I was able to purchase the whole series in original cd covers before they went out of print. I watch it every summer. This is, by far, one of the best miniseries ever. The ending is fantastically good, surprising and really tugs at the ole heart strings. Although, I don't believe in 'biological' aliens, this series is one to be had and enjoyed.
ha ha ok i thought way back then that max was a computer generated face, it was niggling at me until 1x10, anyway great series first time for me missed original showing.
@fantasyk87 he cared for sally, just on a much weaker level than a human would. The fact that they wanted and aspired to feel like that once again. The fact that they chose and aspired to feel made all the difference. They could have been all "screw emotions, those are for primal species", but something inside them made them feel different. It's much the same as how Data from Star Trek TNG aspires to be human.
But in Oneness, there is Everything... so ideas like 'right' and 'wrong' and 'good' and 'bad' are meaningless when one remembers they are Everything. Only in 'duality' can you experience separation... and duality is not 'everything'. It's only a judgment or decision made upon the whole.
It doesn't really affect anything... but it does affect the 'perception' of everything.
It's a hole in an otherwise great plot.
I loved this miniseries and would watch it again... It's great.

how did that girl (mary?) get out of the alien ship, from part 9? they never showed that she left the ship they just showed her getting into it.

Without actualy knowing you can tell Spielberg was behind this simply by the intro movie. Band of Brothers and The Pacific are both very similar.
