. So some of these "Giants" were IMPORTED to England, and that is the first recorded case (1860) of breeding for the flemish giant meat. KEYWORD: IMPORTED.
masturskater 3 years ago

LucieLettuce 3 years ago
Well, actually, it was not a pet. The students never saw the rabbit before that day. The cat carrier was the handiest tool for transport. Also, I see nothing wrong with trying to calm an animal down before a death. The entire point is to feel empathy and gratitude for what feeds you. Recognizing that we all have a right to live. We just happen to be on the taking in for this round.
trackersnw 3 years ago
Kudos for doing that. It isn't easy, nor should it be. The crassness of mainstream hunting culture in this country coupled with our monstrous industrial meat system has defamed humanity's place as an omnivore in nature. I think it is important to be vocal about the fact that killing animals can be done with respect and humility.
scrumptiousvittles 3 years ago

ROFLpwnedvideos 3 years ago
Actually, that is wrong. In fact, the more the animal is high on adrenaline, it makes the meat more plump, and tender (as Bradford Angier says and most hunters would agree). That is why some predators in the wild "play" with their food first...
mysticalwoodsman 3 years ago
I would say, they are still shocked they are actually doing this (this is a learning experience), so they are being compassionate as they touch it. Nothing wrong with that because after all, rabbits are one of only a few domesticated animals that we still consider a PET. What would you rather them do, be cruel just because "it's food"? Yeah, that makes more sense. NOT.
mysticalwoodsman 3 years ago
watching this was almost sacred to me. it was like watching hunter gatherers sitting around the praised sustenance before them. looking at it in awe and then skinning it. even if they were learning, their actions were instinctive, as people are. in doing this, i think their is a more profound respect in eating the rabbits.

It easier to hunt and kill your food rather than actually hand-to-hand kill it.
