The commission concluded that military commanders in Lebanon and all the way back to Washington failed to take obvious steps to protect the soldiers. The commission noted that the "prevalent view" among U.S. commanders was that there was a direct link between the Navy shelling of the Muslims and the truck bomb attack.

@beirutvet1983 my dad fought there after the bombing. he was supposed to be there but the ship he was on got sent to grenada to help out there first
