i hope im not being annoying,but umm there was a movie when a girl and her family have a horse but when her baby turns out to be a unicorn they are running all over their farm to protect it from the press and merchants i think it was a Disney movie im not sure but i haven't seen that one movie in years if you could tell me i would be most thankful ^.^

interesting you say that, 'cos I painted a unicorn inspired by spirit and I'd been buying white paint for ages . When I came to use them, all the whites had other colours in them so though the unicorn looked white there were irridescent colours that changed with the light, gold, blue, green red etc. I believe this is the type of colouring referred to.

The other reason was this clip, the book clearly states that unicorns are "nothing like a horned horse"and seeing this caused fans to argue that that movie was already being unfaithful to the book by using a horse as a model.

The original unicorn was supposed to have the body of a horse, the legs of a deer, the cloven hooves of a goat and the tail of a lion. Hollywood turned the image into a horse and that is what is generally accepted, the original was far different. In a regular movie I have no stress in unicorns being a horse, but if they are to make one of this book I would love if they could stay original.

Yeah, but the point is that in the book the unicorn is not described as a horse with a horn. And in some mythologies unicorns are even more goatlike than horselike. Most people thing it lookes like a horse, but there's no point in arguing about that. As long as there is no actual unicorn we can see everyone is left to imagine it in whatever kind of way he likes.

The other films showing unicorns didn't have these problems, because they weren't film versions of a book that might have describes unicorns to look different from a horse with a horn. Like the film "Legend". Or they were film versions of a book that did describe unicorns to be a horse with a horn like in "Harry Potter". The thing is that people can get very emotional about details and books. I think they just want to stay true to Beagles work (hope my english is alright, sorry if not).

They were going to last I heard. Had a website with a bunch of pre-production info but then it closed and I have no idea what's happening with it now. It would make a lovely live action movie though.

Basically Beagle tried to win it back because they pretty much wanted to go the route of making the unicorn a horse with one horn. Beagle is very specific about how he wants them to look.

Plus the people making it didn't want to allow Beagle any creative input at all, they just wanted his script.
