  • this LP takes up thine stereo and swtiches channels in the middle. Probably generated my interest in the bass very distinct. I think Jimi Hindrex does it.

  • dont get me wrong i love the beatles they were, key word WERE my favorite band, buuuuut then i got into pink floyd, and the rest is history

  • Beatles suck a huge cock, stupid pussy ass jingly jangly gay band. Never compare them to Pink Floyd.

  • @DanielJoseDiego seriously, just stop. I'm so fucking sick of listening to awesome pink floyd songs and then seeing ignorant assholes arguing about beatles vs floyd. Just listen to the amazing music, and enjoy it. The Beatles may not be technically better than Floyd, but to say that they suck is completely ridiculous. You have to take many other things into account when comparing them, but I'm not going to go into it because I hate arguing about it in the first place.

  • @Moonrisepower take thy beatles and shove them up thy piehole! :D

  • @DanielJoseDiego I never even said I liked the beatles better than pink floyd, so don't act like I'm just another beatles fan that's angry that you don't like the beatles best. I said I'm sick of seeing the constant arguing about them on pink floyd videos. You're just another person who can't enjoy a good song without arguing about bands in the comments section. I guess my contributing to the arguing isn't going to make it any better though, so from here on out I just won't ever read thecomments

  • @Moonrisepower You know those things we have above our eyes, those thin strips of flesh? They're called eyelashes, you can move those down and save yourself a lot of grief sir. xD

  • @DanielJoseDiego ...you mean eyelids?

  • gives me goosbumps in headphones

  • THIS SONG IS SO FUCKING AMAZING !!!

  • Pink floyd sounds more happy and upbeat when syd was still in the band

  • TO TU TAHH!!!

  • At the end, it's actually 'Real eyes realize real lies" :)

  • This song was the first album song written in its entity by Roger Waters

  • this is true psychedelic music! the band im in is named after the part at 0:32 sec :p

  • @jKRAMER001 thank god for ppl like u keep making psycadelic gold

  • great bassist and keyboardist!

  • i love every single pink floyd album except the final cut

  • @freddiebarry93 Me too

  • How about Rick's free piano work? A buddy of mine calls him "Slick Rick"

  • Doctor kindly tell your wife that "I'm alive, flowers thrive,Realize!"

  • Although this is Roger's song it's still dominated by Syd's guitar

  • MUSIC SEEMS TO HELP THE PAIN

    SEEMS TO CULTIVATE THE BRAIN

  • @freddiebarry93 whic is Your stethoscope?

  • REALIZE, REALEYES, REAL-LIES.

Interesting - Roger W. wrote this one. The only one on Piper

  • yeah man as much hate as i hear people give this album; i love this song and interstellar overdrive

  • tripi (=

  • My favorite Pink Floyd studio "album" song !!! For me, it is their happiest and most celebratoreous melody. I can listen to this song all day, every day. It is probably my favorite song ever. The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn is also my favorite album. 1967 is my favorite year for music. I want people to know and hear more of this album and this song. They know unfairly too much of their other albums like Wish You were Here, which for me is way too depressing, technical, marketed, and overrated !!!

  • @Xuivonae Wish You Were Here was great album.

  • @Xuivonae Plus, you really can't compare Roger's and Syd's writing. It is a bit like comparing Lewis Carroll and George Orwell. They are both great in their own ways.

  • @SRone45 no its more like comparing Shakespeare (syd) to some loser (roger)

  • @tigerlaser

    Lol Sarah Palin.

But no really, in my opinion Floyd's period with Syd was the best, but when Roger became the lead singer it was still good, and the other band members fully developed their instrumental talents.

But yeah, Syd was the best.

It's more like saying Syd's Shakespeare, and Roger's Lord Byron. Still good, and different style.

  • @tigerlaser A very mad shakespeare... You don't really think you can compare, do you? I mean, comparing two different songwriters who have made so much different music each seems rather.... pointless.

  • @Xuivonae depressing, technical, marketed, yes, and also rather dark.

  • Bet YOUR band ain't got no guts like this.

  • The Piper is my own personal mental soundtrack

is always in the tracklist when preparing a psyconaut trip

  • I've always thought Roger Waters has great feel and time in his playing

  • REALIZE REALIZE REALIIIIZE love the end of the sond :D

  • @3ombieautopilot real eyes realize real lies, dig it!

  • The song of desillusion: gold is lead, jesus blead :D

  • At the Drive-in did a great cover of this song. IMO

  • Which drive-in were they at? Its probably growd up with weeds by now. There are very few drive-ins in operation anymore.

  • this is so weird...but i love it!!! I bought the CD for 15 bucks with stereo and mono discs. I don't prefer one over the other that much...but the mono mix seems better cos it's the very original....oh, i don't know.

the point is, *this album rules*!

  • just an update...the stereo version is good except for Interstellar Overdrive!! That panning at the end drives me batty!!!

  • Are you talking about the 2007 remasters?

If so, I might add that the some drumming they added at one point in that mix of Interstellar Overdrive seems rather off beat.

  • No wait, I was talking 'bout the mono mix. Nevermind.

  • Yeah I did mean the 2007 one. on that note, do you have the 3 disc version? I don't (cos i didnt know it existed at the time I bought mine, AKA this August.) Anyways, can you send me all that stuff, please? It just makes no sense to spend easily 2x the price on one extra CD and some glitzy packaging.

  • I got the 3-disc set on my birthday some days ago.

Maybe you can wish for it as a Christmas gift?

  • yeah right! It's like what, 50 bucks? I usually get straight $ for Xmas/my b-day, which is Jan 6th. Like this year, I got $100 for Xmas then 60 more for my b-day. talk about freakin sweet! Though of course it did disappear after a marathon CD spree (The Wall being my best purchase.) If I get money, I'l probably buy Shine On then TPATGOD 3 CD edition. Oh, wait. Doesn't Shine on have a disc with 95% of the TPATGOD bonus disc? Oh well...

  • Why the fuck did you say all that? So not necessary.

  • @xxkewldudexx dude my bday is also jan 6th!

  • This song is soooo good.

Piper at the gates of dawn is a brilliant album.

  • @Onshell -it sure is- more than that even in my opinion.

  • Yeah rockstars can be very unrealistic and selfish and whatever .. But i think they make up for it by giving us such amazing and legendary music! and the guys can sort any of their problems out themselves . i doubt the rest of pink floyd would ave let him get away with that anyway! They rock as one!!! xx

  • Whats With all the negitive comments?? ;[

anyway does anyone else think the fist pic is epic win?? :D

  • unique in rock music

  • I think Roger could write books if he wants.

  • no

he couldn't have gotten any of the songs that have already been listed with ascap or bmi as being written by any of the others

what you HEARD was that he and dave gilmour fought court battles over the rights to the NAME pink floyd

and they also battled over who had the rights to use the flying pig

one side claimed it was a seperate, distinct thing because THEIR pig had testicles

    and the other pig didn't

i forget which side claimed the balls

  • PINK FLOYD IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

  • yes

  • real eyes realize real lies

  • Every song on Piper is basically a masterpiece in early experimental/Psych rock.

  • @Matildamothers except for the crappy "take up thy stethoscope..."

  • @scarface9000

You obviously don't like punk and heavy metal.

  • @dancing0being actually i do. i love vegetable man which is punk. and bleach is one of my favourites, and it is heavy metal... this is the only song on Piper that isn't syd... and it sucks badly... it's very annoying, sounds nerdy

  • @scarface9000

I respect your opinion, but the whole "Piper" album is annoying :). Maybe it's a bit like "Good Morning" song from "Sgt. Pepper's" for which i think John Lennon said it wasn't very meticulously made.

My opinion is that "Stethoscope" and "Good Morning" are great songs. I always like and look for music like this.

  • @dancing0being actually "piper" is not annoying at all. it may even be the best sounding album of all time, except for this song and that little bit in "mother matilda" where he say's "waiting!" that part was nerdy. minus that part it would perhaps be the greatest song of all time. and i don't know what else to tell you but "good morning" is the only song i don't like from the sgt. but anyway everyone is made differently so i also respect your opinion.

  • @dancing0being Please never compare again pink floyd with the beatles

  • @Matildamothers i agree i wish 2000 woke up and played a string or two of their own instead of conforming to the medias needs and by medias needs i mean recycled pop rap garbage that has little to no talent man i wish i was born in them good old 60s

  • The retard that posted this video screwed up on the lyrics!

    1. "dark room" not "are goon"

    2. "gruel ghool" not "grow go"

    3. "used spoon" not "you swoon"

    4. "...motivate the brain" not "...cultivate the brain"

  • Those are those are the correct lyrics numnuts. I just check on three different sites.

  • o ya? well i checked in the cd booklet! beat that!

  • LOL

  • reminds me a bit of scream thy last scream

  • I love it at about 2:25 when the speakers switch over.

  • Roger is the man! Interesting to see his psychedelic side after listenind to the wall... this band compleatly changed their style after Syd left. I'm a fan of all of their music, though

  • ROGER WATERS IS A FUCKING DOUCHEBAG did you hear??? he tried to claim ALL Pink Floyd music as his own and get all the rights and money for it!! He tried to screw over the rest of Pink Floyd! FUCK ROGER WATERS

  • Jesus christ man. While it's true that Roger has been known to have been a bit of a prick in the past, the Floyd wouldn't have been what they were without him. For one, you wouldn't be listening to this song. And what about the Wall? What about Animals? Call him what you will but don't doubt his contributions

  • oh I don't, absolutely. I loved his work, but there is something about a douchebag that just turns me off. I never did like his work the most (his solo albums especially are crap) and I have even more trouble connecting to it after learning what he did

  • also he was an amazing songwriter.

  • LOL! Funny title.

I guess the Music seems to help the pain all right!

  • Probably my favorite track on Piper.

  • @mpauger15 Yes, I love this too.

  • I love the At The Drive In cover, it is fantastic, and completely changes the song for the better

  • the original is even better than the atdi-cover, all guys(omar, jim and so on) say the song is embarrasing for them

  • INTENSE

    syd barret is GENIUS

    woo pink floyd!

  • Roger Waters wrote this one :)

  • Roger Waters wrote and sang this song. The only non Syd Barrett song on the album. Roger has talent, too.

  • thanks for postin this i love pink floyd

  • THIS IS FUCKING WATERS HE IS A GENIOUS

  • haha absoultely genious, 'greasy spoon'???! haha wtf....
