The door opens outward as additional protection from flying debris. We offer an optional escape opening that can be built into the back wall. This hatch can be opened from the inside with a wrench provided and allow the occupants to exit the shelter from that direction if needed.
Looks good....... but how do you open the door when your neighbor's house is crumpled up against it? Wouldn't an in-swing door make more sense....just sayin'.
To the contrary, with the walls and roof being 4 inch thick high strength concrete with rebar re-inforcement, the car would sustain more damage than the shed and the structure would not collapse. With the unit sitting flush to the ground a 250 mph wind will not be able to lift or topple the unit.
Disclaimer....weather is unpredictable, so you shouldn't use it for storage in case a tornado warning is issued...just a thought!
