I saw it on dvd recently. I was disappointed that they got the history wrong. I was very impressed with the performances...Jeffery Wright in particular. I forget the actor's name who played Howlin' Wolf, but he did a pretty good job also. Personally I think Howlin' Wolf should have his own movie.

Good point. It is a somewhat idealistic dramatization of the real story, not that the actualy history as it occured wasn't dramatic enough. Chess' brother for example, was left out of the story, along with many other liberties taken.  Howlin' Wolf was played by Eamonn Walker.

I dunno, in my opnion I think Beyonce did a really great job on the songs. However, she didn't play a convincing heroin addict. In the scene where they find her on the floor doped up out of her mind, she's just acting as if she were drunk. Maybe it's just me, but I wasn't convinced one bit.

I'm not hating on Beyonce or Darnell Martin, but I'm still trying to figure out what made Martin put Etta James and Beyonce together while writing her script. Now don't get me wrong, after seeing the movie I think Beyonce did wonderful. But, I know if I'm writing a movie with Etta James in it, Beyonce sure as hell ain't going to pop up in my head. Jill Scott probably would, but definitely not Beyonce.

I believe Jeffrey White should receive a academy award for his performance in this movie. I also believe it should be called the Muddy Waters Story. Beyonce was great but I think Columbus is another academy award nominee. I think these two brothers outweigh her although she was very good.

Excellent movie. Beyonce is f#@king SEXY as Etta James, not just the looks but some serious magnetism. You just can't take you're eyes off her. Her acting isn't great, yet, but she's definetley getting better.

One thing you have to say about her though is when she's in any movie and in her own element, she's frigin incredible!!!

This film is called "Cadillac Records" but with Beyonce in it, you can best believe that the actor that gets all the message board talk and buzz will be her. For all the great work most think Jennifer did in "Dreamgirls" much of the talk was about beyonce and her supposed reaction to Jennifer's Effie.
