Hey i see on your site you have a reference series kit for 2k and ive also been looking around and it seems i can get the DW performance series for around the same price (no snare on either of them, which is fine by me as i just bought a Pork Pie big black bob) which kit is better?
We will have the DW kit in stock for that price next week. I think it depends on what you are using it for. If you are using mics, the Reference is far easier to record well, its tighter, has 100% better hardware, and its less mainstream. I love a reference. If you want a live sound, if you play jazz, or if you want a big vintage rock sound, go with DW. Those shells sing longer and have great controlled overtones. 540372DRUM
I wanna say thank you guys at Greenbrier Percussion, because of this video I was able to make my choice to buy this kit and I have been very happy with it ever since. Thanks Greenbrier, videos like these really help the viewer to hear what the product sounds like, before they buy and that is very useful especially to someone like me who doesn't have the access to go to a music store and just try out sets so THANK YOU TO ALL THE PEOPLE AT GREENBRIER PERCUSSION !
I can't decide between this and the silverstar.. I'm in the same wagon as cherylann14, I play on a metal band so I need articulation. Both kits sound really well, but each have different pros and cons.. Is any of the two kits truly superior? Or are they close? The other option I'm considering is a ddrum Reflex, have you tried it out? Thanks alot!
@GreenbrierPercussion Wait a sec, is the person who writes the answers always the same? After writing this questions I read that in the Silverstar's video that you preferred that kit... What's exactly the difference in terms of sound and stuff like hardware or mounting systems?
@KTVX94 this is the sound guy, Steve might have wrote the other comment, sorry for the mix up, I will pass this along to Steve and have him answer for you
im looking for a better level kit, because im at a westbury.i play in a metal band and want something suitable for it.im stuck between a gretsch catalina 6 piece,or this kit? which would u prefer?
@cherylann14 Hi there. I think that for a metal band, Pearl is far superior. Pearl Vision kits have a drier attack that lends its self to articulating fast response. Fast notes sound muddy on gretsch shells because they are so warm and rounded with thin shells. Definitely go for a pearl.
i have this same configuration(except for the 8" tom) of this kit in black. i cant seem to get the 12"and 13" toms set up well. any reccomendations???
@prthiv The snare is a metal snare - I went back and watched the vid and I see that I misspoke. I meant that the snare doesn't blend with the birch shelled toms and bass - it was rather crisp even for a steel shell.
God dammit I've been waiting for so long for a proper demo of this kit. Thanks a bunch. It also adds a nice touch that you used a cute girl to introduce the drumset. You bastards are trying to get on our soft sides!
@femaledeer If it's a Vision Birch, I'd say the Pearl Vision. The Imperialstars are all poplar construction, and I prefer the sound and construction of birch generally. The Imperialstar has outstanding value in that it comes with a rack of cymbals, hardware and a throne though.

did i miss out on quality by getting this set rather than the mapex meridian birch or maple?
ajcf1995 3 months ago
@ajcf1995 It's pretty similar to the meridian birch i'd say. Meridian maple is a whole different sound.

HI all, what is the difference between the Vision VLX, VBX and VBL ?
I heard that the VBX has thicker bass drum and floor tom than the VBL.
OK. Bu tthen what's the difference between the VBX and the VBL ?
I want to start playing drums, is the blended birch shell (VX, VB, VBA) a better or worse quality than the full birch shell (VBL) ?
Thanks all- keep paying
ytonaona 3 months ago
@ytonaona VLX is composite wrapped finish, VBX is all birch w/ wrap finish, VBL is all birch with lacquer finish.
GreenbrierPercussion 3 months ago
@GreenbrierPercussion Hi and thank you for your reply, but then what is VX ?
Is composite better than all birch ?
Are "composite" and "blended birch" the same ? whihc oen is better quality ?
THANK YOU!

@GreenbrierPercussion is this kit better quality than the vba or vb????
ajcf1995 6 months ago
@ajcf1995 the VBL has a lacquer finish as opposed to the wrap, so it is much better in that regard.
GreenbrierPercussion 6 months ago
@GreenbrierPercussion the vbl 100% birch right?? so that would make it higher quality, wouldn't it? the vba has birch/basswood shells.
ajcf1995 6 months ago
@ajcf1995 That is correct.
