Jon Lord, never the same solo (like Blackmore too, that's why todays DP is boring) and always GREAT!
Why did they drop this song in 1976? It is quite different to the rest of CTTB, and it was a single too, would have loved to hear it on Foxbat, with bolin in full shape...
it may have been this show, another one or the complete japan tour, he was not at the top, no doubt. Sad that this is what is delivered to posterity by this film.
Yeh I was listening to Stormbringer earlier and it's too bad that Ritchie mailed in his tracks for that album. But he was no longer the musical director at that point. Great writing on that album though, and I think CTTB is just great. This line up really smokes, and Paice and Lord are totally ripping on anything live from MK IV that I've heard. Bolin, on a good night, ala Russian Foxbat, was great and deserves credit for it. I'm grateful for the songs that came from that tumultuous swan song.
Very interesting! It's a shame Bolin is barely visible throughout the song though, since his very appearance is what sort of makes this so exclusive - good live footage with him is apparently quite rare (at least for us who are not die hard collectors).
My favourite song ....amazing!!!!!!!

I discovered this song when I was a kid on an old 45 record. It was so different and so brilliant. I still have that 45.

Bolin fell a sleep on his hand before the show.
He couldn't play that night.
According to Jon Lord and Ian.
So He was all over the stage smiling etc.
I love his work.
But Jon was getting tierd of working so hard and he felt that the reputation of Deep Purple because of the drug problems was going down.

Tommy Bolin died from a drug overdose.
Funky that a cat from Iowa could be lead
guitarist for Deep Purple.

Paice - mind-blowingly awesome. What happened to Tommy - did he get mixed out?

Better than some of the late tunes with Richtie Blackmore.

Nah, After he founded Rainbow, everything got good again. Like how purely awesome is Rainbow Rising and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.
The Best song ever is The Temple of the King by Rainbow or Still I'm Sad, by Rainbow.
Still I'm Sad, has one of the greatest guitar pieces ever.
