90% of martial is not practical in real life(an exception would be krav magna). yes that include boxing, kickboxing, bjj, wrestling, tkd, vovinam, etc. only ASPECTS of these martial art is practical in reallife. the other aspect of it if for fitness, sport, and competition.
the fact still remain that those who train martial art will be more prepared in real life situation than others

someone who train tkd or vovinam obviously can tpull of a 360 kick or those stunts in a real fight. HOWEVER, those that do train martial art such as tkd and vvn obviously have a much stronger and disciplined punch, takedown, and kicks then those that arent trained(usually that would be the attacker). which is why I said only ASPECT of certain martial art works in real life.

To be honest, there is no better martial art. It depends in the martial artist and how they utilize what they've learnt. I bet that if anyone including me was up against an olympic taekwondo fighter, you' be kicked in the head before you could even punch him. Taekwondo has become more of a sport now which (in my opinion) defeats the purpose of it being a martial art. But all I see in Vovinam is flying takedowns, but seriously, your not going to jump on someones head in real life.
If Taekwondo was useless, I don't think Bruce Lee would've based his "almost-created" Martial Arts on Taekwondo, Kung-Fu, Karate and JuJitsu
So to be honest @VSAK2007, to be factual instead of bias, we would say both are useful. The moves in this are set-up there is no proof on which is better. Leave it as a stalemate before you make yourself seem stupid.

OK, hello MORON (your signature, right ?). I have learned Teakwondo enough to teach you to blue belt. Then I moved to learned Aikido for years.
Teakwondo is an martial art mainly bases on assaulting with kicking. Some action can be done with hands but the main power is on the feet. This martial art is simple, efficient for one can learn quickly. But that's it. The martial art phylosophy education is almost ignored. In my opinion, Teakwondo is even less "martial art" than Muay.
@hacksign000 im Vietnamese but prefer practicing the art of Taekwondo... it's not the martial art that becomes useless.. it's the fighter and the way they use it... I believe that no martial art is best but i do believe that many "instructors" have destroyed taekwondo... the old traditional way was allot better and if you master taekwondo you could use it in "real life" situations... So in the end it isn't that one martial art is better than the other... they all just focus on different aspects.
LOL, guyz, you should know Vovinam's from apart of Vietnamese Traditional Martial. It's from Binh Dinh, in which have many style martial, every-family's a style martial. Thumbs up if ur question's solve.

The Vietnamese look so small and tiny! but what the heck is voninam. I never heard of it before. It looks like they take some tkd kicks and mix it up with judo to create these fancy looking take downs.

I've taken Taekwondo, and have seen Vovinam sparring. I give my support fo Vovinam fighters. With your epic grappling, takedowns and all.. Taekwondo sucks! Flashy kicks and that's about it. Self-defense sucks. And even the contact fighting sucks. So now I'm taking Israeli Krav Maga. Vovinam will pwn the f*ck out of Taekwondo and Krav Maga will feed on the innards and make a total annhilation of it :D Viet Vo Dao, Meijin Kai and Krav Maga are BEAST!

@PhamHaTrung sử dụng súng thì có cần phải học võ không, đi học bắn súng đi mình chưa nghe súng là võ thuật bao giờ nực cười thật. vovinam được cái vât, khóa, bẻ. con những chiêu nhảy nhót lung tung chỉ để cắn chộm thì được. mà đã đánh lén thì không cần phải mấy chiêu đó cho mệt. cùi nhất là quặp phát 3 thằng thật là vớ vẩn. nêu bạn nào quặp được đằng trước mình cho 1 triệu. trừ lúc nó đang bị choáng hay không để ý. trong cái clip đó vovinam toàn là biểu diễn.

someone who train tkd or vovinam obviously can tpull of a 360 kick or those stunts in a real fight. HOWEVER, those that do train martial art such as tkd and vvn obviously have a much stronger and disciplined punch, takedown, and kicks then those that arent trained(usually that would be the attacker). which is why I said only ASPECT of certain martial art works in real life.
another example. wrestling. yeah its mainly sport, but it'll sure help you take down someone in a realfight

To be honest, there is no better martial art. It depends in the martial artist and how they utilize what they've learnt. I bet that if anyone including me was up against an olympic taekwondo fighter, you' be kicked in the head before you could even punch him. Taekwondo has become more of a sport now which (in my opinion) defeats the purpose of it being a martial art. But all I see in Vovinam is flying takedowns, but seriously, your not going to jump on someones head in real life.

If Taekwondo was useless, I don't think Bruce Lee would've based his "almost-created" Martial Arts on Taekwondo, Kung-Fu, Karate and JuJitsu

OK, hello MORON (your signature, right ?). I have learned Teakwondo enough to teach you to blue belt. Then I moved to learned Aikido for years.
Teakwondo is an martial art mainly bases on assaulting with kicking. Some action can be done with hands but the main power is on the feet. This martial art is simple, efficient for one can learn quickly. But that's it. The martial art phylosophy education is almost ignored. In my opinion, Teakwondo is even less "martial art" than Muay.

@hacksign000 im Vietnamese but prefer practicing the art of Taekwondo... it's not the martial art that becomes useless.. it's the fighter and the way they use it... I believe that no martial art is best but i do believe that many "instructors" have destroyed taekwondo... the old traditional way was allot better and if you master taekwondo you could use it in "real life" situations... So in the end it isn't that one martial art is better than the other... they all just focus on different aspects.

I've taken Taekwondo, and have seen Vovinam sparring. I give my support fo Vovinam fighters. With your epic grappling, takedowns and all.. Taekwondo sucks! Flashy kicks and that's about it. Self-defense sucks. And even the contact fighting sucks. So now I'm taking Israeli Krav Maga. Vovinam will pwn the f*ck out of Taekwondo and Krav Maga will feed on the innards and make a total annhilation of it :D Viet Vo Dao, Meijin Kai and Krav Maga are BEAST!

@MrBinhlaco đâu cần , hãy để ý solo đi , với cả trong vivonam có được sử dụng súng nhưng trong thi đấu ko cho :)) , vivonam được sử dụng súng , đao kiếm , gậy , .... dui cui , củ trỏ . hãy xem nhưng clip mà ko sử dụng đồng đội đi có rất nhiều , vovinam là một môn võ rất nguy hiểm nếu đã bị ra đòn cặp cổ thì nguy cơ gẫy rất là cao thế nên trong thi đấu người ta đã cố gắng giảm thiểu sức mạnh đến mức tối đa

@PhamHaTrung sử dụng súng thì có cần phải học võ không, đi học bắn súng đi mình chưa nghe súng là võ thuật bao giờ nực cười thật. vovinam được cái vât, khóa, bẻ. con những chiêu nhảy nhót lung tung chỉ để cắn chộm thì được. mà đã đánh lén thì không cần phải mấy chiêu đó cho mệt. cùi nhất là quặp phát 3 thằng thật là vớ vẩn. nêu bạn nào quặp được đằng trước mình cho 1 triệu. trừ lúc nó đang bị choáng hay không để ý. trong cái clip đó vovinam toàn là biểu diễn.

mà mấy cái trong clip này toàn là biểu diễn, dek phải chiêu hay ho gì, tui học vvn thầy tui có dạy mấy chiêu và dặn riêng là ko dc đem ra để giỡn... đó mới là mấy chiêu thực sự của vvn, mấy chiêu đó dùng trong thời gian nhanh nhất để hạ gục đối phương, hơn nữa còn có thể làm cho đối phương tàn phế, còn trong clip này toàn là mấy thứ hoa hòe để đi quảng bá thôi

vovienam is the martial arts for street fighting bastard gangstar .. I am a fan of martial arts like taekwondo, brazilian jujitsu, sambo, bokator, Vale tudo & krav Maga. But what is fascinating in vovienam you can attack more than one person simultaneously .. However, as @ lcworldtkd say Any martial art has its own value.

@thanhtrum221 Bạn ơi, lịch sử theo ghi chép (tui xem trên VN) thì Vovinam là tổ hợp nhìu môn phái cổ truyền của Việt Nam, còn cái đòn chân (loại điển hình ấy) thì có từ thời nhà Trần, vovinam là môn võ mới đây thôi nhưng nó là tích lũy của bao đời giữ nước của Việt Nam.

@onlyme18 yeah, it's pretty much a mixture of a lot of martial arts.. I think it has some juijitisu and kung fu, but the leg techniques are it's specialities.
